Chapter 1426: Hunting Sickness

Chapter 1430: Hunting the Calamity of Thought

Upon witnessing this, the figure in the opera robe seemed unwilling to let it escape. At that moment, countless spectators within its mind were frantically vying for control of the stage, with a different personality taking command almost every second. In such a chaotic and disordered mental state, rational analysis was impossible. Each personality desired to control the body, unleash its power, and indulge in a thrilling experience. Regardless of the enemy, pure emotionality reigned supreme.

However, the Calamity of Fear seemed to sense the mad intention of the Calamity of Mockery. A terrifying aura erupted from its body, and an intense cold enveloped the entire sea and the South Sea Realm, instantly freezing everything for a thousand miles. Simultaneously, countless black incantations, mixed with ice and snow, fluttered down from behind it, emanating an indescribable aura of chaos and eeriness.

This was the Calamity of Fear’s deterrence and warning.

The opera-robed figure, holding a red paper umbrella, narrowed its eyes slightly, appearing hesitant. The Calamity of Fear's combat power was not significantly lower than its own; a fight to the death would undoubtedly prove troublesome. The instincts of its many spectators urged it to turn its gaze from the Calamity of Fear, and it began eagerly seeking its next target for assault.

And so, its gaze fell upon a dishevelled old man who had been driven into the ground.

One against two was the most ideal scenario Chen Ling had envisioned, but the many personalities of the Calamity of Mockery could not be commanded by him. They would naturally seek an optimal solution, as even at its peak, the Calamity of Mockery would struggle to single-handedly take on two World-Eradicators and gain the upper hand. Given this, it was best to pick the weakest target. The Calamity of Fear was troublesome to deal with, but the Calamity of Thought, having merged with a human old man, was undoubtedly a perfect tool for venting its rage.

The spectators, observing from the stands, witnessed everything occurring outside and had adopted Chen Ling’s perspective. If given the choice between fighting the Calamity of Fear or the Calamity of Thought, they would undoubtedly choose the latter. After all, the destruction of the Aurora Realm by the Calamity of Fear was unrelated to them, whereas the Calamity of Thought had openly schemed against all of the Calamity of Mockery’s personalities.

Strokes of writing flew out from beneath the ground, re-forming the figure of the Calamity of Thought above the ruins. His aged body appeared somewhat dishevelled. When he saw that the Calamity of Fear had actually fled with the entire Forbidden Sea, he was even more enraged:

"Fear! You traitor!"

Trust among World-Eradicators was inherently fragile. Once the Calamity of Thought could no longer offer any assistance to the Calamity of Fear, the latter would not risk offending the Calamity of Mockery on its behalf.

Snow and ice fluttered down from the sky.

At the end of the road, the opera robe swayed silently as a figure holding a red paper umbrella, like a crimson demon heralding death, slowly approached. Its crescent-moon-like scarlet eyes gazed at the Calamity of Thought as if it were a mouse to be toyed with at will.

The Calamity of Thought’s expression was extremely grim. Had this been before its merger, when it existed purely as thought without a physical form, it would never have been so wary of the Calamity of Mockery. After all, a phantom thought was impossible to evade. But now that it had completed the merger, its consciousness and body were one, and escaping would no longer be so easy. Such a merger was inherently irreversible. Given a few more years, the Calamity of Thought might have found a way to separate, but that was certainly not an option now.

"Mockery," the Calamity of Thought said through gritted teeth, "the Red Star is returning. If we continue to waste time here, you will die too!"

Those crescent-moon-like, mocking eyes were now filled with arrogance! That expression seemed to say: Red Star? So what?

The Calamity of Thought froze. Staring into the Calamity of Mockery’s scarlet eyes, the Calamity of Thought realized it had gone mad. It seemed to have no intention of using any merger to evade the Red Star's impact; instead, it appeared determined to confront the Red Star head-on, to see if it could truly be killed.

"Even you cannot contend with the Red Star!"

The opera-robed figure couldn't be bothered with idle talk with the Calamity of Thought. At that moment, its eyes held no fear of the Red Star, only an intense craving for an exhilarating experience. It had long been annoyed by the elusive Calamity of Thought. Now that the Calamity of Thought had transformed itself into a human, it was akin to providing the Calamity of Mockery with a "toy" it had never seen before—something far more appealing than any Red Star.

Knowing it couldn't persuade the Calamity of Mockery today, the Calamity of Thought swayed its body, disintegrating itself into thousands of strokes, and vanished directly into nothingness. As a demigod-level practitioner of the Dao of Calligraphy, it possessed powers unimaginable to ordinary practitioners. One of its authorities was "Character Vanish into Void," which allowed it to instantly disassemble itself and transfer to any location where "text" existed within its domain. While speaking with the Calamity of Mockery just now, it had already scattered a large amount of text among the ruins. Although this ability was quite limited compared to the Calamity of Thought’s original thought transfer, it was currently the most effective means of escape.

Above the ruins, the large red opera robe slowly raised its arm. Its fingertip flicked in the void, as if dragging the world’s progress bar. The next second, the strokes that had disintegrated and vanished astonishingly re-emerged from the void, re-forming the figure of the Calamity of Thought!

The Calamity of Thought’s pupils suddenly constricted!

The opera-robed figure sneered, taking a direct step towards the Calamity of Thought. The sleeve of its opera robe pierced through the Calamity of Thought’s chest with lightning speed! Scarlet blood trickled from the corner of the Calamity of Thought’s mouth. It stared in disbelief at the dark face before it, its once fiercely burning aura gradually extinguishing, finally falling silent.

Looking at the cold corpse before it, the opera-robed figure tilted its head slightly. It did not feel the joy of torturing its prey. Yet, it didn’t seem to feel any discomfort. On the contrary, an intense surge of excitement burst forth from those chaotic eyes!

A storm of thought swept out from beneath the opera robe. The next second, its surroundings abruptly shifted. The corpse of the Calamity of Thought, which it had just impaled, had transformed into a long-cold remnant of a calamity, while the real Calamity of Thought was nowhere to be seen. Everything that had just transpired was merely an illusion created by the Calamity of Thought influencing its mind.

A similar storm of thought now remarkably surged forth from beneath the Calamity of Mockery’s opera robe. In its scarlet eyes, an unprecedented sense of exhilaration and ferocity emerged! It had seen the Calamity of Thought with its own eyes and interacted with it at very close range. Given this, it could now capture the Calamity of Thought's thoughts through its own storm of thought. Even if the Calamity of Thought fled to the ends of the earth, it could not escape its perception!

The opera robe danced wildly over the ruins of the South Sea Realm. It quickly locked onto a direction, and the next second, its figure shot forth like lightning!

As its figure vanished into the sky, the ghostly Calamities of Mockery and Abyss Calamities, now scattered throughout the South Sea Realm, were momentarily bewildered. The battle had just begun, their enemy had fled, and their own king was gone. Ultimately, the Five Great Venomous Leaders closely followed their king’s aura, pursuing him in the same direction, while the other calamities immediately followed like waves.
