Chapter 66: Falling Cloud Wings

The Mortal Realm

Martial Uncle Yue emerged from the cave dwelling. A sword beam enveloped everyone and soared rapidly upwards, breaking through layers of thick fog in the blink of an eye to reveal the clear sky.

After joining the Kuiyin Sect, they were not only unable to leave the sect but also forbidden from exiting the Abyssal Yin Chasm.

Having spent their days in the abyss, where chilling winds howled and mists lingered, suddenly seeing a clear sky stretching for miles and a vast land, some couldn't help but let out a long cry towards the sky, releasing the pent-up suppression in their hearts.

The sword light flew directly towards the mountain peak, breaking through layers of clouds, and finally landed in front of a cave dwelling on the summit. This dwelling had been carved directly into the cliff face, and various profound restrictions on its door flickered in and out of sight, giving it an incredibly mysterious aura.

The Sect Master of Kuiyin Sect cultivated within this cave dwelling, where the spiritual tablet of Ancestor Kuiyin was also enshrined. All Kuiyin Sect meetings were held in this very dwelling.

Martial Uncle Yue respectfully bowed towards the cave dwelling and said, "Reporting to Master, I have brought this group of disciples."

The main door of the cave dwelling silently opened, followed by a deep voice from within.

"Come in."

All the disciples obediently followed behind Martial Uncle Yue, not daring to act presumptuously. They had originally expected the interior to be like a celestial realm but were surprised to find it quite simple.

Along the way, no decorations were visible; the cave dwelling's sides were smooth stone walls. After walking a short distance, they arrived at a magnificent, golden hall.

Martial Uncle Yue, who was in front, knelt on the ground and said, "Disciple Yue Wu greets Master."

Qin Sang quickly knelt down with the others, not daring to raise his head, following Martial Uncle Yue's earlier instructions to greet the Sect Master.

Four dragon pillars stood in the four corners of the hall, each topped with a fist-sized luminous pearl whose light illuminated every corner. The hall's furnishings were simple. On the innermost wall hung a portrait of the founding ancestor, Kuiyin. Beneath the portrait were several grand chairs, and a man sat in one of them—he was Yi Tiannie, the current Sect Master of Kuiyin Sect.

Sect Master Yi wore a very ordinary green robe, and his appearance was surprisingly as young as Qin Sang's and the others'. In contrast, his disciple Yue Wu looked more like his grandfather's generation.

Sect Master Yi said in a gentle voice, "Rise."

Qin Sang seized the opportunity to sneak a glance at the Sect Master and was shocked by his appearance. He had long heard that their Sect Master was nearly five hundred years old, yet he looked so young.

Yue Wu turned to the side, pointing at the row of disciples behind him, and said, "Reporting to Master, there are a total of seventeen disciples who met the requirements this time; they are all here."

Sect Master Yi hummed in acknowledgment, a smile of approval appearing on his face. "For seventeen people to break through to the sixth layer of Qi Refinement this time, Yue Wu, your contribution is considerable."

A hint of excitement appeared in Yue Wu's eyes. He quickly replied, "This disciple wouldn't dare take credit. It is my duty to alleviate Master's concerns, and I will certainly do my utmost."

Sect Master Yi pondered for a moment, then said, "I see you have already broken through to the mid-stage Foundation Establishment realm. These are some insights I gained regarding the 'Record of Profound Understanding' during my own Foundation Establishment stage. You may take them to study and and comprehend."

Sect Master Yi pointed a finger, and a streak of spiritual light flew out, merging into Yue Wu's glabella.

Yue Wu was ecstatic. "This disciple prostrates himself in gratitude to Master!"

Sect Master Yi nodded, then spoke to the disciples below, "Yue Wu should have told you earlier: for those who could break through to the sixth layer of Qi Refinement before this time, the sect would reward a top-grade magical artifact. Now, you may choose one yourselves."

As he spoke, Sect Master Yi gently tapped his Mustard Seed Bag, and a continuous stream of more than twenty dazzling streaks of light flew out. The brilliant radiance of the artifacts filled the hall with a shimmering, iridescent glow.

*Whoosh, whoosh...*

These magical artifacts flew before the crowd, swirling erratically around them. All artifacts were enveloped in streams of light. Qin Sang tried to probe with his divine sense, but it was blocked by the light. Even his 'Qi-Gazing Art' could not see through the streams of light. They could only rely on their individual discernment to choose, meaning the quality of the artifact received depended entirely on luck.

Since they were all top-grade magical artifacts, their power was roughly similar; only their specializations differed.

The others, like Qin Sang, seeing so many top-grade magical artifacts for the first time, were dazzled and wished they could possess them all.

Just as everyone hesitated, a Senior Brother named Yang Yuanzang suddenly leaped up and reached out to grab a streak of light.

This streak of light enveloped a sword-shaped magical artifact.

It was obvious that this was very likely a spirit sword. In the cultivation world, purely offensive magical artifacts that are also powerful enough are extremely rare; each one is incredibly precious. Senior Brother Yang certainly had a keen eye.

The streak of light automatically dissipated as Senior Brother Yang grasped it. The spirit sword inside fell into his hand, returning to its normal size.

A stream of greenish-black cold energy continuously encircled the three-foot-long sharp sword, flowing incessantly and radiating a chilling aura. The cold energy's form resembled a hornless dragon, and faint dragon roars could be heard.

Senior Brother Yang held the precious sword, standing mid-air with the dragon-like energy swirling around him, radiating heroic vigor.

Seeing this scene, everyone awoke as if from a dream and immediately scrambled to grab the streaks of light in the air. Among them, the most fiercely contested was a black conical artifact.

The conical and sword-shaped artifacts were the most overtly sharp among these artifacts. Qin Sang had actually long set his sights on them, but after some thought, he decided to choose one that suited him better.

He already had the Ebony Sword, which was made of spirit treasure material; as long as he mastered the 'Song Family Sword Art', it would be no weaker than that hornless dragon sword. What he lacked now was a magical artifact that could help him escape when in danger.

Qin Sang's gaze swept across, and he immediately fixed on a streak of light. Within this streak of light was a pair of white feathered wings.

In fact, what Qin Sang had initially favored was a pair of shoe-shaped artifacts, but a Senior Sister was quick-witted and nimble, taking advantage of her proximity to snatch them.

This Senior Sister likely had the same idea as him. Qin Sang felt helpless and had to settle for the next best thing, grabbing the feathered wings.

After everyone had taken one magical artifact, Sect Master Yi put away the remaining artifacts and then tossed a jade slip to each person. Inside were introductions to the artifacts and their refinement methods.

Qin Sang scanned the jade slip with his divine sense, his brow furrowed slightly.

This pair of feathered wings was called 'Cloud-Falling Wings'. Their function was completely different from what Qin Sang had imagined; instead, their purpose was to allow the user to 'fall like clouds', concealing their entire body, breath, and form. It was a concealment artifact, purer than even the 'Cloud Evasion Art'.

'Fortunately, it can still be used for saving one's life,' Qin Sang comforted himself thus.

Seeing everyone joyful and holding their artifacts with great fondness, Sect Master Yi said faintly, "Distributing a top-grade magical artifact to every disciple—such generosity is extremely rare, even among major cultivation sects with Nascent Soul ancestors overseeing them. I presume you all have some doubts in your hearts... The reason for this is that the sect has a matter that requires your participation. Are you willing?"

Sect Master Yi paused his words and smiled as he looked at everyone.

Before the Sect Master, who would dare say no?

The disciples, holding their artifacts, exchanged glances and collectively knelt before Sect Master Yi, saying, "Please give your orders, Sect Master! This disciple will certainly spare no effort!"

Qin Sang knelt down with the others, but his heart suddenly tensed. The sect had three Golden Core cultivators and countless Foundation Establishment cultivators; what kind of matter would require them, mere Qi Refinement disciples, to be dispatched?
