Chapter 1351: Mold

The body of this centipede was even larger than that of the previous Centipede Venom-Head. Most of its body was black, with only its head and the tips of its centipede legs glowing scarlet. As it wriggled and crawled out from the bottom of the abyss, a powerful aura swept across the surroundings!

An Eighth-Tier Venom-Head!

Feeling Wu Yi's aura, a hint of admiration appeared in Chen Ling's eyes.

Wu Yi had done better than he had imagined. Not only had it broken through the siege and become a Venom-Head using its Seventh-Tier rank, but it had also faced death to gain new life, becoming the undisputed leader of the centipede tribe in one fell swoop.

This was perhaps the fastest-progressing and youngest Centipede Venom-Head in the history of the Ghost Mocking Abyss. While Chen Ling's infusion of Crimson Star Vows had certainly played a role, its own effort, determination, and ferocity were also crucial components.

As Wu Yi emerged, all the surrounding centipedes prostrated themselves in worship, as if celebrating the birth of a new Eighth-Tier creature.

Reborn, Wu Yi joyfully danced in the air, like a black and red ribbon, moving through the skies above the abyss. Coupled with the hazy poisonous mist it constantly emitted, from a distance, it resembled a flood dragon leaping over the Dragon Gate and traversing the clouds.

"It's fortunate that the Ghost Mocking Abyss doesn't participate in attacking human territories," Jian Changsheng remarked, seeing this, unable to hold back his feelings. "Just one Eighth-Tier like this could sweep across half a territory..."

Jian Changsheng was also someone who had seen much of the world. Whether it was the destruction of the Aurora Territory, the calamity of the Mortal World Territory, or the recent brutal war in the Hanging Jade Territory, the Eighth-Tier calamities he had witnessed were far less powerful than the Venom-Heads of the Ghost Mocking Abyss.

To say nothing of other things, even Tian Huai, the strongest combatant in the Hanging Jade Territory, would likely have slim chances against this centipede. And the Ghost Mocking Abyss had more than just one Venom-Head like this.

After exercising its new body in the sky, Wu Yi swiftly descended towards the bottom of the abyss. It respectfully prostrated itself before Chen Ling, like a child who had done well on a test, showing off its report card to its parent.

"You've done very well, Wu Yi," Chen Ling said, reaching out to pat its head.

Wu Yi emitted a joyful hiss.

Chen Ling walked directly onto Wu Yi's back, and whispered something to it. The latter immediately nodded, and its body rose from the ground, seemingly intent on leaving the Ghost Mocking Abyss directly.

"Red Heart, where are you going?" Jian Changsheng asked, puzzled.

"Something should be hidden behind the Ghost Mocking Abyss... I'm going to look for it."

Chen Ling had always remembered the location of the Silent Angel marked on the Crimson Heaven Sect's stone tablet. He hadn't made a move these past few days partly because he needed to entertain Jian Changsheng and the others, and partly because he wasn't sure if there would be any danger there. Now that Wu Yi had emerged, and the Ghost Mocking Abyss once again had five Eighth-Tier Venom-Heads, it was time to see what was truly hidden behind the Ghost Mocking Abyss.

"Can we come along?" Jian Changsheng blinked.

Chen Ling hesitated. "I don't know if that place will be dangerous..."

"Then just bring Fangkuai along! He can tell if there's danger at a glance."

Before Jian Changsheng could finish speaking, he saw Sun Bumian walk out of the palace, holding his forehead and grimacing...

"Fangkuai, what happened to you?"

Sun Bumian deliberated for a long time before answering truthfully: "Just now, when I opened the door after using the restroom, I inexplicably slipped and hit my head on the doorframe."

"You hit your head on a doorframe just going to the restroom?" Jian Changsheng was startled. "Your luck is as bad as mine, huh?"

Sun Bumian didn't answer, only glancing at Chen Ling, who was on Wu Yi's head, out of the corner of his eye.

Chen Ling lowered his head, falling silent...

"I'll go by myself," Chen Ling suddenly said. "That place probably won't be easy to find. There's a high chance I'll return empty-handed this time, so you might as well wait for me here."

Although Jian Changsheng really wanted to go out and have some fun, this was Chen Ling's territory after all. If Chen Ling said he wanted to go alone, Jian Changsheng naturally wouldn't insist.

As Chen Ling lightly patted Wu Yi's head, the black and red centipede ascended into the air with Chen Ling on its back, and climbed directly up the cliff face!

After Chen Ling had gone far, Sun Bumian finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"What happened to your hand?" Sun Bumian asked, raising an eyebrow as he saw the bloodstain on Jian Changsheng's hand.

Jian Changsheng shrugged and recounted what had just happened. Sun Bumian's expression immediately turned strange...

"It's just a small scratch, nothing serious."

Jian Changsheng didn't care at all.

Sun Bumian hesitated for a long time before adding: "Don't run around recklessly during this period, and be more careful with what you do. Don't be so rash... Otherwise, next time it won't be just a small scratch."

"Huh? What do you mean?"

Sun Bumian didn't say anything more, but turned and walked directly towards the underground palace.

"Are you leaving already? How about we three play Fight the Landlord?" Jian Changsheng called out.

"No," Sun Bumian waved his hand without looking back.

"I need to go back and catch up on sleep."

The colossal black and red centipede sped across the gray ground, its large red theatrical robe fluttering in the wind.

The abyss's cracks receded behind Chen Ling. He recalled the map carved on the stone tablet in his mind, continuously adjusting Wu Yi's direction. He gazed thoughtfully at the monotonous gray landscape before him.

The gray-world maps currently held by the human territories only roughly marked the locations of several major calamity territories and some terrain. After all, the conditions for humans to travel in the gray world were too harsh; they not only had to resist gray-world contamination but also deal with constantly appearing gray-world calamities. Thus, the further away from human territories, the more blurry the maps became.

In contrast, the maps held by the Fusion Faction were quite detailed. After all, Fusers had an innate advantage in operating within the gray world. Both the level of detail and the scope of their maps far surpassed those of the human territories. However, neither the human territories nor the Fusion Faction had any map records of the gray world beyond the Ghost Mocking Abyss, because no one had ever been able to cross the Ghost Mocking Abyss.

Chen Ling was perhaps the first in nearly a century.

"Oceans, caverns, mountains, forests, islands, wilderness... What does this legendary Seventh Extinction correspond to?"

Although the Crimson Heaven Sect's stone tablet stated that the Silent Angel was not an extinction-level calamity, Chen Ling couldn't help but view it through the lens of extinction. After all, no matter how he looked at it, that thing shouldn't be human... How could a human grow gray wings?

Could an angel belong to the sky?

Chen Ling looked upwards. Aside from vast expanses of lead-gray clouds, he saw nothing.

Time passed moment by moment. Wu Yi galloped at full speed in the direction Chen Ling pointed, having completely left the Ghost Mocking Abyss behind, and delving deep into this heartland of the gray world where even calamities were extremely rare.

Chen Ling checked the sky. Nearly half a day had passed since they left the Ghost Mocking Abyss.

Given Wu Yi's current speed, half a day was enough for it to traverse the distance of two or three territories. Yet, even so, there was still nothing around them...

Just as Chen Ling was about to turn back, his peripheral vision suddenly caught something, and he let out a soft exclamation of surprise.
