Chapter 1014: I am Looking Forward to It

The church.

Headless bodies lay in pools of flowing blood, their necks bearing smooth, clean cuts, as if their heads had been plucked off thin air.

Many Fire-Stealers, looking somewhat disheveled, hurried among the ruins, moving and cataloging the bodies one by one.

“Everyone in the dungeon is dead, except for the four who carried the memories of the Judgment Proxies… Not a single one survived.”

“After all, the King acted personally; killing these guys was as simple as crushing a few ants.”

“Oh, right, the knight who carried Red Sleeve’s memories also escaped during the chaos. Should we send people to search for him?”

Huang He, wearing a straw hat, hesitated for a moment. “...Forget it. Our Fire-Stealers suffered considerable losses in this riot; we’re short-staffed... And now that the King of Silver is back in charge, no one can stir up any trouble.”

After speaking, Huang He glanced in the direction of the church.

The church had been considerably damaged during the recent upheaval. Its once luxurious corridors were riddled with holes, though fortunately, the inner rooms and confessionals remained mostly intact. Only the exterior appeared mottled, like ruins.

Just as Huang He was about to speak, a figure appeared out of thin air, an English coat sweeping past scarlet pools of blood as they slowly walked towards them.

“...Your Majesty.”

Huang He and Lan Yu simultaneously bowed their heads respectfully. The surrounding Fire-Stealers retreated to either side, not daring to utter a sound.

Behind the King of Silver, a figure in a large red opera robe also moved slowly, their limbs seemingly controlled by someone, exuding an eerie aura with every gesture.

The moment this splash of red appeared, everyone's gaze converged. Huang He and the others stared intently at this culprit who had nearly overthrown the Boundless Dominion, wishing they could tear him to shreds.

But Chen Ling paid no heed to their gazes. His emotionless eyes looked straight ahead, seemingly regarding everyone else as if they were air.

“You two, come with me.”

The King of Silver glanced at Huang He and Lan Yu and spoke indifferently.

The two dared not delay in the slightest, immediately following behind the King of Silver and Chen Ling, walking deeper into the church.

They passed through the shattered, luxurious corridor and entered an office. With a gentle wave of the King of Silver's hand, the desk vanished into thin air, revealing a compressed body that had been hidden beneath it.

It was Chi Tong.

Upon seeing Chi Tong's body, both Huang He and Lan Yu's eyelids twitched. They simultaneously looked at Chen Ling's back, their expressions exceedingly strange.

The King of Silver gazed at Chi Tong's body for a moment, remaining silent.

He stepped directly over Chi Tong's body and approached a cabinet. With a casual grab into the void, a stack of documents related to the manufacturing of dirty bombs appeared in his hand.

The two remaining Saint Thieves stood obediently behind him, waiting as time ticked by.

After an unknown period, the King of Silver finally spoke, a hint of regret in his voice:

“To have completed 90% of the objective in such a short time... Chi Tong did very well.”

“Chi Tong was indeed dedicated and diligent. During your absence, he managed all production capacities excellently, often working overtime until late at night.” Huang He sighed, secretly glancing at Chen Ling out of the corner of his eye.

Regardless of the previous relationships between the Saint Thieves, Chi Tong was now dead and had earned the King of Silver's praise. The two remaining Saint Thieves naturally followed suit, expressing regret over Chi Tong's death.

Meanwhile, the culprit who killed Chi Tong stood calmly in place, as if none of it concerned him.

The King of Silver spoke again:

“The remaining 10% needs to be completed. Have all factories speed up production and finish within three days.”

“Three days?” Huang He was stunned, hesitating before speaking. “Your Majesty... isn't three days too short? To accelerate production, Chi Tong had already pushed all worker hours to their limit; it can't go any faster...”

The King of Silver's eyes narrowed slightly. He glanced at Huang He, who immediately lowered his head and said nothing more.

“Only three days.”

The King of Silver repeated.

This time, Huang He dared not object in the slightest, immediately nodding, “Yes.”

“Your Majesty, what about him?” Lan Yu asked, pointing at Chen Ling.

As the source of the Boundless Dominion's unrest, the culprit who had everyone running in circles, the murderer of Chi Tong... everyone waited to see how the King of Silver would deal with Chen Ling.

The King of Silver slowly turned by the large floor-to-ceiling window. His slightly curled black hair, in the dim light, appeared as cold and cunning as a snake.

“Next, on behalf of the Boundless Base, send a message to all other dominions...”

“Send a message to the dominions?” Both Huang He and Lan Yu were startled.

It was true that messages could be transmitted between the major dominions through certain means, but ever since the King of Silver took control of the Boundless Dominion, he had severed its communication systems and railway lines, making it an isolated island separate from all other dominions.

But now, the King of Silver intended to restore communications and even proactively send a message to all other dominions?

“...What message do you wish to send?”

“Since the Great Cataclysm, humanity has barely managed to survive under the onslaught of disaster, with several dominions reduced to ruins. It's time to strike back...” the King of Silver said slowly,

“The Boundless Dominion will take the lead. In three days... we will publicly execute Chen Ling, the World-ending Blight.”

Upon hearing the last sentence, expressions of shock simultaneously appeared on the faces of Huang He and Lan Yu!

“You're going to... execute him?”

“Yes.”

“But if he's killed, won't Chao Zai be released?”

The King of Silver smiled faintly. “You don't need to concern yourselves with that... Just transmit the message as I instructed.”

Huang He and Lan Yu exchanged glances. Although they couldn't understand what the King of Silver was thinking, they still nodded.

Once the two had left, the King of Silver's gaze returned to Chen Ling.

With a slight lift of his fingertip, both figures instantly vanished from their spots. When they reappeared, they were in a dim confessional.

Before Chen Ling could fully register what was happening, he was as if swatted by an invisible hand, his entire body pinned to a massive crucifix!

The crucifix stood in the center of the confessional, behind it a huge, glazed floor-to-ceiling window. The dim setting sun, filtered through haze and glass, cast its glow upon the large red opera robe, making it appear blood-red.

The King of Silver stood calmly at the foot of the crucifix, hands in his pockets, his deep blue eyes emitting a mysterious gleam:

“Knowing you're about to die... How does it feel?”

Under the demigod's power, Chen Ling's limbs were restrained, rendering him powerless. He was like a condemned man about to be executed at the stake, his head bowed. Beneath his messy black hair, his eyes were calm as never before.

His drooping eyelids slowly lifted, and he looked down at the King of Silver. After an unknown period, he finally spoke indifferently:

“...I'm looking forward to it.”
