Chapter 486: Difference Widens

The passenger plane pierced through the ink-like clouds and began its gradual descent towards the ground.

As the altitude decreased, specks of light appeared on the dark earth. Passengers knew the plane was about to land, and the cabin grew progressively noisy and bustling.

Over the intercom, the flight attendant's customary announcement played, reminding everyone to stow their tray tables and fasten their seatbelts. Everything seemed normal, except for Yang Xiao, sitting alone by the window in first class, whose hands were constantly sweating, indicating he was feeling quite uneasy.

The seat beside him was empty; Chen Ling had not yet returned.

Nie Yu, meanwhile, lay reclined in his seat, eyes closed, seemingly in a deep sleep.

"Excuse me, sir, please stow your tray table, thank you," a flight attendant said kindly as she approached Nie Yu.

Nie Yu slowly opened his eyes, looking displeased, but he tucked away the table. Then he closed his eyes again, seemingly resuming his sleep. Just then, a conversation from behind the curtain reached his ears.

Voices from behind the curtain spoke of A-Ya's absence. Someone wondered where she could be in such a small cabin, suggesting the restroom. Another noted the restroom door was locked and seemed stuck. They called out A-Ya's name, asking if she was inside.

As the flight attendants' voices continued from behind the curtain, Yang Xiao's palms grew even sweatier. Knowing Chen Ling's plan, his heart was now in his throat.

Hearing this conversation, Nie Yu in the adjacent seat also opened his eyes, frowning as he looked towards the curtain, lost in thought.

The flight attendants waited a long time by the restroom door but received no response. The lead attendant also tried to enter the cockpit, only to find that door was likewise jammed. A sense of unease suddenly crept into everyone's minds.

The lead flight attendant then contacted the cockpit via her communication device and sighed with relief. She announced that A-Ya had gone to deliver water to the pilots, but the door seemed to have jammed, trapping her inside.

The passengers' doubts finally dissipated. Though still somewhat puzzled, as the plane continued its descent, the attendants returned to their positions and prepared for landing.

Just before the plane landed, a figure unhurriedly emerged from behind the curtain and sat down beside Yang Xiao.

Seeing Chen Ling return, Yang Xiao immediately messaged him, inquiring about the outcome.

Chen Ling didn't reply because he felt a questioning gaze from the side. He turned his head, and his eyes met Nie Yu's.

The next moment, a brilliant smile appeared on Chen Ling's face.

Nie Yu reacted with confusion.

Audience expectation: 3

For some reason, Nie Yu suddenly had a bad feeling.

The plane slowly came to a halt on the runway, but the cabin door remained closed. Passengers who had already stood up and retrieved their luggage immediately began to grumble. Just then, a surprised voice rang out from the crowd, asking if the vehicles were from the SWAT team.

At this exclamation, Nie Yu abruptly sat upright in his seat and looked out the window.

Around the airport runway in the night sky, special vehicles with flashing police lights rapidly surrounded the plane. The red and blue lights resembled an ocean, glaring painfully in everyone's eyes.

All the passengers were dumbfounded; they had no idea what was happening. The crowd, who had been ready to deplane with their luggage, obediently sat back down, and a cacophony of chatter filled the cabin.

Nie Yu stared out the window, his face a mixture of bewilderment and confusion. His calloused hand unconsciously clenched, and his eyes glinted with caution.

He thought to himself that something was wrong.

His documents for air travel had been specially processed by others. He had flown so many times before without issue, so there was no reason to be discovered this time. Was it because of something else?

Clang—

As the cabin door swung open, armed figures stormed into the plane, quickly securing all areas. A deep voice then announced that passengers should not be alarmed; they were from the Jingnan City Public Security Bureau and had taken control of a hijacked aircraft, requesting everyone's cooperation.

Upon hearing this, everyone was stunned.

Jingnan City?

Hijacked???

These two words buzzed in everyone's minds, and a shared question arose: when had they been hijacked?

Before anyone could fully react, the armed special operatives broke open the cockpit door and rescued the two sweating pilots.

A special operative asked in a low voice about the hijacker's location.

The pilot's gaze swept across the cabin, instantly locking onto Nie Yu in first class, and he abruptly pointed at him, exclaiming that it was him, the hijacker, and that he was armed.

Nie Yu reacted with profound bewilderment.

Orders immediately rang out for him to put his hands on his head and squat down.

Nie Yu was completely dumbfounded. Before he could react, several muzzles were instantly trained on him, and the atmosphere in the first-class cabin dropped to freezing.

Although Nie Yu's abilities rendered these firearms no threat to him, having grown up in modern society, he knew very well that confronting the public security system head-on in this situation would be irrational, unless he wished to withstand aircraft missiles with his bare body. Even if he were to escape, he needed to find a suitable moment, and with airport runways all around, there was nowhere to hide.

Helplessly, he could only put his hands on his head and squat down for the time being. But he couldn't understand: he had just been sleeping in his seat; how had he become a hijacker?!

Nie Yu asked in a deep voice if there was some misunderstanding, asserting that he had been sleeping the whole time and could not possibly have hijacked the plane.

The pilot immediately retorted, insisting it was him and that surveillance cameras had captured everything. He claimed Nie Yu left his seat shortly after takeoff and didn't return until just before landing, and that the cockpit cameras clearly recorded his face.

Nie Yu's eyes were fixed on him, disbelieving the pilot's ridiculous claims.

Meanwhile, the officer responsible for retrieving surveillance footage nodded.

He confirmed that the pilot was correct, stating that Nie Yu had indeed left his seat twenty-five minutes after takeoff, entered the cockpit, and held the pilots hostage, with video surveillance confirming the entire sequence of events.

As he spoke, he showed Nie Yu a glimpse of the surveillance video. The footage showed Nie Yu standing behind the two pilots, holding a gun, his expression as cold as ice.

Nie Yu stared at the scene in shock, his mind momentarily frozen.

An order was given to search him.

Numerous figures swarmed him and began to search his person. Sure enough, a dark handgun was pulled from his pocket, perfectly matching the one seen in the surveillance video. Yet Nie Yu distinctly remembered that pocket originally holding his cell phone.

Everything happening before his eyes felt so unreal; Nie Yu even wondered if he was dreaming. In a daze, he saw several figures dragging out his luggage, which they opened right there in the cabin. A gasp of astonishment followed, someone exclaiming at the sight of gold, noting it was entirely filled with the precious metal. An order was given to confiscate all of it.

Several guns pointed at Nie Yu, forcing him to disembark from the plane. All the evidence, including the handgun, surveillance video, and a large quantity of gold of unknown origin, was transferred. Nie Yu watched all of this blankly, then as if remembering something, he suddenly turned his head to look back!

Just in front of the aircraft's door, a figure clad in a brown overcoat stood calmly, looking down at him with a faint smile playing on their lips.

A voice calmly stated that the gap had now widened.
