"What evil aura?" the boy asked.
The two men frowned slightly, sensing an aura that flashed past. It was extremely evil, dark, and chaotic, giving the impression of an evil creature formed from a multitude of dark inner emotions.
"It seems this planet is not simple... Could there be ruins of an ancient civilization? Or have the civilizations of the Fallen Immortals who are pursuing us arrived?" They exchanged glances, planning to investigate.
Meanwhile, Viola quickly accepted reality.
That afternoon, on her way to school, Viola walked down the street in her school uniform, followed by a Biku floating in mid-air. To her surprise, none of the passersby seemed able to see the white porcelain-colored, flying, cat-eared little rabbit.
"I haven't quite decided on a wish yet," Viola said as she walked to school. "But you said witches are evil, that ancient seals were broken, and the great Magical Girls of the Law of the Magic Circle went into slumber... So witches are beginning to awaken and will gradually endanger the world, bringing disasters... If someone needs to stop them, I can try to help."
"Yes, you can do it! You can become a great Magical Girl, defeat those witches, obtain Grief Seeds, and purify them," Biku floated behind her like a balloon. "Magical Girls are powered by the human heart; righteous and kind people are definitely Magical Girls!"
"Witches, on the other hand, are evil creatures formed from the darkest aspects of human nature... In destiny, the two sides, one good and one evil, face each other from afar. Wherever there are witches, there will always be Magical Girls... They exist in a cause-and-effect relationship, coexisting within people's hearts."
Listening to the explanation, Viola felt a sense of ambiguity. "That's too profound... Does that mean only those with kind and righteous hearts can become Magical Girls?"
"Yes," Biku replied, "Magical Girls are great heroes who protect humanity." Even if a "hero" isn't initially kind, the accumulation of incense offerings and the impression of a hero from all beings will make them kind, gradually shaping their personality.
Viola said, "By the way, why do you keep floating behind me? I can't even see you."
The floating magical pet behind her did not answer. As an unmanned camera, it naturally had to follow behind and film for a live broadcast TV series, for the viewing pleasure of beings in front of their televisions.
"I feel a strange change in my body..." And Viola, at that moment, also felt a peculiar power circulating and moving through her body. This was the accumulated emotions and incense offerings from all beings, which could even be called: the blessings of the gods.
This power was rapidly making her stronger. At this moment, it was purifying her aptitude, transforming her originally very ordinary, even talentless, potential into something extraordinary. This was a power beyond common sense, a rapid increase in strength that didn't even require cultivation...
Incense deities are a special type of energy being, like Ultraman Tiga; once formed, they are already gods, not needing gradual progression like ordinary beings. They are creatures formed from the collective thoughts of all beings.
However, this also brought significant limitations. She would subtly transform entirely into an incense being, influenced by the emotions — joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness — that all beings converged upon her. This was the extreme demonic nature of incense.
But if she were strong enough to resist the erosion of the incense and remain an incense being who retained her self, then it would be fine. If her will was not firm, or if she died repeatedly, the incense would completely erode her will... At that point, she would become an incense being truly in the eyes of all beings, acting according to their impressions of her, like a mechanical creature devoid of self, endowed with wisdom by the masses.
However, such an opportunity was inherently extremely rare. It was unimaginable for all beings to converge their faith and bestow it upon a mortal.
*Whoosh.*
As she walked, the entire street suddenly fell silent. The surrounding pedestrians had vanished at some point, and she gradually found herself in a fragmented, colorful grid-like hall, painted in extremely vibrant Western oil colors.
Around her, wicked and plaintive maiden's laments echoed, and brightly colored balloons floated in the sky.
Strange dark-blue pocket watches rotated, and gears formed trains, chugging along through this crumbling world made of pixel grids.
"Where is this? How did I get here?" Viola was completely stunned.
"Quickly, brace yourself! A witch is here, be careful!" Biku shouted. "Hurry, take out your magic wand and transform!"
Viola was startled and quickly turned, pulling a small magic wand from her backpack. She slowly waved it, and solemnly began to chant a profound spell.
*Whoosh!* Endless radiance enveloped her body, radiating sacred and pure white light. The wand in her hand began to glow, swiftly transforming into a long, straight staff, topped with a golden, prismatic crystal gem that shone brilliantly. "Go! Magic Sky Dance!" "Burn my heart, Daughter of Truth, punish the ultimate evil before me!"
She shouted, waving her staff, as if memories from the unseen instantly surged forth. She used it with natural and exquisite skill, gracefully dancing in mid-air as she fought the witch.
The witch opposite scoffed a few times. "Foolish Magical Girls, you cannot stop me from destroying humanity! Take this, Sigh of Sorrow!"
A dazzling, colorful battle erupted.
Further away, two dark blue creatures fell silent, feeling their worldview instantly shattered.
"What... was that???" They were both completely dumbfounded. Putting everything else aside, this scene alone left them blank for a moment.
The garish pixel art style, the bizarre and evil creatures... a middle school girl dressed so revealingly, wielding a magic wand, both sides chanting such embarrassing "lines," fighting back and forth with impressive light and shadow effects, and a full display of various beautiful, colorful light effects.
The boy, watching, was momentarily astonished. "What is this? The fighting looks... somewhat good..." His vocabulary was limited, and he didn't know how to describe it.
"Setting everything else aside, these light effects, this combat... it seems to have too many exaggerated movements," the dark blue creature frowned. "Combat emphasizes efficiency, speed, and a single fatal blow."
But what was happening before them? Full light and shadow effects, various spotlights, and even embarrassing lines being recited...
"Indeed, it appears to be a very backward civilization. But even if it's backward, it should still know better how to conserve energy and avoid unnecessary movements."
The light blue creature said, "This feeling is very strange... How to describe it? Hmm... It's like those tech-genre TV dramas, with lighting, sound effects, poses, directed movements... It's like a special performance for others to watch, like gracefully performed magic."
He offered a very rational assessment. "Indeed, this civilization likely experienced a discontinuity. They might have only inherited courtly performance martial arts, or beautiful, performative magic."
The two observed in secret, making what they thought was the most reasonable guess. However, something that left them dumbfounded occurred.
They soon discovered that the more flamboyant and beautiful the magic, the more exquisite the movements, the more powerful it became... Conversely, when the Magical Girl's movements were not flamboyant or beautiful enough, and were too simplistic, her power rapidly diminished.
"What is this?" Watching the flashy battle, they suddenly began to question everything.
"Could it be that these flashy movements somehow align with some hidden law? Do they resonate with a certain principle, leading to increased power?" The dark blue creature hadn't fully grasped it.
"Did you hit your head?" the light blue creature replied. "Those clearly go against efficient movements... They don't align with any law at all. This defies common sense; it's too bizarre."
The flashier the movement, the greater the power? They were baffled.
In reality, however, this was the essence of the incense system: meticulously designed movements. Because when watching television, as long as the "honored viewers" in front of their screens were pleased, the movements were beautiful, and a "fandom culture" formed, more incense and faith would surge forth.
However, they had no idea about this and could only stare in confusion.
"It looks very strange. Let's rewind the recorded time to see what happened a few hours ago?" The two dark blue creatures smiled, but then, upon seeing what came before, they were utterly bewildered.
