Spore Evolution.

What is referred to as 'spores' describes the most primitive life structures, so this phrase essentially means 'life evolution'.

Will the future state of the universe be characterized by life evolution?

Zhi Ji chuckled, finding it unlikely.

Many beings speculate about the future, but who can truly predict it? Still, it's worth listening. While it's impossible to predict something from nothing, there are already signs emerging. The era's prodigies, born with propitious fates, might just be able to discern the future trends.

She asked curiously, "I don't quite understand. Why would the future of the universe be described as 'spore evolution'?"

"Have you observed the history of life's evolution on planets?" asked Emperor.

"Of course," Zhi Ji replied with a gentle smile. "Life first originated and evolved in the oceans." She possessed a unique aura, a deadly allure. How could she not have seen it? She had witnessed the most ancient eras. She had even encountered the most ancient Primordial Saint who established parallel universes, witnessing the birth of an era. Living during the 'Cosmic Bridge' period over ten billion years ago, she was an ancient being most familiar with this history.

"So, since you understand the laws of life, and that life originated in the ocean, what about the process of life's evolution?" Emperor inquired further.

Zhi Ji smiled, then proudly declared, "In the Nine-Origin Universes, while customs and environments appear diverse, and planets teem with various life forms, there seems to be an unseen, fated pattern. Across these nine parallel universes, over 99% of life is carbon-based. And carbon-based organic life almost invariably originates in the oceans, initially existing as plankton, algae, and simple organisms. Subsequently, amphibious creatures emerge, transitioning between water and land, followed by terrestrial species. This process unfolds over countless eons of life!"

What she described was perfectly normal. Just like Earth, with its Triassic and Jurassic periods... each era saw the evolution of dominant creatures, standing at the top of the food chain, only to be gradually replaced by more powerful species.

"Precisely," Emperor affirmed. "The biological evolution of the universe follows a certain inevitability."

At this point, a nearby Saint quickly added, "That's right! Although the nine universes seem incredibly distant, an unseen rule appears to dictate their similar life structures! Even ancient multidimensional Saints, through archaeological expeditions aboard the Beige-class vessel, embarked on a 50-million-year voyage. After extensive observations and collections of flora, fauna, and geological data across the nine multiverses, they astonishingly discovered that... these nine multiverses might have once been a single, unified expanse in the distant past!"

The Great Universe! The initial unified era of the Great Universe!

Upon hearing this, the Saintly descendants nearby were dumbfounded. Normally, they would never have been privy to such secrets, but in their desire to display their erudition, these Saints no longer bothered to keep them hidden.

"So that's it. Was the universe perhaps a single entity many years ago?"

Emperor looked up at the sky above the deck, his gaze filled with yearning, like a pilgrim. "It's hard to imagine the mythological grandeur of the universe in the distant past. As I traverse the cosmic lands, I yearn to witness the mythical flourishing that stood upon this universe billions of years ago. I wish to share drinks and sing with the Primordial Saints of that era—that would surely be the most captivating scene."

As Emperor finished speaking, the surrounding Saints expressed their agreement.

"Speaking with ancient beings? Aren't you speaking with me right now?" Zhi Ji sighed inwardly, shaking her head. In her eyes, these mortals of the current era were merely laughable ants in a well, limited by their times.

However, the person before her was indeed devout. Such pure seekers of the Dao often possess unique insights in their era.

Zhi Ji looked at Emperor, her earlier indifference and teasing replaced by a look of appreciation. She softened her tone, saying, "I understand what you mean now. Spore evolution—are you suggesting that these present universes follow an inevitable pattern, just like the evolution of life? Is it possible for them to manifest various life forms?"

Even she found it incredible.

Emperor looked into the distance and said, "You naturally find it hard to imagine the scene I'm describing: universes everywhere, like living organisms, resembling flowers, grass, insects, and fish, spread across the lands of the Chaos Heaven, evolving freely and forming food chain hierarchies... In the future, we Saints, parasitic within the cosmic bodies, will be like probiotics within living organisms, allowing these flowers, grass, insects, and fish to continually grow!"

As these words fell, a vast, unprecedented vision violently appeared before all the Saints. Beyond the Chaos Heaven, it would no longer be a desolate and lonely void, or an endless, vast wasteland. Instead, it would be a vibrant new world, teeming with lush flora, fauna, and creatures. Valleys, deep forests, basins, rivers, plants, and all sorts of vibrant flora and fauna would, in reality, be terrifying universes! And they, within these 129,000 universes, would become internal probiotics, parasitic within the bodies of these colossal cosmic beings...

"This is impossible!"

"This is absolutely impossible!"

"If what you say is true, then the future Chaos Heaven will be a world of 'giants', and we will be mere probiotics, or even commensal bacteria, parasitic within these 'giants'!"

These words were too horrifying, truly chilling to hear. The Saints disbelieved him, but his words indeed made Zhi Ji fall into deep thought. There was a certain possibility in them, aligning with the laws of cosmic order.

"Cosmic life is not impossible. Self-awareness, you see, is a prerequisite for highly evolved life... The universe is inanimate, yet what is before us is alive. It's not impossible for a cosmic consciousness to evolve in the future."

Zhi Ji grasped something. "And the essence of life's evolution is to alter genetic sequences. So, the genetic sequence of this life... would be the Daoist Map of the Universe!" A belief stirred within Zhi Ji, and her pupils slowly dilated. "Could it be that the universe truly is entering an evolutionary era, just like a living organism?"

Previously, she had listened to 'Autumn Mountain Speed's' absurd prophecies, which, despite being wildly exaggerated, held no practical meaning. She had only recently emerged to conduct investigations, and only now was she reacting to this. This was indeed a terrifying trend. Though she hadn't seen the full outline or specific details, even this tip of the iceberg was enough to be astounding. The concept of 129,600 universes brought about a shock that pushed the limits of her worldview, no less profound than the 'life-severing cut' and 'universe-severing cut' of the old era.

"According to you, this truly is a new era."

Zhi Ji chuckled, "Future Saints, ascending to this Chaos Heaven, will no longer see desolation, lonely emptiness, or the monotonous primal chaos. Instead, they will behold a vast, verdant, vibrant world—an Immortal Realm! This perfectly aligns with the ideal of the most ancient Saint who created the heavens and earth, to build a paradise for living beings..." She suddenly fell silent.

"What do you think this new Chaos Heaven world should be called?" Zhi Ji suddenly asked.

"A name? It's difficult to name. What virtue or ability do I possess?"

Emperor pondered, then solemnly stated, "The information I currently have is scarce, similar to yours. It all comes from ancient Buddhist and Daoist prophecies and legends, like the allusions in the 'Flying Apsaras' murals... The prediction of falling 'cosmic rain' from beyond the heavens has indeed come true, ushering in a new cosmic era... In my opinion, the analysis within those prophecies is very accurate."

The surrounding Saints were completely convinced. Based on the current analysis, the present situation indeed closely matched the scenes depicted in the ancient prophecies. 129,600 constitutes one 'yuan,' which can be called an epoch. Within each epoch, there is rise, decline, and destruction. These thousands of Saints, who had previously been puzzled, now suddenly understood. It truly was so: the universe was a food chain, naturally undergoing cycles of rise and fall.

"Then, when the stars align, R'lyeh will rise from the chaotic seabed, and the great Cthulhu will awaken! The universe will be destroyed... How do you view this prophecy?"

The discussion resumed around them. Emperor also fell into thought, frowning. "That's a more distant prophecy. Currently, no matter how I consider it, I have no clues... Zhi Ji, as a universe yourself, what are your thoughts? A mysterious apocalypse rising from the seabed?"

Zhi Ji paused, then pondered before chuckling, "Something rising from the chaotic seabed... it might be a strange prophecy, I don't understand it either... By the way, what do you think this new era should be named?"

"It's not about what I think, but what the Buddhist and Daoist civilization that made the prophecy believes."

Emperor shook his head. "According to the prophecies, it's likely that in very ancient times, they witnessed the fall of some ultra-small 'cosmic meteors,' gathered them, and thus deduced the future possibility of a genuine cosmic meteor shower, along with its approximate time and year of descent."

Zhi Ji was completely stunned. Could it be that the Insectoids or the Weizu, in ancient times, found a few 'meteor universes' that fell outside the Chaos Heaven? Were they destined for defeat then, and thus calculated this to shape the present situation? Did they calculate the true period of the great meteor shower's descent, only to then scheme against them in this new era?

Perhaps it's possible.

"We can't see it, and they shouldn't have been able to see future eras back then either. Yet, someone is scheming against us. It's likely that someone at that time acquired a few meteor showers and calculated the precise time of their future arrival!"

She frowned, considering it a plausible line of thought.

While she was still pondering, Emperor said, "I have carefully studied the described ancient Buddhist and Daoist history; it is very mysterious... The entity associated with 'The Immortal's Abode of Eternal Youth, where Daoists live as long as Heaven'... seems to reside in a place called the Immortal Realm...."

The surrounding Saints nodded; they too had heard of it. Thinking about it now, such grand and audacious claims make perfect sense! Indeed, surviving in such a universe would allow for a longer existence.

Emperor continued, "Since, in the past, this mysterious ancient civilization acquired a small number of universes and temporarily ushered in a grand era of the Immortal Realm, then now, with the complete opening of the Immortal Realm, it would be fitting to name it according to the terminology of that Buddhist and Daoist civilization—the Immortal Realm... After all, they once said, 'A flower is a world,' and isn't that precisely what we see before us now?"

"That's a precise description!"

"Indeed!"

"A perfect description."

The observing Saints no longer held animosity; they sat and discussed the Dao. They sat some distance away, thousands of them cross-legged in an orderly fashion on the deck, listening to the analysis of this grand cosmic era and its future, their hearts filled with longing.

"Everyone, this is just speculation. The amount of information currently available is too limited."

Emperor, however, shook his head. "But the Immortal Realm might indeed be about to open up. If that's the case, then the Saints within the universe will ascend to a lush, verdant world beyond the Chaos Heaven, filled with the song of birds and the fragrance of flowers—the Immortal Realm!"

Zhi Ji trembled all over as she listened. Destiny! At that moment, she seemed to fully grasp the unseen destiny, the great current of the era. Every era perfects the universe. Slicing open Chaos... Severing divine lifespans... Creating multiverses... Era after era passed, and the destiny of this current era, astonishingly, was like cleaving open the multiverse itself: to establish a realm... an Immortal Realm... beyond the Chaos Sea?

"The land of Chaos, murky and disordered, like a vast junkyard, burying countless beings of past and present. What is before us now is a completion for the universe! An ordering of what lies beyond!" She trembled all over, her mouth slightly agape. "In the old days, I witnessed the creation of the Nine-Origin Universes! Today, I shall witness the creation of the 'Immortal Realm' of Chaos!"

"And in this Immortal Realm, who will be the protagonist of the era, achieving the Dao for the universe of this time?"
