Chapter 1192: Come See Me

The lingering sounds echoed in his ears, like a dull roar gradually receding into the depths of the sea.

Sun Bumin suddenly sat up in bed, his back drenched in sweat. A gentle breeze seeped through the window crack, causing the old curtains to flutter. Bright sunlight streamed into the narrow room, bringing a touch of warmth to Sun Bumin.

Sun Bumin remained dazed for a long time before finally coming to his senses, gently rubbing the corners of his eyes.

"Was it a dream...?"

"It's been so long since I dreamed of Master... Why today...?"

Sun Bumin shook his head and slowly got out of bed. He glanced at the time; it wasn't long until the Wushan Convention began. Perhaps due to the hotel's poor soundproofing, Sun Bumin could hear guests next door and upstairs already moving around, seemingly preparing to leave.

Sun Bumin opened his phone; the pinned group chat already had several messages:

Group Name: The Player's Family

Chen Ling: @Shen Nan, what's the situation?

Chen Ling: @Shen Nan, where are you?

Chen Ling: @Great Lucky Daxi, are you awake? I can't detect Shen Nan's phone signal anymore; something might have happened to him.

Seeing the last message, Sun Bumin's brows furrowed tightly.

The next second, Chen Ling's incoming call appeared on his screen.

"Hello?" Sun Bumin's voice sounded as if he hadn't fully woken up.

"Shen Nan is missing," Chen Ling said, getting straight to the point. "I went to his room and couldn't find him, and his phone signal is gone."

"Missing... Where could he have gone?"

"Two possibilities: First, something happened to him on the way to find Sun Zhongliang. Second, Ying Fu is targeting him." Chen Ling's tone was extremely serious. "If it's the former, it means there's definitely something wrong with the Wushan Convention. If it's the latter... I'll have to go settle the score with Ying Fu."

Sun Bumin glanced at the time on the wall again, and quickly replied, "The convention is about to start. I can help check what's going on over there. As for Ying Fu..."

"Leave Ying Fu to me," Chen Ling said decisively.

"Okay."

Sun Bumin hung up the phone, his gaze fixed on the Half-Mountain Hotel in the distance, his brows furrowing tighter. He lifted a finger to push up the small, round sunglasses on his nose. In his pupils, nested with colorful rings, a faint glimmer flickered.

Divination of Fortune and Misfortune.

The world's fortunes and misfortunes outlined themselves before Sun Bumin's eyes. He gazed intently in the direction of the Half-Mountain Hotel, then suddenly seemed to discover something, letting out a soft, puzzled 'huh'.

"How could this be..."

Chen Ling hung up the phone and sent a message to Lu Xun and the others:

Stay in your rooms and rest. Do not go out freely. Wait for my message.

A reply immediately popped up: Understood.

Chen Ling put away his phone and set off.

Last night, Chen Ling had observed the area around the Huixian Hotel for a long time but hadn't found Ying Fu and his group. As expected, they must have relocated and begun the imperial examination elsewhere. Chen Ling then searched the vicinity again but still didn't detect anything unusual.

After the dinner, Ying Fu must have been on guard against him, making them difficult to find. Most of Chen Ling's energy was spent protecting Xiao Chunping and Yao Qing, preventing him from searching too far. Chen Ling didn't know how many new 'subjects' Ying Fu had subdued that night, but in just one night, Ying Fu's power must have expanded significantly. If he wanted to get his revenge, he would likely target Lu Xun and Chu Changqing directly. Therefore, the most important thing now was to ensure Chu Changqing and the others remained undiscovered.

Chen Ling was alone, so he had nothing to fear. Even if simultaneously besieged, he was capable of breaking through.

"Ying Fu... Where exactly are you?"

As Chen Ling pondered, he approached the Huixian Hotel. Just then, a somewhat familiar figure entered his field of vision. It was a tall man in a mink coat, with a Wushan Convention briefcase tucked under his arm. He was yawning as he approached the Half-Mountain Hotel.

Fu Kun.

Chen Ling's eyes immediately narrowed. He casually walked around a corner, and when he reappeared, he was an inconspicuous young man. With his hands in his pockets, he walked unhurriedly towards the street.

Fu Kun was very sleepy. Ever since Chu Changqing was taken last night, Fu Kun had been busy. First, he searched for clues everywhere with Zheng Zhiqin, working for half a day with no results. Then, Ying Fu called him to buy a shop. He and the shop owner discussed the purchase over crawfish, only managing to finalize it in the dead of night. By the time he returned to the hotel, dawn was almost breaking.

He caught up on some sleep, then got up, quickly got ready, and headed to the Wushan Convention. Although he was Ying Fu's subordinate, his public identity as a legitimate businessman brought many conveniences, and he still had to attend the Half-Mountain Hotel meeting on time. Of course, it was hard to say how many 'subjects' like himself were now attending the Wushan Convention.

As Fu Kun walked sluggishly forward, a figure suddenly bumped into his shoulder.

Fu Kun frowned, instinctively about to curse, but the next moment, a pair of eerie, crimson eyes abruptly met his gaze. Along with them came the terrifying aura unique to the King of Calamity!

Fu Kun's heart skipped a beat. He had seen those eyes and felt that terrifying aura before. In Shanghai, the owner of those eyes had nearly destroyed the entire convoy with just one move, and even His Majesty had been repeatedly thwarted by him.

"Don't move," the young man said slowly. "Otherwise, I'll make you experience bone-gnawing, heart-burning torment."

Fu Kun felt something like a python creeping up his pant leg, coiling around his waist. The biting cold instantly made him stiffen! At that moment, Fu Kun had no doubt that with just a thought from the young man in front of him, he would instantly be cut in half. The power gap between them was simply too vast.

"You... What do you want?" Fu Kun said through gritted teeth. "I'm telling you, it's impossible to use me against His Majesty. I'm not afraid to die..."

Chen Ling gave him a cold glance, saying nothing. He simply used the extended red paper tentacles to bind Fu Kun's body, then began walking, slowly moving away from the street and towards the distant mountains. Once they were completely away from the town, he casually flung him. The red paper python wrapped around Fu Kun's body directly slammed him onto a heavy mountain rock, sending him rolling on the ground with a scream.

"If you want to kill me, just do it! I'm not afraid of you!" Fu Kun said, gritting his teeth despite the intense pain wracking his body.

"I have no interest in killing you... at least not now."

Chen Ling bent down, pulled a phone from Fu Kun's pocket, took a picture of the blood-soaked Fu Kun, and then sent it directly to Ying Fu.

Come see me.
