Chapter 622: Detainment

Humanity Covenant, Article 139: In any realm, any discovered member of the Twilight Society shall immediately be placed on the highest-priority kill list, even above the 'Fusionists' and 'Fire Usurpers.'

Apparently concerned that Chen Ling wouldn't understand, a Fushuheng member immediately offered a further explanation.

Chen Ling looked at Yang Muquan in the crowd. Although he didn't recognize the man, the oppressive aura emanating from him suggested he was likely a seventh-rank, one of Fushuheng's Nine Great Halls. However, it was difficult to determine which specific hall he belonged to.

Upon hearing this, Chen Ling's expression gradually darkened. As he was about to speak, Wang Jincheng's voice suddenly rang out from behind him:

"Wait!"

Wang Jincheng stumbled over to Chen Ling's side.

Chen Ling was surprised that Wang Jincheng would step forward at this moment and glanced at him in astonishment. Wang Jincheng, however, ignored him completely and addressed the numerous Fushuheng members:

"I personally feel that hunting him down now might not be wise..."

"'Director Wang, I haven't even had a chance to hold you accountable for this yet,' Yang Muquan said gravely. 'You were the one responsible for hunting Red Heart 6, and you were the one who reported him dead... Yet, he's just appeared here. Don't you have anything to explain?'"

Wang Jincheng was momentarily speechless but eventually forced himself to respond, "This is indeed my dereliction of duty; I never expected him to... Let's set that aside for now. My point is, hunting Red Heart 6 at this moment might not be a good idea."

Yang Muquan and Wang Jincheng had known each other for a long time, and he naturally understood Wang Jincheng's character. It was impossible that he had intentionally let Red Heart 6 escape. Yang Muquan patiently continued to question him:

"What are you suggesting?"

"'First, as everyone just witnessed, Red Heart 6 appears to be unkillable. If we fail to hunt him here, he still has a high probability of escaping. Second, Red Heart 6's behavior is extremely bizarre, and he possesses many secrets. If we can ensure safety, keeping him alive might yield greater value. Third, he actively slaughtered the Scarlet Sky cultists, so he might know some hidden secrets behind this attack. Questioning him could lead to unexpected discoveries...'"

Wang Jincheng spoke at length, finally concluding:

"'In short, I believe we should first detain Red Heart 6. As for whether to kill him or not, we can decide later!'"

Upon hearing this, Yang Muquan fell into deep thought.

What Wang Jincheng said made a lot of sense. Taking action here, regardless of whether they could kill Red Heart 6, even if they succeeded, it wouldn't offer any benefit to Fushuheng. Taking him back for detention might indeed be a good choice.

However, facing an extremely volatile element like Red Heart 6, Yang Muquan lacked the authority to make a unilateral decision. He pulled out his walkie-talkie, pressed the button, and reiterated his idea to the person on the other end.

After speaking, he quietly held the walkie-talkie, waiting for the other party's response.

Static crackled...

"'Regarding Red Heart 6's disposition, you'll have to wait for the Second Hall's decision; I'm quite busy right now.' Lu Liangren's voice came from the other end of the walkie-talkie, tinged with apparent anger. 'I located the source of the alchemy array underground, but they seem to have escaped... The trail has gone cold again.'"

Yang Muquan froze, and just as he pressed the button again to reply, the walkie-talkie in his hand suddenly shifted, transforming into a bloody piece of rubble.

Yang Muquan and the other Fushuheng members were simultaneously stunned. The next moment, Yang Muquan abruptly turned his head to stare at Chen Ling!

"You...!"

"'I am Red Heart 6, Chen Ling.' Chen Ling held the walkie-talkie and calmly pressed the button."

No one had anticipated Chen Ling snatching the walkie-talkie at that moment. Yang Muquan and the others were startled and were about to forcefully intervene, but the corner of the grand red opera robe's mouth curved slightly upward as a calm voice delivered the latter part of the message:

"'Regarding the mastermind behind this attack, and the crisis the Mortal Realm has been facing recently... I may have some clues.'"

"Why did they leave??"

Jian Changsheng watched Chen Ling blend in with the Fushuheng group, heading directly in a certain direction, and a look of astonishment immediately appeared in his eyes.

"'I knew Red Heart 6 could handle it,' Diamond 10 said, letting out a slight breath of relief. 'Don't forget, we still haven't located the Mortal Realm base...'"

"'Are you suggesting... he intentionally allowed himself to be captured to find a way to the Mortal Realm base?'"

"'I just think this is something Red Heart 6 would do. However, it's best to have Club J confirm it.'"

Diamond 10 turned to look at Club J. After a slight nod, Club J took a white handkerchief from his pocket, rubbed it in his hand, and the next moment, it astonishingly transformed into a white dove. The bird flapped its wings and flew towards Chen Ling.

"'Let's follow them first,' Club J said. 'If anything unexpected happens, we can still intercept him immediately.'"

"'What about Jinghong Tower? Senior Bai Ye is still there...'"

"'I'll go to Jinghong Tower,' Diamond 10 said, glancing in a certain direction. 'If Fushuheng acts quickly and sends people to search Jinghong Tower, it would indeed be problematic... If I'm stationed there, I can at least take Red Heart Q away at any moment.'"

"'Okay, then let's keep in touch at all times.'"

Club J raised his hand again. A white dove flew to Diamond 10's shoulder and settled there, then vanished with him swiftly beyond the horizon.

Jian Changsheng, Red Heart 9, and Club J's gazes ultimately fixed on Chen Ling in the distance...

"Now, we'll see what Red Heart 6 does."

Above the lead-gray clouds.

As the Scarlet Sky cultists perished and the Red Star aura was devoured by Chen Ling, the tempting 'bonfire' that had been burning fiercely was completely extinguished in a pool of blood. Even the rapidly expanding convergence point in the sky ceased to grow.

The bonfire that attracted the 'World Destroyer' had been claimed by another 'World Destroyer,' leaving the world seemingly in endless silence...

The Fushuheng members, believing they had disrupted the ritual, no longer paid attention to the massive, stagnant convergence point. In their understanding, since the 'bonfire' was extinguished, the 'World Destroyer' naturally had no reason to descend.

However, the truth appeared to be otherwise.

As the blood on the ground gradually dried, beyond the massive, bird's nest-like Grey Realm convergence point, upon the wilderness churning with endless sighs, an incredibly terrifying entity slowly opened its ethereal eyes amidst the raging wind.

Those were hollow eyes, resembling two pale suns within the sighing gales, now fixed intently on the colossal Grey Realm convergence point.

It had been drawn here by a wisp of strange fragrance, but before its true form could descend, a familiar yet alien scent usurped what was rightfully its. Flames, named 'Wrath,' began to burn fiercely within those pale, sun-like eyes!

A low, thunderous, indistinct word echoed above the Sighing Wilderness:

"Mock..."
