Chapter 969: Dancing

Jiang Jiang reached for her phone, only to remember it was still in her down jacket pocket downstairs.

"How mortifying!" Jiang Jiang exclaimed, her face red with anger and embarrassment.

Regardless of how she behaved with Qin Juan in private, at the studio, she was still the director. She usually presented a graceful and dignified image to the designers, maintaining a proper distance from Qin Juan.

But just now, from behind, it had looked like she was practically lunging at Qin Juan, feeding him loquats with a spoon, and even calling him "Xiao Jun Jun."

The more Jiang Jiang thought about it, the more annoyed she became. She sat on the nearby sofa, burying her face. "I want to die!" she muttered.

Qin Juan calmly finished the loquats in his bowl. He was about to say something to her, but when he looked up, his eyes widened.

Jiang Jiang was sprawled on the sofa, having forgotten she was wearing a skirt. It had ridden up, revealing two slender, snow-white legs—perfectly sculpted and smooth. Against the black velvet, they were dazzlingly pale.

Qin Juan's throat bobbed. He shifted his gaze and said dispassionately, "The window's open. If you don't want to live, jump."

"It's only the second floor," Jiang Jiang retorted indignantly. "I wouldn't die from that fall!"

"If you end up crippled, I'll take care of you," Qin Juan said flatly. "It's pretty much the same as it is now anyway!"

Jiang Jiang sat up, hugging a cushion. "What do you mean, 'pretty much the same'?"

"What do you think?" Qin Juan raised his gaze, looking at her coolly. "When you're sick, I take care of you. I buy you the food you like. Even the money you spend every month comes from me!"

Jiang Jiang's eyes slowly widened.

On second thought, it seemed he was right!

She tilted her chin. "Well, if you're already supporting me, why would I bother crippling myself? That would be completely unnecessary!"

Qin Juan looked at her blandly. "Right now, you work, and I give you money. But if you were crippled, you wouldn't need to work, and I'd still give you money!"

Jiang Jiang suddenly burst out laughing, leaning sideways on the sofa and clutching her stomach. "Could you please stop talking so formally? It sounds like we're negotiating a spousal support agreement!"

Qin Juan raised his hand and glanced at his watch. "Five minutes left!"

"Five minutes for what?" Jiang Jiang asked, before immediately realizing. She quickly got up, walked over, and sat opposite Qin Juan, pulling out her laptop and tidying her hair as she shifted into work mode.

Qin Juan glanced at her, a faint smile playing on his lips.

The video conference resumed. Jiang Jiang's face, warm and dignified, appeared on screen. She looked completely unfazed, as if nothing had happened.

The others also acted as if they hadn't seen a thing.

The meeting lasted an hour. While Mi Yao was discussing the plan, Jiang Jiang winced and twisted her lower back.

Qin Juan glanced up at her. After Mi Yao finished speaking, he said flatly, "That concludes today's meeting. Please finalize the issues we discussed as soon as possible. You are dismissed."

After the meeting ended, Jiang Jiang stretched with a long sigh, a pained expression on her face.

Qin Juan frowned. "Your back isn't better yet?"

A couple of days earlier, Jiang Jiang had played badminton with a child in the courtyard, only to twist her back after just two rounds. Qin Juan had thoroughly ridiculed her for it.

"It hurts when I sit for too long!" Jiang Jiang said, rubbing her lower back.

"Lie down on the sofa," Qin Juan said. "I'll rub it for you."

"Okay!"

Jiang Jiang went to the sofa and lay face down. Qin Juan sat beside her, pressing his palm on her lower back with a gentle, steady pressure.

Jiang Jiang rested her face on the back of her hand, turning her head to smile. "I feel so useless," she said. "Imagine twisting my back just playing a game, and I'm only in my twenties!"

"That's what happens when you overexert yourself, reaching for balls that are out of your league!" Qin Juan said coldly.

"I just didn't want to look bad in front of the kid!"

"The result was even more embarrassing, wasn't it?" Qin Juan replied without mercy.
