Chapter 505: Stealing Home

Nie Yu slowly closed her eyes. Her double pupils gradually faded, and when she opened her eyes again, they had returned to their original state.

"You found them already?" Vulture asked, surprised.

"I didn't expect the man in brown to be able to fly," Nie Yu said gravely. "If the others hadn't been in a car, leaving tracks on the road, it would have been truly difficult to find him..."

"He can control electronic devices, change his appearance, and fly? Who is this person?"

"I don't know."

"What do you plan to do next?"

"Chase him and kill him," Nie Yu replied without hesitation.

"What about the people I found for you?"

"I'll need them... I'll handle the man in brown, but I'll need someone to kill Su Zhiwei. Have them come with me."

Vulture extended his hand out the car window and flicked ash from his cigarette. "No problem, but let's be clear: payment needs to be upfront... And as before, I'm only responsible for assigning tasks for you; I won't show my face."

Nie Yu gave him a cold look, said nothing more, and walked straight ahead, her hunting rifle on her back.

"Go hide back in your cellar."

Outside the Su Residence.

A young man wearing a baseball cap and a hoodie slowly stopped in front of the closed gate.

"There are no signs the door has been opened... Either no one has arrived yet, or they already know it's empty inside," Chen Ling thought to himself, casually glancing at the door crack.

It had been almost three days since Nie Yu was captured. Logically, given his abilities, he should have escaped by now... so it could only be the latter.

When Chen Ling left with Su Zhiwei and the others, a group of assassins had pursued them. Although Chen Ling killed them all, according to the last two assassins, there was a man codenamed "Vulture" behind them who worked specifically for Nie Yu... It was unlikely that Nie Yu wouldn't search the Su Residence without information, so it was highly probable that he and Vulture had already met and knew that Chen Ling and his group had escaped.

"Now both sides are hiding in the dark. It's a matter of who finds whom first."

Chen Ling quickly grasped the general situation after a brief thought, while also scanning the surroundings.

There were no tall buildings in Gusu city. To monitor the Su Residence, one couldn't be too far away, and there weren't many options... Soon, Chen Ling pinpointed four possible locations and walked towards them with his hands in his hoodie pockets.

As he walked, Chen Ling opened his flip phone and lightly pressed a dial button.

Simultaneously, all surveillance cameras he passed were forcefully accessed, their feeds appearing one after another on his phone screen.

"Not this road... not this one... this road is too narrow to park on... So it must be..."

"Hmm?"

Chen Ling stopped abruptly in front of a low-rise building.

On the phone screen, he saw a figure hastily running out of the low-rise building, diving into the passenger seat. After seemingly saying something, the vehicle quickly drove out of the alley... Chen Ling recognized that person; he had shot them on the highway before they could finish speaking.

"So this is where they were..." Chen Ling's eyes lit up slightly.

He immediately rewound the surveillance footage to an earlier time. About an hour before Chen Ling and his group arrived at the Su Residence, this car had driven into the alley. There were three people inside: the two whom Chen Ling had killed, and another figure in a black uniform, who looked like a bartender.

However, when the two assassins drove off to track Chen Ling and his group, the bartender did not go downstairs. Instead, about forty minutes later, he walked out alone and headed on foot towards a darker, more complex alleyway.

Chen Ling was 99% certain that this man was "Vulture."

Chen Ling slowly lowered his flip phone, his gaze fixed on the dark alley where Vulture had departed, and a slight smile played on his lips:

"It seems... I got here first."

Over an hour later.

Chen Ling put away his flip phone, his eyes narrowing as he looked at the abandoned path leading underground.

This place looked like an electric bike parking lot in an old part of the city, but the surrounding houses were all empty, and even the walls bore large "DEMOLISH" signs, clearly indicating it had been abandoned for a long time.

As it was a derelict area, electronic surveillance coverage was incomplete. Once he went deeper, Chen Ling couldn't rely on cameras to track Vulture, and he had to search each fork in the path individually... The good news was that no surveillance cameras on the surrounding main roads showed Vulture emerging, so his hiding place had to be within this abandoned zone.

After searching for a long time, the only place where someone could hide was this underground space.

Chen Ling descended the steps into the underground space, the light around him quickly dimming. A foul odor wafted up from the depths, smelling like mold from long-fermented garbage...

In the darkness, his eyes remained bright. He reached for the gun and boning knife in his pocket, his vigilance heightened to the maximum.

Soon, a rust-covered doorway appeared before him...

Chen Ling tentatively reached for the doorknob, and with a slight push, the door opened a crack. It didn't seem to be locked. As he gradually pushed the door wide open, a very secluded underground bar came into view.

Old flooring, empty tables and chairs, dim neon signs... There was no one in sight, only cigarette butts and broken glass shards scattered across the floor, telling tales of what once was.

Chen Ling slowly walked into the bar, his brow unconsciously furrowing.

"No one... Am I too late?"

Just as a feeling of dread settled in Chen Ling's heart, footsteps came from outside the door, as if someone was approaching through the underground passage.

Chen Ling immediately closed the iron door again and peered through the crack. He saw that the person approaching was none other than Vulture, whom he had just seen on surveillance.

Alone?

Chen Ling's mind raced.

As Vulture reached the doorway, an idea flashed through Chen Ling's mind. He immediately brought his hand to his chin and ripped forcefully!

Screech—!

The old iron door opened, letting out a grating sound.

Vulture walked into the bar, about to close the door behind him, when out of the corner of his eye, he saw a familiar figure sitting at the bar, staring coldly at him.

Vulture froze on the spot.

"...You... What are you doing here?"

Black fabric draped from the edge of the high stool. "Nie Yu" toyed with the highball glass in his hand, his gaze as cold as a blade.

"Vulture, your vigilance is getting worse," "Nie Yu" said coldly. "You leave without even locking the door? Are you trying to expose this place?"

"No one usually comes here, and there's nothing important..."

Vulture instinctively began to explain, but then he quickly realized and retorted, "Didn't you follow the clues to pursue Su Zhiwei and them?"

Chen Ling's heart sank upon hearing that.

Pursue Su Zhiwei? He had already eliminated all surveillance. Did Nie Yu still have a way to track them?

"Nie Yu" didn't speak. He slowly placed the glass on the table. After a long silence, he finally said gravely:

"...I failed."
