Chapter 1027: Closing Remarks

Dao Gui Yi Xian has finally concluded. This book began with 3,553 initial subscriptions and has now reached nearly 120,000 average subscriptions. To be honest, I never expected such outstanding results.

After all, when I first started writing, my goal was simply to avoid starving while working full-time. I never imagined that my niche novel would resonate with so many readers.

I, Huwei, want to thank all readers for their support and affection. Without you, Dao Gui Yi Xian would not have achieved its current success. Thank you, everyone.

It's finally finished. At this moment, I feel a mix of joy and melancholy. The joy comes from no longer needing to update daily or rack my brains for plot ideas.

The melancholy stems from how, as a reader, I always felt a sense of emptiness after finishing a book. I never expected to feel the same way now as an author, having just completed a novel.

However, all good things must come to an end. Brother Huo has suffered so much, he deserves a good rest. Let his story come to a peaceful conclusion. I wish Brother Huo a happy life in his own world until his dying day.

As for the theme of my next book, well-informed readers might already know it will be cyberpunk.

Readers might ask why I'm not continuing with Lovecraftian horror. This is because after two consecutive Lovecraftian novels, both my story ideas and my Lovecraftian inspiration pool have been exhausted.

Forcing myself to write another Lovecraftian story, while many loyal readers would undoubtedly follow along, I believe the story wouldn't be good.

When writing novels, I've always believed that the story is king. If, after finishing a novel, I don't even enjoy reading it myself, then there's no point in writing it.

That's why I plan to clear my head and write cyberpunk instead. At least the inspiration and story ideas for that genre are more readily available.

I've been preparing the cyberpunk story and inspiration for about a year and a half. The inspiration and story ideas are still plentiful, and I hope I can write a compelling story that could only exist in a cyberpunk world.

Of course, switching to a new genre, especially one without any hugely successful precedents to draw from, might, to be honest, lead to failure.

But when it comes to writing, one shouldn't always be timid. If it fails, it fails; I'll just keep writing the next one. The royalties from Dao Gui Yi Xian allow me to continue on this path as a full-time writer.

Even if subsequent books fail one after another, I'll still be very satisfied.

Of course, choosing a new genre doesn't mean I'll abandon my personal style or imaginative ideas. Cyberpunk also offers many interesting concepts, such as cyber psychosis...

As for when I'll start the next book, I might take a break for a few months. After all, there was only a one-month break between 'Di Hai' and 'Dao Gui Yi Xian', and even then, I was busy with other things. To be honest, continuously updating for several years has been quite tiring.

Conveniently, I've been cooped up at home for the past three years, not going anywhere. Now I can finally travel around, relax, and clear my head.

Additionally, the promised extra chapters will be written and released gradually. Please look forward to them.

Finally, I'd like to promote my older book, 'Gui Mi Di Hai' (Mysterious Sea). This book started with 296 initial subscriptions and has now also surpassed 10,000 subscriptions. In a few days, I also plan to spend some time making minor revisions to it.

This book is also Lovecraftian, but unlike 'Dao Gui Yi Xian', it's not Lovecraftian horror + Eastern folklore + mental illness. Instead, it's Lovecraftian horror + steampunk + SCP Foundation-like elements + Age of Discovery, leaning more towards traditional Lovecraftian themes.

However, since it was written several years ago, I was much less mature as a writer back then, so some parts of it might seem a bit rough. Please be gentle with your criticism.

Nevertheless, even though that book was written early on and might have some pacing or other issues, as the author, I believe the overall story is still quite solid. Friends who enjoyed 'Dao Gui Yi Xian' might want to check it out; it's a good way to pass the time during the waiting period.

Finally, I bid you all farewell. Thank you all once again! Dear readers, until our next story!
