Chapter 830: I Come to Retrieve a Person's Soul

Jian Changsheng slightly turned his head and looked at the last surviving participant around him.

That participant shivered violently and stumbled backward... Even knowing that death here wasn't permanent, Jian Changsheng's surging killing intent still made him fear death.

Step by step, he stumbled away from the Celestial Alignment position, his face utterly pale!

"Brother, brother... I was wrong. I won't compete with you for this Celestial Alignment position, alright?"

Jian Changsheng didn't reply. He simply watched the man quietly. The blood-red longsword in his hand let out a thunderous roar, soaring forward with unperceivable speed and piercing through the man's chest!

*Bang—!*

A cloud of blood mist exploded from him, and under his utterly terrified gaze, a lifeless corpse thumped to the ground.

Jian Changsheng's killing intent surged once more. A black divine ring of killing aura rotated behind him, appearing to have solidified.

He closed his bloodshot eyes, took a deep breath, and slowly exhaled...

Twelvefold amplification!

The starlight of the Celestial Alignment position flowed silently. Around the throne, no one else remained—only scattered corpses and thick pools of blood.

Bathed in blood, Jian Changsheng, sword in hand, slowly walked toward the towering throne.

All competitors for this Celestial Alignment position had been killed by him. As long as he remained there, he could sit upon it when the final moment arrived... Jian Changsheng's eyes showed a complex emotion as he looked at the seat that could defy fate and change destiny.

His blood-stained fingertips lightly traced the armrest of the seat, as if feeling its hardness and temperature. There was a hint of reluctance, and a touch of envy...

The privilege in his hand glowed once more, flickering like a countdown.

"Time's almost up," Jian Changsheng murmured.

"You don't belong to me... Wait for your destined one."

As his words fell, Jian Changsheng turned, sword in hand.

A drop of blood rapidly shot out from beside him and soared into the distance. His figure instantly vanished from the spot!

Under the dark night sky,

Kongwang's hands formed a seal, his soul buzzing as it radiated wildly outwards. Beneath his lowered eyelids, a pair of eyes fixed on the participants clumsily rushing from a distance.

These participants came from all directions. Apart from a very few with powerful souls, almost everyone else was affected, and few had any strength left to guard the Celestial Alignment position... Both the surviving referees and the few remaining participants were converging on Kongwang's location!

If Kongwang wasn't killed, everyone would die!

On the clock tower, Mr. Han, while maintaining the Realm of Dying Embers, frowned as he watched the distant melee, sighing deeply in his heart.

His gaze shifted to the several towering pillars of starlight, scattered throughout the old district and reaching directly into the clouds.

"It's almost impossible for these young people to defeat Kongwang," he muttered. "I wonder how long the Celestial Tower will take... I hope they can make it in time."

Just then, Mr. Han noticed something and murmured in confusion,

"Why are there still only six Celestial Alignment positions... Has the seventh position not been activated yet?"

With a loud bang, several participants who had rushed skyward to try and stop Kongwang were flung back by the immense force that shattered the sky. They plummeted like meteors, crashing into the ground with a roar, sending up continuous clouds of dust.

Kongwang, controlling his army of souls, indifferently looked down at the participants who rushed out one after another amidst soul-piercing shrieks. A cold gleam flashed in his Yin-Yang eyes, and his lips parted slightly...

"Tremble!"

The souls of the three closest participants instantly left their bodies. The next moment, their heads were severed by sharp ink strokes. As blood gushed, three souls were torn from their bodies, becoming one of Kongwang's continuous sources of power!

The three souls were drained by chains, and the souls hovering above the ground grew increasingly solid. Kongwang stepped into the void, and the ultimate Divine Strength Path directly made the air roar with a sharp bang. Several participants were sent flying backward, spitting blood from the impact!

In front of the current Kongwang, the young prodigies of the Divine Path from various realms seemed as fragile as paper. For a time, no one could even withstand a single move from him... This was simply a one-sided slaughter.

"Shouldn't we make our move now?" Spade 7 walked up to an inconspicuous participant and spoke in a deep voice.

"No, absolutely not until the very last moment," the person replied, glancing around. "Don't forget, this is the Tian Shu realm, and outside, it's surrounded by realm representatives and all the top combatants from the Celestial Tower. It's a true net from heaven and earth...

"Once we reveal our true strength, our identities will likely be exposed. Even if we kill this Kongwang, the people of the Tian Shu realm will never let the Twilight Society leave."

"But if we don't act now, the Ghost-God Path will kill everyone else and then come for us... We can't just hand over our souls to the Ghost-God Path, can we?"

"Let's wait a little longer... I believe the Five Great Realms won't just stand by idly. They must be taking action, and perhaps there's still a turning point for everything."

"...Damn it, I knew I shouldn't have gotten involved in this mess," Spade 7 grumbled.

"By the way, where's Heart 7?"

"Oh, he died long ago. Didn't you see him? The most pathetic and ragged one in that Ghost-God Path's soul army was him."

A sharp intake of breath.

As they whispered, Kongwang seized the opportunity to kill two more participants.

As blood stained the ground, participants and previously fleeing referees were rapidly dwindling in number. Roughly estimated, there were no more than fifteen people still alive in the entire old district.

At this rate, it might not be impossible for Kongwang to slaughter everyone in the old district within five minutes.

New souls floated up from behind Kongwang. He hovered in mid-air, like an unstoppable demon god. The ultimate Divine Strength Path gathered in his palm, and at the same time, the massive stones scattered across the battlefield began to converge in mid-air, instantly forming a gigantic rake!

Kongwang's peripheral vision caught sight of the remaining Spade 7 and others...

He casually raised his hand and waved.

The sky-obscuring Divine Strength Rake roared through the air, as if it would smash the entire block into pieces. Just as it was about to strike, a bloody shadow streaked across the sky!

*Boom—!!*

Accompanied by five overlapping thunderous roars in the sky, a blood-red sword shadow directly pierced through the rake in mid-air. Shattered boulders rained down like droplets, and the rake began to disintegrate in the air!

Kongwang's brows furrowed slightly. He deftly sidestepped as the longsword that had pierced the boulders flew past, almost grazing his cheek. After shattering another building, half of it plunged into the ruins of the earth.

Kongwang's Yin-Yang eyes narrowed slightly.

A figure in black with a wolf tail, and a divine ring of killing aura behind him, appeared out of thin air. His hand calmly gripped the bloodstains on the longsword's hilt—the very medium through which he had instantly swapped places...

Jian Changsheng slowly pulled the blood-red longsword from the ruins, his indifferent gaze rising to meet Kongwang, who floated in the air.

"This killing aura... interesting." Kongwang observed Jian Changsheng, seemingly sensing something from the wisp of the divine killing ring. His brows furrowed slightly. "Who are you?"

"My name is Jian Changsheng."

Jian Changsheng held his sword with one hand and spoke calmly, "I've come to reclaim a person's soul."
