"It's good that you're sensible. Honestly, if you hadn't carried out the mission and Xinghai and the others were captured because of it, I would have eliminated you, even if you were the reincarnation of Dao Ancestor Fuyue," Wang Changsheng said in a deep voice.
Wang Lingyin could have remained uninvolved, allowing Wang Yixin to send other Grand Unity Golden Immortals to search for the treasure. Any complications would then have been irrelevant to her. Instead, Wang Lingyin actively participated, strongly advised Wang Xinghai and the two others against treasure hunting, and reported the matter to Wang Yixin. This demonstrates that she genuinely considers Wang Xinghai and the others as family, rather than prioritizing her identity as Dao Ancestor Fuyue.
"This isn't about being sensible," Wang Lingyin said earnestly. "I grew up on Qinglian Mountain, and I am a member of the Wang family. The elders have always treated me very well. Why would I want to leave the Wang family?"
"So, all the hidden measures you left behind were discovered? You didn't tell anyone else?" Ye Haitang asked curiously.
"If they hadn't been discovered, I would have retrieved them long ago and used those resources to advance to the Dao Ancestor realm. My cultivation speed wouldn't have been so slow. Of course, I wouldn't have told anyone else," Wang Lingyin replied.
"Do you know the whereabouts of other powerful individuals or forces from the Chaos Era?" Wang Changsheng inquired.
"I know of three locations, but so many years have passed that I'm not sure if they're still there," Wang Lingyin stated. "One is the Golden Silkworm Sea Region in the Myriad Gu Immortal Realm, where the main headquarters of the Heavenly Craft Immortal Palace is hidden. Another is the Golden Flute Sea Region in the Myriad Sound Immortal Realm, where Dao Ancestor Miaoyin resides. And finally, there's the Heavenly Void Sea Region in the Grand Void Immortal Realm, where Jin Xuzi can be found. You could send people to try your luck at these places."
"Heavenly Craft Immortal Palace! Dao Ancestor Miaoyin! Jin Xuzi!" Wang Changsheng continued, "Do you know any other secrets besides these?"
Wang Lingyin produced three jade slips, each of a different color, and presented them to Wang Changsheng with both hands. "These contain the memories I inherited," she explained. "Everything I know is recorded on them. I don't have any further information."
Wang Changsheng and the others took turns examining the three jade slips, acquiring a significant amount of information.
"Since you consider yourself a member of the Wang family, then stay with us!" Wang Changsheng declared. "We don't care if you are a member of the Wang family or Dao Ancestor Fuyue; as long as you don't act against our family's interests, there will be no issue. You will continue to be a priority for our family's cultivation."
With mid-grade Dao artifacts in hand, Qingbai and the others would also become stronger.
"Alright then, I'll trouble you all," Wang Changsheng continued. "I'll go refine mid-grade Dao artifacts and send people to visit the three places Lingyin mentioned. We'll see if we can establish contact with other Dao Ancestors or major powers, perhaps exchanging intelligence or immortal cultivation resources."
After a brief chat, they dispersed to attend to their respective tasks.
Wang Changsheng entered a secret chamber, summoned the Green Lotus Creation Cauldron, retrieved his refining materials, and began the process of forging mid-grade Dao artifacts. A low-grade Dao artifact required hundreds of fifth-tier immortal materials, while a mid-grade one demanded over a thousand. For a high-grade Dao artifact, several thousand fifth-tier immortal materials were necessary.
Elsewhere in the Immortal Realm, an immense, boundless desert stretched out, where fierce winds constantly whipped up countless yellow sand particles. A yellow streak of light flew from the distance, then shimmered and halted. As the light receded, it revealed a graceful woman in a yellow dress.
The woman in the yellow dress produced a circular, yellow-glowing token. She infused it with immortal power, and a beam of yellow light shot from it, striking a spot in the void. The void rippled, and a massive portal instantly appeared, from which an immensely abundant surge of immortal qi gushed forth.
The woman in the yellow dress flew through the portal. Before her lay a massive island, where ancient trees pierced the sky and myriad rays of auspicious light shimmered. The figures of numerous immortals were visible.
The woman in the yellow dress descended before the entrance of a magnificent, golden hall. The plaque above the closed doors read "Tian Gong Hall."
"Disciple Huang Yao has an urgent matter to report," the woman in the yellow dress announced.
"Come in and speak!" a majestic male voice commanded. No sooner had the words faded than the main doors swung open automatically, and Huang Yao stepped inside.
A burly young man in a golden robe occupied the main seat, his aura as boundless as the ocean.
"Niece Huang, what urgent matter brings you here?" the golden-robed youth inquired.
"Dao Ancestor Qihong acted, eliminating a slumbering Chaos Beast, Xiao, and a Witch Clan Dao Ancestor," Huang Yao reported.
"Dao Ancestor Qihong!" the golden-robed youth exclaimed, a hint of doubt in his voice. "When did he acquire such immense power? Could he have perhaps comprehended six fundamental laws? Or does he possess a high-grade Dao artifact?"
"I'm not sure; he didn't say," Huang Yao replied. "Dao Ancestor Qihong appeared in several immortal realms, displaying the corpse of a ten-colored Chaos Beast, and incidentally purged some pseudo-immortals."
"It seems he has allies," the golden-robed youth mused, "though I don't know if they are Daoist Zhou's disciples." This was Du Xin, the Deputy Palace Master of the Heavenly Craft Immortal Palace, a Dao Ancestor at the mid-stage.
"Should we dispatch someone to contact Dao Ancestor Qihong?" Huang Yao requested guidance.
"No need," Du Xin replied. "So many years have passed; who knows if he has defected to the Chaos Beasts? They've certainly done such things before: supporting pseudo-Dao Ancestors to eliminate other Chaos Beasts, and luring powerful cultivators to their deaths. Have you managed to locate the Multi-Eyed Tribe?"
"No, we haven't," Huang Yao responded. "We don't know where they've hidden, or if they might have already been annihilated by the Chaos Beasts."
Du Xin pondered for a moment. "Never mind," he said. "Send more people to search for the hidden legacy of the Ancient Immortal Court. If we can acquire its treasures, we'll be able to cultivate even more Dao Ancestors."
"Yes, Senior Uncle Du," Huang Yao affirmed.
Du Xin gave a few final instructions before dismissing Huang Yao.
