Chapter 4836

Upon flying into the nine-colored light cave, Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan found themselves above a vast, boundless emerald green mountain range, where the immortal energy was exceptionally abundant.

Activating their divine senses, Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan detected a powerful ripple of restrictions. Wang Ruyan activated her Li Fire True Eyes to investigate the area, and they continued flying forward.

As they proceeded, they encountered numerous restrictions. While they managed to avoid most of them, some were unavoidable due to their sheer number. Fortunately, with their abundance of high-grade Dao artifacts and having cultivated eight fundamental laws, these restrictions had little impact on them.

Less than half a month later, Wang Changsheng and Wang Ruyan arrived at the base of a towering, steep peak. There, they found a cyan stone tablet over a hundred zhang tall, bearing the three golden characters "Xuanyuan Peak."

A cyan stone staircase led upwards.

"According to Daoist Zhou, this should be the forbidden ground of the Ancient Immortal Court, and also Daoist Xuanyuan's residence," Wang Changsheng remarked. They had previously inquired about the Ancient Immortal Court ruins with Zhou Dian, who had provided them with accurate information. Xuanyuan Jie resided on Xuanyuan Peak, which served as a forbidden area of the Ancient Immortal Court, accessible only to a select few elders.

Wang Changsheng deployed a fourth-tier immortal puppet. With a flick of his wrist, the puppet began to ascend the mountain. Its pace was not swift, and before it had gone far, numerous fine golden threads emerged from the ground. The puppet's body, like tofu, was instantly sliced into fragments by the dense golden threads.

Wang Changsheng frowned, then conjured five shimmering silver orbs. With a hand seal, these proved to be the high-grade Dao artifacts known as Primordial Magnetic Beads. The five Primordial Magnetic Beads radiated dazzling silver light, forming a robust silver barrier. Wang Ruyan then produced a Grand Unity Golden Immortal-tier talisman soldier. The silver barrier enveloped the talisman soldier, which then began to move up the mountain. The golden threads, as if meeting their bane, vanished instantly upon contact with the silver barrier, clearing a path. Observing this, the talisman soldier returned to its original position.

"My dear, you stay here. I'll go scout ahead!" Wang Changsheng instructed. With a swift hand seal, he enveloped himself in the silver barrier and proceeded up the mountain, finding his path completely unobstructed.

Upon reaching the summit, Wang Changsheng beheld a magnificent, gleaming golden palace. The words "Xuanyuan Hall" were inscribed in large characters on its plaque, and its main doors were tightly shut. Wang Changsheng unleashed a punch, and a massive cyan fist shot out, striking the doors of Xuanyuan Hall. The doors, however, remained completely unyielding.

Wang Changsheng strode forward. The moment he reached the entrance of Xuanyuan Hall, countless arcane runes surged from the ground, transforming into thick chains that bound his feet. The palace doors then opened automatically, and a golden, shimmering greatsword flew out, instantly appearing before Wang Changsheng. Wang Changsheng flicked his sleeve, sending eighteen Sea-Settling Beads forth to meet the attack. The golden greatsword collided with one of the Sea-Settling Beads, producing a dull thud. The bead then emitted a blinding blue light, and the golden greatsword visibly dissolved into it.

As the palace doors attempted to close, Wang Changsheng quickly formed a hand seal. One of the Sea-Settling Beads rapidly expanded in size and slammed into the doors, shattering them into pieces. Wang Changsheng then dispatched a fourth-tier immortal puppet to enter Xuanyuan Hall. The fourth-tier immortal puppet circled the interior of Xuanyuan Hall, finding nothing unusual.

Only then did Wang Changsheng confidently enter. He noticed a bluestone corridor to his left. He guided the fourth-tier immortal puppet into it, following closely behind. After several dozen steps, he reached the end, where four stone chambers with tightly closed doors came into view.

He punched open the door of the first stone chamber. Inside, he found a colossal magic array with eighteen large indentations, each containing a massive piece of Immortal Gathering Jade. Wang Changsheng collected the Immortal Gathering Jades, and the restrictions on Xuanyuan Peak immediately ceased to function. He opened the door of the second stone chamber, revealing nothing but a single cyan futon inside. Wang Changsheng opened the door of the third stone chamber. Inside, he discovered a Blood Orb Fruit tree laden with dozens of Blood Orb Fruits. He released Wang Shen, instructing her to pick the Blood Orb Fruits. Working with Wang Shen, he then transplanted the entire Blood Orb Fruit tree.

He opened the door to the fourth stone chamber. A hundred-zhang-wide room appeared before him. On the left wall, there was a mural depicting a handsome young man, accompanied by a line of text. Below the mural, a cyan offering table held three golden storage bracelets.

"Are you a contingency left by Xuanyuan Jie?" Wang Changsheng inquired.

The sculpted image of the young man glowed brightly, coming to life as a mere soul fragment.

"A remnant soul!" Wang Changsheng realized with understanding. Having cultivated the Soul Origin Law, he could not be deceived by remnant souls.

"More or less! It's fortunate an immortal found this place. You're not a pseudo-immortal, are you?" Xuanyuan Jie asked.

"Certainly not. We've already slain the Primordial Chaos Beast Ancestor," Wang Changsheng replied.

"What? Slain by you? Have you cultivated ten fundamental laws?" Xuanyuan Jie questioned, bewildered.

"Ten aren't necessary; eight were enough to kill it," Wang Changsheng said, activating the power of his fundamental laws.

"The Soul Origin Law! The Karma Origin Law! No wonder," Xuanyuan Jie suddenly understood.

"You've made immense contributions to the Immortal Realm. Do you have any unfulfilled wishes? I will do my best to help you achieve them. I possess a Dao artifact capable of housing remnant souls." Wang Changsheng said, revealing a golden jade bottle in his right hand. He held Xuanyuan Jie in high esteem, knowing that without him, the immortals would not have been able to contend with the chaos beasts for such an extended period.

"Your intention is enough," Xuanyuan Jie replied. "I am merely a wisp of a split soul and won't survive much longer. Take the cultivation resources in the storage bracelets; they should be enough for you to cultivate a ninth fundamental law. The tenth, however, will be much harder. Feel free to ask anything you wish."

"Are you from the Immortal Realm? What are the conditions for advancing to the Grand Dao stage?" Wang Changsheng inquired.

"I hail from the Chaos Realm," Xuanyuan Jie explained. "Strictly speaking, the Immortal Realm and the Chaos Realm together constitute a single, complete world. The Immortal Realm you inhabit is merely a small section of it. Due to the presence of the Sea of Returning to the Void, the inhabitants of the Chaos Realm have not discovered your realm."

"The Sea of Returning to the Void? Do you mean the Sea of Chaos? Immortal Mo Yin-yin mentioned it to me," Wang Changsheng clarified, puzzled.

"Yes, it's the same place," Xuanyuan Jie slowly affirmed. "To advance to the Grand Dao stage, you must first forge a Dao foundation; that's the absolute prerequisite. Secondly, you'll need a Grand Dao Seed, also known as a World Seed. There's one here in the ruins; it wasn't fully formed before, so I contained it. After all these years, it should have matured, and I'll bestow it upon you. As for whether you can truly ascend to the Grand Dao stage, that will depend entirely on your own capabilities."

"What exactly is Primordial Dao Stone, and is it common in the Chaos Realm?" Wang Changsheng continued to ask.

"Primordial Dao Stone is a very unique material," Xuanyuan Jie patiently explained. "Let me put it this way: the Primordial Chaos Beast Ancestor—though it's more accurately a commander of the Chaos race, not truly an ancestor—and I went treasure hunting in the Land of Returning to the Void. There, we accidentally found a piece of Primordial Dao Stone, which we each took half of and integrated into our respective natal Dao artifacts. Afterwards, it pursued me. I fled into the Sea of Returning to the Void, also known as the Sea of Chaos, and unexpectedly arrived in the Immortal Realm. You know the events that followed: I led the Dao Ancestors of the Immortal Realm in confronting it."
