Chapter 4906: Magic Clan Su Tianya

Only resources that can open new spiritual apertures would justify such a risky move by the Meng family. Without a compelling reason, there was no logical motive for them to dispatch assassins against the Wang family's merchant ships.

Cui Yao nodded and agreed. “We’ll handle this,” she said.

Waiting for Wang Changsheng's approval before making a decision would make her seem incompetent, as if she needed to consult him on everything. If they waited for his return, the enemy's injuries might heal, making it difficult for Cui Yao to use her curse to kill him. This was an opportunity not to be missed.

Cui Yao agreed. “We can start by looking into the Nine-Glazed Immortal Fruit. Before the incident, Meng Zisen contacted Ruixue, offering a high price for it. If the Meng family is indeed behind this, the Nine-Glazed Immortal Fruit must be incredibly important to them, likely related to opening a fourth or fifth spiritual aperture.”

With Wang Changsheng absent, Wang Yongqian had many ways to handle this situation. “Nothing major, but have there been any updates on Cangli Island?” Wang Yongqian asked.

“Not yet. All major powers are covertly searching for Cangli Island, and we don’t want to draw undue attention, which makes investigations much more complicated,” Wang Chuanming replied.

“Work harder, but prioritize safety. Oh, and there’s something I need to tell you.” Wang Yongqian then recounted the attack on the family's merchant fleet. “I’m just giving you a heads-up that someone might be targeting our family. Be careful in your dealings; don’t get tracked or ambushed. I’ve already sent Cui Yao to investigate this person’s background.”

“Understood. We’ll be extra careful,” Wang Chuanming assured her.

Putting away the immortal transmission mirror, Wang Yongqian took out a pale golden magical disc and imbued it with a spell. Wang Changluo’s voice sounded, “Patriarch, another cultivator has ascended from the lower realm. However, this one is special: he’s from the Demon Race.”

There were also members of the Demon Race in the Heavenly Morning Sea, though their numbers were small; Human cultivators still made up the vast majority.

“Bring him to my residence. I’d like to meet him,” Wang Yongqian instructed.

“Yes, Patriarch,” Wang Changluo replied.

Soon after, Wang Changluo entered with a burly, black-robed elder. The elder had golden demon markings on his body, his aura was weak, and many scars were visible.

“This old man is Su Tianya. Greetings, Immortal Wang,” the black-robed elder said, cupping his fists.

Wang Yongqian inquired about his origins. He was from the Yin Demon Realm, where he had sought treasure and stumbled into a dangerous area. After years of arduous cultivation, he reached the late Mahayana stage, successfully endured the Ninety-Nine Heavenly Tribulation, and ascended to the Immortal Realm, landing on the Wang family’s Ascension Platform.

“Are you willing to join our Wang family?” Wang Yongqian asked.

“I am,” Su Tianya readily agreed, as joining the Wang family offered many benefits, and he no longer wished to wander.

“Changluo, take him to rest first. I’ll send someone to verify his identity before making a decision,” Wang Yongqian instructed.

Wang Changluo agreed and led Su Tianya away.

“It seems we’ll have another guest elder at the True Immortal stage, and surprisingly, he’s from the Demon Race,” Wang Yongqian murmured to herself. Ye Haitang was also from the Demon Race, skilled in ghost manipulation and formations. Wang Yongqian then entered a secret chamber, sat cross-legged on a golden meditation cushion, and began cultivating.

---

Profound Flame Island, the ancestral land of the Meng family.

On Profound Flame Peak, at the summit, lay a vast red estate with pavilions, terraces, and long covered walkways over water. Meng Tianfeng and a graceful young woman in a green dress were sitting in a red stone pavilion, conversing.

“Ancestor Tianfeng, here are five Nine-Glazed Immortal Fruits. I had my senior brother bring them back from Nine Immortals City,” the green-clad girl said, taking out a golden storage bracelet and handing it to Meng Tianfeng.

Meng Tianfeng took the golden storage bracelet and nodded with satisfaction. He seemed about to speak but hesitated, as if harboring a secret.

“Ancestor Tianfeng, please speak freely. We are family,” the green-clad girl said.

“Yudie, I originally shouldn't have told you about this, and I don't even know where to begin,” Meng Tianfeng sighed. He then briefly recounted the incident, though he embellished it, portraying the Wang family as aggressive and stating that the Meng family could not tolerate such provocation, which led them to attack the Wang family’s merchant fleet.

Meng Yudie frowned, her willow-like eyebrows furrowed. She knew, of course, that Meng Tianfeng had exaggerated the facts, but she chose not to dispute it. She believed in supporting her family, not necessarily in upholding justice; without the family's cultivation, she wouldn't be where she was today. Even if the Meng family coveted the Nine-Glazed Immortal Fruit and resorted to murder and theft, she could only side with them.

“The Wang family's influence has indeed grown, but their contributions are undeniable, and they haven't committed any major errors. It won’t be easy to cause trouble for them,” Meng Yudie said with a frown.

“I know it's not easy. If it can't be done, then so be it. What we did was discreet, so the Wang family shouldn't know it was us. It won't be too late to deal with the Wang family once you reach the Golden Immortal stage. It's just a pity about Tianting; he did so much for the family. Your spirit beast was able to cultivate into a true spirit all thanks to the Nine-Revolving Glazed Pill he seized,” Meng Tianfeng said slowly.

Meng Yudie’s eyebrows furrowed in thought for a moment before she said, “I know Ancestor Tianting was very good to me, but haste makes waste. There’s no immediate opportunity to deal with the Wang family. In a while, I’ll be going to the Chaos Continent. I’ll find a way to weaken the Wang family’s power and help the family acquire Wuyang City if possible. At the very least, we cannot allow the Wang family to continue controlling Haoyang City. They killed our kin, and we must settle this score with them.”

“The Chaos Continent is very dangerous. Proceed according to your capabilities; don’t overexert yourself. You are the future of our family,” Meng Tianfeng cautioned.

Meng Yudie nodded and agreed.

Wang Rumeng and the other two agreed, naturally understanding they shouldn't spread the word. Wang Yongqian gave them a few more instructions before dismissing them.

She took out a golden immortal transmission mirror, imbued it with a spell, and Wang Chuanming’s face appeared on its surface.

Wang Yulan asked curiously. It was her first time witnessing Cui Yao use a curse to kill a True Immortal cultivator. “That was a different type of curse, more troublesome against someone at their peak. Some advanced curses require the caster’s divine soul as a medium; such curses are more potent and can directly eradicate the target’s divine soul. However, they require a very high cultivation level to cast, effectively costing a thousand to kill an enemy while harming oneself by eight hundred,” Cui Yao explained.

“You've performed a great service this time, but this matter must not be publicized. Keep it strictly to yourselves,” Wang Yongqian instructed.

“I didn’t expect Cui Yao’s cursing technique to be so powerful. Didn’t we hear that it required powerful living beings as mediums, like spirit beasts?” Wang Rumeng added.

“Patriarch, did you need something?” Wang Chuanming asked.

Du Tianting had been killed, and her task was to uncover the true mastermind. Without conclusive evidence, they couldn't directly blame the Meng family. If the enemy dared to target the Wang family, Wang Yongqian would retaliate.

“Chuanming and Mengshan have important matters to handle. You and Wu Yan are responsible for investigating Du Tianting’s true background. Du Tianting is dead, but he was active in the territory of the Nine Immortals Sect and must have interacted with many cultivators. Perhaps you can uncover some clues there.”

As the saying goes, “Catch a thief with the stolen goods, catch adulterers in the act.” They needed conclusive evidence before proceeding with further actions, or they might unknowingly be exploited.
