She walked through the corridor and entered the dark stairwell, descending the ancient, long-winding staircase step by step. The murals on the walls were already blurred.
But Medusa stopped, looking closely at the murals. She vaguely sensed something unusual; this fragmented mural seemed to have once encased a world of civilization.
"It's not an internal space," she mused, "but a civilization living within a frame. After all, this frame is as vast as several wizarding worlds, yet it's a vertical mural world... The civilization living inside must have a very difficult and oppressive existence."
"They know their purpose is simply to be like fish in a fishbowl, observed by guests passing through the corridor..."
"How wonderful," she murmured, "a mural of civilization."
"From this, it's clear the owner must be a sophisticated and refined being, with a penchant for collecting and exhibiting civilizations..." She continuously analyzed the character of this entity.
After descending the stairs, she found herself on an indescribable expanse of land.
"War once erupted here too!" she exclaimed. She then continued flying throughout the villa, bypassing terrifying dead ends and exploring rooms.
However, some of the villa's rooms were still too mysterious.
From outside the doors, she could sense the immense terror within, deciding not to enter them for now.
While her combat power was certainly enough to sweep through the entire villa, known as a terrifying dead end—making so-called forbidden areas laughable—she still needed to exercise caution in certain special locations.
"On this corridor, three rooms are currently difficult to access: the one at the very end, the third on the left, and the seventh on the right..."
Moreover, the rooms were incredibly vast!
They were unimaginably vast; simply flying out of one room would take hours.
However, she soon discovered she couldn't leave. She tried looking out the windows of some rooms, but she couldn't see anything outside.
Outside the windows, fragmented spacetime turbulences intertwined into a hazy mist, making visibility extremely low. This rendered it impossible for her to see if the ground in the courtyard was a supernatural world.
And yet, a single small glass window in one room was comparable in size to several wizarding worlds!
Truly unimaginably vast.
"It's better to help tidy up the rooms and repair some furnishings," Medusa murmured with a slight frown. "I can even gradually smooth out some weaker law vortexes."
"But since they were left behind, and a great being of the Ninth Order didn't smooth them out themselves," she continued, "they must have intentionally left these turbulences to conceal their return."
"However, while I won't attempt to manage these vortex law dead ends, the damaged villa—its structures, floors, and murals—can still be repaired."
"A cultural relic restoration project, then?"
After all, goodwill was still very important.
Over the next few months, she would regularly teleport from the glass bottle portal in the Crystal Wall System universe to repair the Cosmic Villa, while simultaneously continuing to govern the Crystal Wall System universe.
She also tried to touch some of the law vortexes, listening for something.
Exploring ancient ruins and tracing the prosperous mythical empire that existed on this land hundreds of thousands of years ago was still very interesting to her.
"This might be the real landing point for my multi-dimensional Crystal Wall System universe, who knows?" Medusa whispered.
In the study, Xu Zhi slowly opened his eyes.
Seeing Medusa diligently tidying up the villa like a busy bee, he immediately felt very pleased; she seemed to be developing into a snake-haired maid-butler for a noble's villa.
At the same time, he was quite unconcerned about the terrifying sights and the numerous law vortexes within the villa.
"The spacetime turbulences that frequently erupt randomly in the outer courtyard are already relatively terrifying dead ends for ordinary Eighth-Order gods," he thought. "The villa's interior is an even greater death trap; ordinary gods would simply perish! Only those of Medusa's and my caliber can walk freely here..."
This was precisely why this cosmic villa remained undisturbed.
"However, the spatial law vortexes here are quite interesting; I might observe them," Xu Zhi mused calmly. Although he wouldn't gain much valuable information, it could be useful for perfecting some civilizations.
After all, development had been too rapid, and solidifying the foundations was always beneficial. Many basic cosmic principles remained unclear, and this was a good opportunity to investigate them.
"Medusa is inside, helping to manage the villa," he thought, "while I will be outside, busy evolving the ancient species in the garden courtyard." After saying this, Xu Zhi, still in his study, mused, "Managing the villa and tending the garden truly is detailed work."
He closed his eyes again, appearing as elegant as a nobleman in a castle.
The Cosmic Garden.
The once desolate land was once again teeming with life.
Greenery began to spread across the land once more, as ancient prehistoric creatures and plants from three hundred thousand years ago revived here.
Their forms and appearances had even subtly changed.
Adaptation to the environment and natural selection were fully at play.
Although the outer courtyard garden was not as terrifying as the interior, the sporadic tides of spatial turbulence could still wipe out everything.
"The laws here have been completely warped; the constantly erupting spacetime energy turbulences... are why this place is dangerous and uninhabitable," Xu Zhi mused, his expression calm.
"Presently, these creatures have evolved spiritual sensory organs," he noted, "with sensitive sensing abilities, like those for earthquakes, enabling them to predict the eruption points of the turbulence in advance."
"However, while animals can move, plants cannot," he continued. "If plants die, animals will starve, and the food chain will collapse... This is why, even with their evolution, they haven't solved this problem yet."
This was inevitable.
Animals could sense it and run.
Like a forest fire, they could relocate quickly, but how could plants run?
Spatial turbulences erupted so frequently, it was as if the land had been plowed over a dozen times, making it very difficult for plants to survive.
"It seems I'll have to interfere with the evolution process," he mused. "While waiting for natural progression would certainly solve it, it would take an eternity..."
Xu Zhi never intended a full-scale Genesis; it would be too long. He merely wanted to revive some ancient creatures and adapt them to the current environment, a process short enough to coincide with Caroline and her group's arrival.
After all, they had already defeated the fourth giant octopus and were about to arrive at this land.
"In that case, I'll integrate some of the players' biological structures, making them into trees that can run," Xu Zhi decided. He looked at everything in the garden and commanded the Zerg sub-brain to incorporate this characteristic.
"However, this might become quite grotesque, truly a sinister and bizarre cosmic estate," Xu Zhi thought. He immediately began the modification.
This was not a difficult task. A month later, most of the plants had learned to run.
"It's about time I opened the garden's territory to Medusa."
Xu Zhi's expression was utterly calm. "This land is truly vast," he mused, "with a surface area equivalent to over ten Earths. It must be a true supernatural great world."
The garden courtyard and the villa were roughly equal in area, presenting a very ancient and luxurious aesthetic.
"Huh? Someone's here?"
Xu Zhi was slightly startled. According to historical records from a nearby planet, this kind of cosmic death trap made the inhabitants of neighboring planets tremble at its mention, making any visitor extremely rare.
Xu Zhi suddenly realized that instead of Caroline, he had encountered several visitors from neighboring planets.
