Chapter 33: Sisters Both Talented

Li Fan asked several baffling questions in a row, leaving Yin Yuzhen bewildered and unsure why he was asking them.

Suddenly, she seemed to consider a possibility, her face paling as she stared at Li Fan: "Could it be that you're our long-lost father?"

But she quickly dismissed the idea. "No, that's not right. You don't look like us at all."

"Just curious," Li Fan said calmly, ignoring the young girl's somewhat erratic thought process.

"I know, I know. Curiosity about people like yourself, it's only natural," Yin Yuzhen said, nodding repeatedly with an understanding expression.

Li Fan didn't bother to explain.

Yin Yuzhen sighed and slowly began, "We originally came from Nightbloom Island in the north. Our parents died in a disaster when we were young, leaving only my sister and me to depend on each other. I remember that my sister and I had to beg for food every day, barely surviving from one meal to the next."

"But at some point, my sister started finding valuable items in various places."

"Our lives gradually improved, and eventually, my sister single-handedly established the Grand Treasure Pavilion," Yin Yuzhen recalled.

"Unfortunately, I haven't seen my sister in several years," she said, her eyes filled with longing.

"Oh? Where did she go?" Li Fan frowned.

"Three years ago, my sister was noticed by a passing immortal master and taken away. At first, she would send messages through others to let us know she was safe. But later, we stopped hearing from her entirely," Yin Yuzhen said pitifully, propping her chin in her hands.

"Taken away by an immortal master? Did she go to cultivate immortality?" Li Fan couldn't help but ask.

Yin Yuzhen sighed, "If only that were the case. In a previous letter, my sister used a secret code only we understood to tell me that her situation was very dangerous. If she stopped contacting me, it would mean something bad had happened to her. She also told me not to look for her."

Hearing this, Li Fan asked, "Could it be that her unique Spirit-Attuned Physique brought about this misfortune?"

"That's what I can't figure out. While the Spirit-Attuned Physique is indeed powerful, allowing one to sense treasures within a certain range, its ability is also limited."

"My sister is just a mortal. The treasures she can sense are only valuable to other mortals. To those immortal masters, these 'treasures' might be no different from scrap metal."

"It's not as if no immortal masters had noticed my sister's talent before, but they never made a big deal out of it. I don't know why, but she was eventually taken by that particular immortal master," Yin Yuzhen sighed again, a hint of sadness in her eyes.

"Though my sister's fate is likely grim, the foundation she built remains. The Grand Treasure Pavilion, which she worked tirelessly for half her life to establish, cannot be destroyed by me," Yin Yuzhen said, her large eyes fixed on Li Fan.

"That's also why I sought you out today."

Li Fan raised an eyebrow but remained silent.

Yin Yuzhen explained without prompting, "I don't have my sister's miraculous abilities. After she disappeared, the Grand Treasure Pavilion's business declined day by day. On top of that, I misjudged several items, failing to recognize them as fakes, which led to another significant loss."

"The elders gradually grew dissatisfied with me. They even want to collude with outsiders to oust me and divide the Grand Treasure Pavilion's assets."

"Fortunately, they still have reservations about my sister, who was taken by an immortal master, which is why they haven't acted yet."

"So, I came from Nightbloom Island to Glass Island, using 'market expansion' as an excuse, to weather the storm for now."

"I originally planned to develop here for a few years, gather some strength, and then go back to settle scores with them. But I never expected to encounter another Spirit-Attuned Physique on Glass Island."

Yin Yuzhen became quite excited. "With your help, I can definitely regain control of the Grand Treasure Pavilion!"

"Why should I help you?" Li Fan remained unmoved. "I'm not interested in the affairs of your Grand Treasure Pavilion. My only desire is to cultivate immortality."

"You previously promised that if I helped you secure the fleet, you would help me obtain a spot in the Pure Spirit Pool. You haven't gone back on your word, have you?"

Yin Yuzhen seemed to have anticipated Li Fan's answer. She nodded, "Our Grand Treasure Pavilion always prioritizes integrity in business. We will certainly fulfill our promise to you. However..."

She paused, looking at Li Fan with a sly glint in her eyes.

"But what?" Li Fan's expression darkened.

Yin Yuzhen chuckled softly, "Even if you can enter the Pure Spirit Pool, Uncle, what then? Removing the miasma from your body isn't easy. Nearly half of those who enter the spirit pool each year fail. And the older you are, the higher the chance of failure."

"You're not young anymore, Uncle, do you have a hundred percent certainty of success? Everyone only gets one chance to enter the spirit pool in their lifetime. If you fail, you might have to bid farewell to immortal cultivation forever."

"I know that the Pure Spirit Pool doesn't guarantee success. A fifty percent success rate is enough for me to try. However, from what you're implying..." Li Fan looked at Yin Yuzhen, his eyes narrowing slightly.

"Exactly." Yin Yuzhen's face showed a triumphant expression, as if she knew Li Fan would take the bait. "Along with my sister's last letter, there was a pill called the Dust-Separating Pill."

"According to my sister's letter, taking this pill significantly increases the success rate of removing miasma from the body. If combined with the Pure Spirit Pool, even at your age, Uncle, there's a very high chance of success."

"If such a miraculous pill exists, why haven't you taken it?" Li Fan couldn't help but ask.

"Uncle, not everyone is as determined to cultivate immortality as you are. My wish is to run a good business and protect the Grand Treasure Pavilion that my sister left behind," Yin Yuzhen replied.

"To each their own ambition..." Li Fan nodded slowly.

"So, Uncle, does that mean you agree?" Yin Yuzhen looked at Li Fan with anticipation.

"Allow me to go back and consider it. I'll give you my answer in three days," Li Fan mused for a moment, not agreeing immediately.

"Alright then, Uncle, I'll wait for your news," Yin Yuzhen said, nodding despite her slight disappointment.

"Farewell!"

"I hope I haven't misjudged this time."

Yin Yuzhen watched Li Fan's retreating figure, her expression turning serious as she murmured.

When interacting with Li Fan, Yin Yuzhen had always played the role of a "junior" or "young girl."

Her intuition told her that Li Fan didn't dislike her doing so.

Furthermore, approaching Li Fan as a junior made things more likely to succeed.

Yin Yuzhen didn't possess her elder sister's innate ability to sense treasures.

However, she had her own unique quality.

No one knew, except for her sister Yin Yueting, that Yin Yuzhen had been able to vaguely sense the auspiciousness or misfortune of events since childhood.

It was precisely by relying on her sister's Spirit-Attuned Physique and her own ability to seek good fortune and avoid disaster that the sisters were able to grow up smoothly.
