Chapter 1152
With One Hand, Reforming Worlds
Although Shang Shaojun was the commander of the Qingxuan Army, he had never directly engaged in combat with an immortal realm being.
During the anxious wait, he felt restless, and every day seemed like a year.
After an unknown period, the constantly swirling sword-lights around them finally ceased.
Li Fan, who had been waiting with closed eyes, finally opened his.
As the sword-lights dispersed, Shang Shaojun subconsciously looked around him.
The scene he witnessed instantly plunged him into a chilling dread, leaving his entire body cold.
The several broken worlds that Li Fan had just shattered with his sword-lights had, for some unknown reason, surprisingly reappeared!
Hanging upside down above their heads, sinister red threads intertwined, growing even thicker.
They were densely packed, continuously extending towards the Roaring Abyss.
"Not only did they not disappear, but they even..." Shang Shaojun shuddered inwardly and looked at Li Fan.
He even began to wonder if the scene of world destruction he had witnessed earlier was merely an illusion.
"He was here," Li Fan said in a deep voice.
"Who is he?" Shang Shaojun couldn't help but ask.
Li Fan shook his head.
"However, you'll know once you see."
Li Fan formed a hand seal and pointed towards the empty space ahead.
The thousands of sword-lights that had formed the sword array reappeared before them.
Then, they began to rapidly circle and spin.
As the sword-lights spun faster and faster, blurry images began to appear on the screen of light they formed!
"Whoever can do all this must be an extremely powerful entity. If we had secretly spied just now, even with my supreme formation concealing us, and even with the impact of world destruction providing natural cover..."
"...I'm afraid They still would have noticed us."
Only then did Li Fan explain why he had used the formation to shield Shang Shaojun's view earlier.
Shang Shaojun's heart tightened, but then he heard Li Fan continue: "Even when I used these sword-lights to record, the information wasn't concentrated in one place. Each sword-light only recorded a fragment of the data. Only when completely pieced together would it form the full picture of the recorded event."
"This way, we could minimize the chances of being discovered."
As Li Fan spoke softly, the images on the sword-light screen began to shift.
World fragments shattered, and world-destroying fluctuations erupted outwards, wreaking havoc.
Just as this violent scene slowly began to subside.
A figure suddenly appeared in the very center of the storm.
The scene recorded by the sword-lights did not capture the person's face.
Or perhaps, he simply hadn't revealed his true form?
Shang Shaojun only knew that the moment this mastermind appeared, the previously chaotic energy fluctuations instantly subsided.
The figure observed for a moment, seeming somewhat puzzled.
Then, it glanced towards the Roaring Abyss.
Even though it was merely a recorded image, even though the figure had no discernible face, and even though they were separated by different times and spaces.
Even so, Shang Shaojun felt as if his body, and even his soul, were on the verge of freezing when struck by that gaze.
He was stiff all over, unable to think.
Fortunately, the figure only briefly inspected the area and did not delve deeper.
It then withdrew its gaze.
Shang Shaojun felt as if he had just endured a great battle; his entire body was drained, and he was panting heavily. Yet, he remained fixated on the constantly shifting, rotating sword-light screen.
The figure pressed its hands virtually in front of it, and the storm in that space instantly ceased.
With a wave of its hand, the remaining world remnants were collected.
And then...
The figure appeared somewhat solemn as it carefully, from an unknown place, produced an equal number of world fragments!
It was like a giant from ancient myths, one who had created the heavens and the earth.
It placed these broken worlds, hanging upside down, at the bottom of the Roaring Abyss.
Then, with a gentle stroke of its finger, streaks of eerie red threads flew out from these world fragments.
As if possessing self-awareness, they flew towards the Xuanhuang Realm.
Within the Roaring Abyss, roaring sounds echoed once more.
It was a sign of two worlds merging.
After completing all this and once the inverted worlds had stabilized, the figure finally departed.
The scene abruptly ended.
Even after Li Fan retrieved the thousand sword-lights, Shang Shaojun remained immersed in the incredible scenes he had just witnessed.
"The Xuanhuang Realm actually conceals such a figure?"
"The legendary immortals who could pluck stars and seize the moon are probably no more powerful than this, right?"
Recalling the scene of that figure taking out the world fragments and gently holding them up, Shang Shaojun couldn't help but tremble slightly.
However, Li Fan's reply suddenly pulled him out of his boundless dread.
"Though this person is strong, they are still no match for a True Immortal."
His tone was calm, as if he had truly seen an immortal.
"Now it seems my guess was correct. Given the Xuanhuang Realm's strange current state, there must be someone behind it orchestrating an unknown conspiracy."
Without waiting for Shang Shaojun to reply, Li Fan continued.
"The figure we saw is one of them."
"What do you plan to do, Shaojun?"
Shang Shaojun suddenly froze.
What was there to do?
The strength of that unknown, terrifying entity must be at or even beyond the Immortal Realm.
What could he, a mere Dao Fusion cultivator, possibly do?
"I must immediately return to the Immortal Alliance headquarters and report this matter."
Shang Shaojun declared righteously.
Li Fan merely gave him a meaningful look and asked, "Are you sure?"
"If you truly insist on doing this..."
"...then I'm afraid today will be the last time we see each other," Li Fan said, his voice faint.
Shang Shaojun's expression changed. "What do you mean?" he asked.
"The Roaring Abyss clearly holds a secret. Many years ago, knowledgeable individuals within the Immortal Alliance spontaneously organized an investigation, but it was rejected by the Immortal Alliance..."
"Don't you understand, Shaojun? On the Immortal Alliance's own territory, how could such a large-scale operation possibly be hidden from them?"
Li Fan said calmly.
In truth, how could Shang Shaojun not understand this principle?
It was simply that he had always been unwilling to acknowledge this reality.
Now that Li Fan had mercilessly exposed it, Shang Shaojun's expression flickered repeatedly.
He knew very well that if the Immortal Alliance was involved in all of this, or even leading it...
...then the implications were immense.
Even though he had witnessed countless conspiracies and struggles, Shang Shaojun felt a profound sense of powerlessness at this moment.
"But Shaojun, you don't need to despair."
"This matter has clearly exceeded our ability to handle. Using the Heavenly Dao of shattered worlds to corrupt Xuanhuang is an act that makes them public enemies of the Xuanhuang Realm."
"Although some high-ranking members of the Immortal Alliance might be involved, I presume that group cannot completely control everything."
"Heavenly Venerate Chuanfa travels beyond the heavens and is unconcerned with worldly affairs. But I heard that the Chuanfa practitioners have a special method to call him back..."
Li Fan patiently guided him.
Upon hearing this, Shang Shaojun's eyes lit up. "That's right," he said. "The situation is so dire and critical, I'm afraid only by calling Chuanfa back can this be resolved. However, the only ones who can contact Heavenly Venerate..."
Shang Shaojun slightly frowned.
Meanwhile, Li Fan was recalling the scene he had just witnessed.
"Heavenly Venerate Chuanfa..."
