Chapter 783: Impossible

However, Old Niu tugged at Lu Shanjun, but he didn't budge immediately. Lu Shanjun remained fixated on the sky, then cast his gaze towards Old Niu and Beimux.

“It seems we can’t just leave at will.”

Despite this, Lu Shanjun averted his gaze and hurried with Old Niu and Beimux towards a specific part of the city. Along the streets, shops were already filled with pedestrians and merchants seeking shelter from the rain. People were running swiftly, and vendors were frantically packing up their stalls. Panic etched their faces, a common reaction to such a gathering of thunderclouds, a sight largely unprecedented for mortals.

By this point, demonic and evil energies began to permeate the city, as the need for concealment had vanished. While some, like Lu Shanjun, still hid their auras, the sheer presence of these energies made the city feel like a chaotic dance of demons. Though perhaps not numerous, each aura was formidable.

Were it not for the tens of thousands of common people still residing in the city, the intertwined demonic, evil, and sinister auras alone would make it appear truly like a city of monsters.

Old Niu, Lu Shanjun, and Beimux hastened along. At the entrance of an inn, the youthful-looking Wang Youhong stood with two other monsters, gazing at the sky. As if sensing something, Wang Youhong’s eyes shifted to the end of the street, immediately catching sight of Old Niu and his companions rushing towards them.

‘Lu Wu, Beimux?’

Old Niu moved with incredible speed, calling out to Wang Youhong even before reaching the inn.

“Wang, figure out a way for us to escape this predicament. Surely, we don’t all have to perish together in this situation, do we?”

When Old Niu and the others began speaking, they were still at the street corner. By the time the last word left their lips, all three had already reached the inn’s entrance. Onlookers along the street were dumbfounded, amazed at how they moved like a whirlwind. However, Old Niu felt that under the current circumstances, there was no need to hide their abilities from mortals.

“Hmph, if they want us to live or die together, I certainly won’t agree to it.”

The youth, holding a peach branch, sneered. The branch then effortlessly pierced the inn’s floor, immediately sprouting roots. The flower buds on it slowly began to unfurl.

The blooming peach blossoms, red as blood, shed their petals at their most vibrant, each one fluttering towards a nearby person. Niu Batian, Lu Shanjun, and their companions each caught a petal.

Many other petals flew towards the innkeeper, the staff, other guests, and nearby townsfolk. Upon seeing the beautiful petals, they instinctively reached out to catch them. The delicate peach blossoms instantly dissolved into their bodies, leaving them curious and surprised as they examined themselves, unable to find anything amiss.

“What are you doing?” Lu Shanjun asked, squinting. Wang Youhong smiled, pointing to the sky.

“Although the immortals above spoke with resolve, they would never truly disregard the lives of mortals. There’s no need for us to desperately flee; we can simply remain hidden within this inn.”

The innkeeper, at this moment, also walked out from behind the counter and approached, curiously looking at the small peach tree on the ground.

“Are you, honored guest, a master of magic, a powerful sorcerer? This peach tree…?”

Beimux spoke first, taking out a silver ingot and handing it to the innkeeper with a smile. “I’d say that’s very likely. By the way, innkeeper, please prepare two superior rooms for us as well.”

“Uh, alright.”

As they spoke, a booming rumble of thunder echoed outside, making the innkeeper shiver. Muttering about the strange thunderclouds, he went to record the transaction.

The collision of auras from above and below intensified. Even ordinary people began to feel incredibly stifled, struggling to breathe. Even those who had returned home to seek shelter from the rain found themselves opening windows or standing at their doorways for air.

The heavens finally opened, and the pouring rain began. But within moments, the soldiers guarding the city gates were paralyzed with fear, collapsing to the ground. In the distance, a terrifying deluge, as if an entire river had overturned, surged towards the city.

“Roar——” “Roar…”“Roar…”

Accompanied by deep roars and dragon cries, numerous shadowy dragon figures emerged within the floodwaters. As demonic light flared on city walls and rooftops, the immense flood, with overwhelming force, surged into the city.

Some city residents, seeing the vast floodwaters surging over the city walls, could only stare blankly. Their immediate thought was how human strength could possibly contend with such an overwhelming torrent.

Boom… Boom… Crash…

The city walls directly crumbled under the flood’s peak. In mere moments, vast areas of houses were swept away. The flood was utterly unstoppable; whether it was a tower, a humble dwelling, a grand courtyard, or a narrow alley, every structure was obliterated by the surging waters.

“Ah…” “The great flood is here…”“Run!” “Oh heavens!”

The residents screamed in panic, terror gripping everyone’s hearts. Mortals cried out and fled, but whether indoors or out, no one could outrun the flood. They were all quickly engulfed by the overwhelming torrent.

As the floodwaters engulfed the entire city, streaks of demonic, evil, and dark energies shot skyward, transforming into Apocalypse Alliance monsters in mid-air. Some of these beings emitted demonic auras that blazed like fire, while others inherently commanded wind and clouds.

At the moment the flood struck, Lu Shanjun, Niu Batian, and the others instinctively intended to fly into the sky, particularly as numerous flood dragon figures emerged within the surge. However, just as they were about to ascend, Wang Youhong stopped them.

“Don’t move, stay inside the inn!”

“What? Are you out of your mind?”

Old Niu’s mind reeled; although he clearly saw through Wang Youhong’s intentions, he roared furiously, his eyes bloodshot, as if desperate to rush out. Lu Shanjun, meanwhile, stepped directly in front of him, gripping his shoulder tightly.

“Savage Ox, if you want to die, I won’t stop you, but don’t drag us down. Remember, don’t struggle!”

Wang Youhong, seeing Lu Wu restrain Niu Batian, delivered this quiet sarcastic remark and instruction. Yet, he barely had time to finish; Old Niu couldn’t even retort, managing only to utter a single “You” before the massive floodwaters engulfed them.

Boom…

The entire inn was instantly obliterated. The flood’s peak reached at least twenty-some zhang, far exceeding the height of the city’s tallest tower.

Powerful currents tore at everyone. Old Niu looked as if he was about to lash out, but he was immediately restrained by Lu Shanjun, Wang Youhong, and Beimux working in concert. The other two monsters cowered to the side, not daring to make any additional moves.

“Roar” “Roar”

Numerous mighty dragon cries reverberated through the inn’s ruins. Even without precise counting, at least dozens of colossal old flood dragons passed by, a truly terrifying sight.

Any monsters caught in the floodwaters who hadn’t ascended in time found their demonic and evil auras almost instantly targeted by the flood dragons. These dragons collectively churned the water or swallowed, their terrifying power nearly pulverizing the city as it succumbed to the flood’s peak.

However, at this point, Lu Shanjun and the others realized that after the initial shock, their bodies were no longer being severely torn. They were simply propelled forward by the current, though at a surprisingly moderate speed.

Wang Youhong gestured to their surroundings. Old Niu, his eyes still bloodshot, also seemed to finally calm down. Within their view, the innkeeper and several mortals were being swept along by the current, caught, like them, in massive underwater whirlpools.

These mortals had clearly all fainted. Some had undoubtedly died, but from all appearances, those whose bodies showed no significant injuries seemed to have died from sheer terror.

Lu Shanjun and the others “drifted with the current” like ordinary mortals, continuously spinning within the immense whirlpools. They kept their demonic and evil auras suppressed, observing the magical duels unfolding beneath the water. They wondered if anyone else was as clever and fortunate as them, but they could at least be certain that ninety percent of their Apocalypse Alliance companions had instinctively chosen to ascend into the sky to evade the surging water attacks.

Above the ruined city, completely obliterated by the torrent, demonic and evil auras permeated the air. Leading them was a veiled woman in white, gazing down at the raging floodwaters below. Of the original city, only some remnants of city walls remained submerged, while the ruins of most buildings had been swept away by the flood to distant reaches.

At the former site of the city, all one could see were vast, rolling waves, as if an ocean had been artificially created. This indicated that the disaster’s scope extended far beyond just this one city. Within this created “ocean,” numerous dragon shadows glided, their potent dragon auras soaring heavenward, appearing to form an encirclement from below.

Boom… Boom…

Within the clouds above, lightning continuously pulsed. Almost simultaneously, immense thunderbolts descended from the heavens. Each bolt remarkably displayed various colors, striking the monsters in the sky one by one.

“Perish!”

A voice from the sky, resonating with immense heavenly might, drowned out the thunder above, the flood below, and the cries for help and wails of countless common people. As a terrifying demonic aura was the first to confront the heavenly lightning, the decisive clash between good and evil erupted in the sky.

“Hmph, that’s wishful thinking!”

The white-clad female demon shrieked and soared directly to meet the heavenly lightning, carrying surging demonic energy towards the cloud’s center. At that very moment, a dazzling bolt of lightning also descended from the sky’s core. Faintly discernible within the lightning was a figure, appearing to strike with a flick of their sleeve as the thunderbolt descended.

Boom——

Heaven and earth were plunged into a stark white light. Lightning rolled across the sky like a colossal tidal wave, spreading in all directions, akin to a massive celestial wave formed of thunder. The shockwave plunged towards the ground, stirring up countless tumultuous waters. Without this “ocean,” the ground would likely not only be shaken by earthquakes but also pulverized from top to bottom.

The airborne demons, all formidable, sustained no immediate harm at this moment. However, they were utterly incapable of holding their ground at the clash’s epicenter. They could only allow the force of the impact to propel them away, as resisting head-on would undoubtedly lead to severe injury.

Streaks of dragon shadows and immortal light also materialized on the periphery, engaging in combat with the demons who had been swept outwards by the force of the impact.

In the air, at a crucial strategic point, the old beggar stood alone, three zhang above the raging winds and tumultuous waves, a Celestial Binding Rope wrapped around his wrist. He squinted, observing the battle unfolding in the sky and on the water’s surface.

‘Could it be that wretch, clashing head-on with my senior brother? Hmm!?’

The old beggar, deep in thought, suddenly wide-eyed. He saw that the white-clad female demon, currently locked in combat with his senior brother, had her veil come undone, revealing a face he recognized.

‘Tu Siyan? Has this beast truly become a Nine-Tailed Fox? Impossible!’
