Chapter 4880: Refuge

Wang Qingcheng’s tone was cold.

The red-robed elder repeatedly affirmed, his eyes darting around.

“It seems Daoist Taihao killed Xing Shen, obtained the Dao Enlightenment Stone, and crafted the Enlightenment Tablet.”

Du Yan and others also had this conjecture. Considering the timeline, it made sense. They had all consumed Dao Enlightenment Pills and Dao Enlightenment Wine without comprehending a Supreme Grand Dao. Hundreds of millions of years ago, Wang Changsheng only commanded two Supreme Grand Daos when he eliminated Yan Ming and Yuan Yu. Now he commanded four, so the Wang family must possess an Enlightenment Tablet. The Chaotic Realm was home to countless races and hundreds of thousands of immortal realms; very few forces possessed an Enlightenment Tablet. The Wang family having one already surpassed many other forces.

In less than half an hour, the surging yin energy gradually dispersed, revealing Wang Changsheng and his group. They were unharmed; the invading enemies like Rong Xin were gone, all having been eliminated.

“Alliance Leader’s divine power is truly admirable, I am utterly impressed,” the red-robed elder flattered.

This was understandable. Zhuge Sheng, widely acknowledged as the strongest Daoist of the human race, only commanded three Supreme Grand Daos. It was truly astonishing that Daoist Taihao commanded four.

“Just stay here. Don’t do anything that might lead to misunderstandings,” Ye Haitang said, her tone cold.

The attitudes and reactions of Du Yan and the others had not escaped the notice of the Wang family’s Daoists. At critical moments, these individuals were utterly unreliable; to put it plainly, they would side with whoever was winning.

“Fellow Daoist Wang, I had no other intention just now. Please don’t misunderstand,” the red-robed elder said with a fawning smile. He thought to himself, “Had I known Daoist Taihao commanded four Supreme Grand Daos earlier, I wouldn’t have spoken that way. But then again, who could have expected the Green Lotus Immortal Couple to command four Supreme Grand Daos? The Wang family hadn’t disclosed it, and all the Daoists who fought them had been killed.”

“We should go help too!” Du Yan said.

“There’s no need. Madam Du, you can just stay here. My uncle and aunt are capable of dealing with these individuals,” a member of the Wang family responded.

“Fellow Daoist Wang, I know a Daoist from the Divine race. Should I contact him and ask him to mediate?” Du Yan asked.

Wang Changsheng smiled calmly and said, “Madam Du, you are a high-ranking member of the Asura race. Two leaders of affiliated races were killed while carrying out orders. Will you let this matter rest?”

At this point, mediation was futile. Wang Changsheng would not be so foolish as to entrust his life to others. The Divine race and the Asura race were already at odds. If the Divine race intervened to protect the Wang family, would the Asura race simply pretend nothing happened? Without good reason, the Divine race wouldn’t protect them either. The most crucial point was that Wang Changsheng now commanded four Supreme Grand Daos, and this fact could no longer be kept secret.

When Wang Changsheng first arrived in the Chaotic Realm, he was only at the early Daoist Venerable stage. Over two billion years later, he commanded four Supreme Grand Daos. No one would believe he achieved this solely through comprehension; people would undoubtedly suspect the Wang family possessed an Enlightenment Tablet. Wang Changsheng had considered that even if the Divine race was willing to offer full protection, the Enlightenment Tablet certainly couldn’t be kept, and he would never hand it over.

“Of course not. You all need to be very careful!” Du Yan said.

“We have our plans. You can all go back and do what you need to do,” Wang Changsheng said.

Xu Buling and the others took their leave one after another, departing the area.

Wang Changsheng and his group returned to Green Lotus Peak to discuss the aftermath.

“We can no longer stay in the Chaotic Realm. I plan to return to the Immortal Realm. Some clansmen will remain in the Chaotic Realm to gather intelligence and resources, and we’ll periodically send people to the Chaotic Realm to receive cultivation resources,” Wang Changsheng said.

“Father, let me stay!” Wang Qingfeng volunteered.

“I’ll stay too!” Wang Qingshan said.

“Staying here is very dangerous. If the Asura race discovers you, it will be trouble,” Wang Ruyan warned.

“We’ll just change our appearances and find a place to hide. Will the Asura race search house by house?” Wang Qingfeng said nonchalantly.

The Chaotic Realm was vast; it was too easy for a Daoist Venerable to hide, and incredibly difficult to find one.

“For caution’s sake, it’s better for you to seek refuge in the Divine race’s territory. Once the dust settles, it won’t be too late to go to other immortal realms. Your safety is paramount; collecting resources comes second,” Wang Changsheng said.

After an hour of discussion, Wang Changsheng finalized his plan: fifteen Daoists and a hundred clansmen would stay behind, spread across various immortal realms to gather resources and intelligence. Wang Changsheng would lead the main force back to the Immortal Realm for refuge and secluded cultivation.

“I’m leaving this place in your hands. We will visit once every five hundred million years. Please be very careful,” Wang Changsheng instructed.

“Ninth Uncle, you all take care,” Wang Qingshan said.

Wang Changsheng gave a few more instructions, then let Wang Qingshan, Wang Qingfeng, Wang Qingling, and the others depart.

The Green Lotus Immortal Island glowed with dazzling green light and flew rapidly towards the Sea of Returning Ruins.

In the Asura Hall, Abisra sat on the main seat, his gaze somber. A black-robed man of medium build was reporting to him.

“What? Their Soul Lamps are all extinguished? They’ve all been killed?” Abisra said, somewhat incredulously. Rong Xin and Chi Yan both possessed complete sets of Heavenly Dao Artifacts and commanded three Supreme Grand Daos. Yet, they weren’t a match?

“Absolutely true. According to the latest intelligence, Daoist Taihao commands four Supreme Grand Daos. Xing Shen must have been killed by Daoist Taihao, who then obtained the Enlightenment Stone and crafted the Enlightenment Tablet, allowing him to comprehend four Supreme Grand Daos,” the black-robed man said.

“Four Supreme Grand Daos? When did the human race produce such a formidable figure?” A slightly disdainful male voice rang out.

As soon as the words fell, a tall, blood-robed man strode in, his aura as vast as the sea. This was Mandala Bone, a Daoist Venerable in the late stage, who commanded five Supreme Grand Daos.

“Fellow Daoist Man, you’ve emerged from seclusion!” Abisra was filled with both surprise and joy.

“What were you just discussing?” Mandala Bone asked casually.

The black-robed man dared not delay and explained in detail.

“I’ll lead a team there myself! I want to see what the Wang family is capable of,” Mandala Bone said gravely.

“That would be excellent, but the Wang family might retreat to the Immortal Realm or go into hiding,” Abisra said.

“It doesn’t matter. If I can’t find Green Lotus Immortal Island, I’ll lead my forces to the Immortal Realm. As long as the Immortal Realm is truly within the Sea of Returning Ruins, it will be perfect for using its inhabitants to refine my Natal Heavenly Dao Artifact.” Mandala Bone’s face was filled with murderous intent.

“That’s for the best, but proceed with caution. The Sea of Returning Ruins is no ordinary place; even Daoist Venerables who command Supreme Grand Daos can die there,” Abisra warned.

“Don’t worry! I know what I’m doing,” Mandala Bone agreed and turned to leave.
