Chapter 798: This Is the Truth

Everyone looked at young Ji under the lush tree and were instantly completely astonished.

Everything has its reasons. The reason now perhaps became clear.

Although Moon God Ji seemed to create the ant nest casually, he still hoped that within it, more powerful ants would emerge, even some that could directly transcend. This was because he needed to survive and also sleep. Therefore, in this world, he wanted to try and find a protector of the path. His maidservants, and even geniuses from various eras, might compete for this role.

"Moon God... Ji," Ji Shang began, "is it truly alright to reveal all the secrets so openly?"

Ji Shang took a deep breath, because too much had been said. What's more, he casually chatted with them, as if discussing everyday matters, showing no airs at all. Prior to this, they had naturally investigated this household. The previous owner was also so amiable and casual, able to chat with anyone who passed by. Yet, their arrival now was treated as if they were just ordinary passersby, engaging in casual conversation. Even after his identity as a true god was discovered, he showed no airs. To them, this was utterly bizarre!

Because in their view, after a god's identity was discovered in the mortal realm, they should at the very least display the majesty and dignity befitting a deity.

"Are we, the great overlords and emperors of these planets, being treated with the same attitude as mere neighbors who drop by?" Ji Shang could only offer a bitter smile.

At the same time, the best course of action for a god would be to show benevolence towards all beings, protect them, announce a selection process for an inheritor, and seek protection during their slumber. With such merit and divine miracles, countless people would surely flock to them. However, he felt that this incredible being was too proud to deceive anyone.

"What are you thinking?" Young Ji interjected. "Ultimately, you think too highly of yourselves...." He suddenly chuckled, took a sip of tea, and said lightly: "If I were to even deceive ants, that would truly be pathetic."

"Ants, too, have the right to know the truth, even if they are always laughable." Young Ji's voice was gentle, but there was a strange coolness in his tone.

Everyone's pupils contracted slightly, and their faces turned pale. Who among those present wasn't a peerless prodigy selected from billions of people on this planet? They were struck by these almost arrogant words, but this was not arrogance; it was a stark, bleeding truth! It exposed the painful scar of their insignificance.

"Also," he continued, "I don't believe you have much chance of transcending. This is merely a game of my own interest, the same game I started with that other person, like a wager.... Unlike him, my game is purely for my own amusement; the outcome doesn't matter."

"A protector of the path, honestly, I'm quite unaccustomed to the idea. After I fall into slumber, even if no one guards me, I will still have contingencies in place. Other beings may not be able to find me. I won't just settle for less, and what you're thinking is... far too presumptuous."

"Alright, you may leave. Don't disturb my reading." Ji waved his hand, lowered his head to his book, and resumed reading serenely under the tree.

Ji Shang's expression subtly changed, and he exchanged glances with those around him. "Thank you, Moon God," he said, bowing slowly, "for dispelling the confusion of us mortals on this earth!"

Ji did not respond. He treated them as if they were air, or the group of moving ants on the ground, as if they were low-dimensional beings... as if he didn't see them at all. A powerful thought suddenly surged in Ji Shang's mind: Do humans care what the ants underfoot say? Sometimes they might look at them, but most of the time they pay no mind. "We are like ants." Ultimately, Ji Shang could only depart quickly.

All the officials present, the high-ranking individuals of the Nine Provinces planet, were utterly horrified and bewildered at this moment!

A gentle breeze rustled through the air.

They walked on the bluestone path leading out of the villa area, where lush greenery lined both sides and fitness facilities could be seen in the distance. The scene they had just witnessed felt like a lifetime ago. It was like a grand dream of life, surreal, yet transcending reality. They had imagined Moon God Ji in countless forms, but no one had envisioned him like this!

"We never imagined that our galactic civilization was truly just a game, an eternal testing ground created by a great deity!"

"And he didn't conceal anything, he told us directly."

"Because the Lord... simply doesn't care."

Even Li Li was deeply shocked. He looked back again, at the young man still in front of the villa's courtyard, quietly reading under the lush, green tree. He was both laughing and crying, feeling utterly devastated.

"He has no 'prestige' at all!" Li Li thought. "Even now, by normal logic, shouldn't a true god, after revealing a miracle, float away and vanish into the void, leaving everyone to prostrate themselves in worship and reverence? Yet this being simply told everyone to leave while he remained to read."

He truly felt that this being surpassed all his previous imaginings. Be it appearance, conversation, attitude, or style.

"Indeed," he mused, "fantasy novels are all misleading." Li Li's eyes flickered, and he finally let out a deep sigh, "Yes, how could such a great and majestic cosmic being possibly care about the feelings of a group of ants? How could it show off among a group of ants, performing various miracles?" When the disparity is too great, perhaps this is the truth. Just like humans wouldn't show off or boast in front of ants. So then, why would he reveal his true form, display divine miracles, and then immediately leave? To maintain majesty or mystery in the eyes of an ant nest? That would be ridiculous.

Everyone was leaving. Just as they exited the residential area, television reporters, urgently carrying various filming equipment, rushed forward to conduct interviews. "Leaders," a strikingly beautiful female reporter asked, "you have just met the ancient Ji. How was it?"

The entire planet, and even the entire galaxy, was deeply stirred, and countless people waited eagerly in front of their televisions. "What will Ji say!?" Old people, children, and youths were all staring at their screens, their breathing quickening. They eagerly awaited what divine oracle the ancient Moon God Ji would bring to the people of this era. Their anticipation was immense.

However, facing a live broadcast to the entire planet, Ji Shang waved his hand, completely uninterested, stating, "We are not accepting interviews right now, please understand!" After saying this, everyone left. This left the overwhelming number of reporters, stunned in place, their faces filled with bewilderment.

After a moment of daze, the reporter, being a quick-witted person, quickly regained her composure and displayed a professional smile. "It seems that the planetary leaders have received divine teachings and gained much!" she announced. "Each of them has a complex expression, needing to rush back to process everything! It's likely they've received ancient civilization legacies no less significant than the Moon God Stele!"

"We humans are surely about to experience another great leap forward!"

"The great Moon God Ji is illuminating our path, bestowing knowledge upon us, guiding us, and protecting all beings!"

The host's words made everyone in front of their televisions cheer. "Thank the great God!" "God is teaching the people on earth!" "We should learn to be grateful!" Countless people celebrated in the streets, bars, and various places, cheering loudly.

Only the leaders and those in power truly knew what they had experienced. The meeting with the god was a conversation that transcended their mental frameworks! Their expressions were complex on the way back.

"We actually applied our logic to such an existence," one of them mused, "trying to measure such a great, unnameable being with our laughable thoughts!"

"We are truly a laughable group of ants," a powerful vampire progenitor spoke, his expression complex and forlorn, "audacious enough to try and fathom, with our own wills, the high heavens!"

"Ridiculous!"

"We are truly ridiculous." Everyone around them felt utterly bitter, self-deprecating, their pride shattered. Li Li looked at these people, remaining silent, and suddenly recalled a certain saying: "Weakness and ignorance are not obstacles to survival; arrogance is." Now they realized how pathetic their ignorance and weakness were... perhaps that was a good thing.

And Li Li himself also gave a bitter laugh. Having been in this world for many years and having largely integrated into this land, he recalled the remark from earlier: "Any laughable or helpless logic from ants is not enough to anger humans. In fact, they would be careful, because a single uncontrolled breath of laughter could blow away their homes... At most, they would simply get tired of laughing, find it uninteresting, and leave those laughable ants."

Li Li strode forward, gazing up at the sky. The stars twinkled, and the golden, full laurel moon hung above. In his heart, he understood much.

"Moon God... Ji's seemingly humble amiability is, in fact, his greatest display of prestige."
