The three artifacts appeared out of nowhere. Their origin is unknown and untraceable, yet they once supported an Emperor of Heaven, which is truly awe-inspiring.
Of course, beings who truly understand and possess insight into certain secrets know that this was a pseudo-Emperor of Heaven, and his true strength needs to be carefully considered.
Nevertheless, this was enough to astound the world, throwing the heavens into great chaos and clamor.
Originally, everyone believed the world was on the verge of destruction. Now, a glimmer of hope has emerged, suggesting a potential turning point. All races are deeply shocked and anticipate that the situation might truly be reversed.
"The Heavenly Emperor's Calendar that Zhou Xi spoke of truly exists; its source has appeared!"
Even Chu Feng was moved, staring intently at the three artifacts in the sky.
He first heard about the Heavenly Emperor's Calendar from Young Lady Xi, who mentioned it dated back over 9.8 million years, which had greatly astonished him at the time.
The sky roared, and then countless gray substances evaporated, purified and cleansed, vanishing from the great chasm.
The three artifacts glowed. Though separate, they rotated together as if a single entity, reminiscent of the universe's primordial beginning when all things returned to their source.
There, the three artifacts moved in unison, radiating holy light that was both peaceful and brilliant. They completely sealed the vast chasm in the sky, closing off the cracks and purifying the ominous substances.
This scene, visible across all the heavens, left beings of every race petrified. The three artifacts, defying all expectations, managed to resolve the great catastrophe and resist the celestial anomaly in such a manner.
The Myriad Tribulation Mirror, the Reincarnation Lamp, and the Chaos Mace each trembled subtly, yet appeared as one, representing a supreme rule and manifesting the cycle of creation, destruction, and renewal from the origin.
Not only in the Yang Realm, but throughout all heavens and myriad realms, the three artifacts manifested, blocking the great chasms in each world and purifying the ominous.
"The Dao gives birth to one, one gives birth to two, two gives birth to three, and three gives birth to all things. These three artifacts are carriers of the Dao; they can manifest all things, return them to unity, and reshape the source. Thus, they can even obliterate the anomalous!"
In this world, there were indeed individuals with profound insight. Now, old paragons whispered among themselves, having discerned part of the three artifacts' essence – they were undeniably carriers of the Dao.
Some of the most ancient and powerful cultivators, survivors from the previous epoch, also discerned something, their eyes gleaming with insight.
Regardless of whether this bodes well or ill, or if future extreme horrors will drive all beings, past and present, to despair, it is undeniable that these three artifacts are currently manifestations of the Dao.
And this Dao transcends the limits of all heavens, existing beyond the mundane world, supreme and exalted!
This is undoubtedly the manifestation of the Dao of a transcendent being!
As time progressed, the great chasm in the sky was being sealed, and the cracks were healing. The three artifacts could give birth to all things, yet also return them to unity, tracing back to their source.
"Who are you?"
From behind the great chasm, that blurry sacrificial ground was surprisingly no longer silent; a hoarse voice emanated, sounding as if from a great distance, reverberating like an echo.
One could even see a humanoid being, very indistinct, behind the blurry sacrificial ground. It had stopped at an even more distant place, its gaze cold and eerie.
The Chief Sacrificer!
He had indeed appeared, but he was infinitely distant, transcending the world and not belonging to any heaven; he was some kind of inconceivable life form.
Even as powerful as he was, he could not cast spells or instantly decapitate an enemy with a single thought.
In fact, the blurry form people perceived of him was merely a manifestation, a reflection and aggregation of certain runes; it was difficult to say whether his true appearance was actually like that.
Nevertheless, he was truly terrifying, disregarding the barriers of space and the flow of time. He transformed a wisp of his emotion into ripples, which manifested within the great chasm outside the heavens.
Whether it was a voice or an emotion, it conveyed his will. He carried a murderous aura, and in his true location, infinite ancestral matter particles were boiling!
Not long ago, the sacrificial ground was pierced, making him realize that a variable had emerged!
To ensure the grand sacrifice proceeded smoothly, he had intended to descend early and preside, yet now another unexpected event had occurred.
Obscure rune ripples spread, instantly causing the heavens to roar and tremble violently without cease!
This seemed as if the three artifacts were responding to something, communicating with the Chief Sacrificer.
"To obstruct my grand sacrifice is to sever my race's path and cut off its supreme Dao foundation. No matter who you are, you will never be forgiven!"
Outside the heavens, in an unpredictable place, the Chief Sacrificer also emitted an ancient consciousness. His voice was the Dao itself, the embodiment of supreme rules, capable of causing a civilization to rise or fall with a single thought.
However, the three artifacts remained persistent, still blocking the chasm and emitting ripples that eventually coalesced into a beam of light. This light projected outwards, as if conveying some message.
The firmament was cracking open, resonating with the light emitted by the three artifacts!
Outside the fractured firmament, chaos was visible. Billions of strands of iridescent light, capable of making even supreme cultivators tremble, intertwined and swept across, transforming into destructive Emperor tribulations.
Someone was fighting, consciously resisting, as beings clashed outside the heavens.
"Has the Chief Sacrificer made a move? Is he intercepting the being behind the three artifacts?"
Throughout the world, cultivators everywhere trembled. Battles between beings of that caliber were too terrifying, capable of obliterating all races with a single thought. Fortunately, they were not taking place within the various realms.
"Why bother? Powerful as you are, do you truly need a grand sacrifice? Even if all heavens were given to you, it wouldn't elevate you further."
A voice emanated, indistinct and distant. It was a mysterious light of consciousness, akin to terrifying waves crashing and expanding beyond the heavens.
Its sound and intent were vaguely transmitted through light and ripples, allowing many cultivators to perceive them.
"Then why have you come?" the Chief Sacrificer asked.
As he spoke, various terrifying phenomena occurred beyond the sky. If anyone were present, they would be horrified; even ultimate beings would feel a chilling dread.
The so-called supreme beings of all heavens would prostrate and kowtow here. What exactly were those strange phenomena?
Immortal kings were stained with blood, kneeling headless on the ground; entire worlds were ignited, serving as wick flames before certain beings…
All these strange phenomena were indescribable and not to be scrutinized; otherwise, all powerful beings within the heavens would fall into despair, seeing no glimmer of future hope.
"Haha... Thank you. I have found my way back. No thoughts, no desires, nothing can stop my return. It feels like yesterday; the Emperor's bones are still fresh. I left home as a youth and return this morning."
A sudden voice rang out, creating ripples in the realm beyond the great chasm. Another mysterious being manifested, intending to return to the heavens.
People were not astonished, but rather terrified.
What reason could compel beings of such a supreme level, who transcend epochs and can stand beyond the vast ocean of time, to return?
Simultaneously, people's hearts trembled violently. How many such beings have there been throughout history? Not counting others, three have already made their presence known!
The sacrificial ground glowed as if obliterating something, instantly dimming the space outside the heavens as dense gray mist covered everything.
Only a few individuals realized what the Chief Sacrificer was doing!
The being that had emitted the voice and mentioned the Emperor's bones was, in fact, positioning itself, much like bats in the mortal world emitting ultrasonic waves to scout their path.
The Chief Sacrificer, however, directly severed its intention!
The three artifacts also stopped rotating. Instead, they emitted a mysterious, obscure aura, confining the rules and everything beyond the heavens.
What they were doing was similar to the Chief Sacrificer's actions: both were silently severing everything, providing no coordinates for the later arriving being, or even misleading it.
In the Yang Realm, the Martial Madman was horrified. He had been caressing a pile of fragments, which he had just reassembled into a pot, but now he actively threw them, scattering them across the ground.
Outside the heavens, the endless Sea of Worlds undulated, with surging waves. Every droplet within each wave was a dead world, a decaying universe.
This sea remained isolated, severing the connection between the heavens and the mysterious realms above.
Beyond the Sea of Worlds, in the realms above, lay desolation. Great rivers surged and mysterious oceans churned, as if separated by countless epochs.
In this desolate place, there was a severed oasis. Was that the Heaven Beyond? It was uncertain; it seemed to be merely a small corner!
If Chu Feng were to transcend, he would naturally see that this corner looked familiar: it was the great world where the so-called Area 51, which he had encountered in the Grand Supreme Forbidden Zone, was located.
Compared to the vast desolation, that place was utterly minuscule, like a speck of dust, and utterly insignificant compared to the true Heaven Beyond.
At this moment, a small, dark, flat boat was perilously crossing the boundless ocean of the Heaven Beyond. Divine chains of order locked the ocean, and the ripples they created silently severed space.
One could see that this vast ocean was truly bizarre.
It was, in fact, composed of a mixture of blood and the remains of countless beings.
The bodies of every creature here were as boundlessly vast as a universe.
Indeed, they were even larger; within them, endless stellar remnants rotated, and dim starlight flickered.
This sea existed outside the heavens, above the Sea of Worlds; it was a sea of the outer realms, a sea of the Heaven Beyond.
The Heaven Beyond—where exactly was it?
Was it the world where the so-called Area 51 was located?
Clearly not!
At the very end of the entire desolate land, where a more concentrated vitality existed, lay the true land of the Heaven Beyond.
Near the Heaven Beyond was the outer sea, the Sea of the Heaven Beyond.
The small black boat was merely striving to cross.
On the boat stood a blurry figure: precisely the being who had emitted the voice and mentioned the Emperor's bones. He intended to return.
"I have been silent for too long. Now, I rise by thought, born of contemplation. I have awakened and will now return; no one can stop me."
He was manifesting, he was speaking. His voice and form were very indistinct, not entirely clear, because he was manifesting across countless regions, expanding into the vast cosmos.
The rules and Dao traces there were unimaginable; even boiling ancestral matter was suppressed. Only his true body could exist there eternally, unperishing.
At this moment, the small black boat and the blurry figure of this person manifested across all regions, even appearing outside the great chasm in all heavens.
Everyone gasped. Was this being truly returning?
A humanoid being, with a similar, albeit blurry, form. However, he might not truly be human, nor even the ancestor of any known race.
After all, he had been gone for an unknown number of epochs. His origin was unknown, and the consequences of his return were uncertain; it could be a new dawn, or perhaps an even more terrifying source of horror.
Now, cultivators everywhere, including many old monsters, realized there were secrets and problems among the heavens. Otherwise, why would it come to this, with all three of these beings wanting to return!
Whether in the past or present, there were clearly unknown circumstances.
In the past, an ominous source appeared, along with sacrificial grounds, where a grand sacrifice occurred every epoch. Such regularity was truly abnormal.
Just as the being behind the three artifacts stated, what need do beings powerful enough to reach that level have for such things?
Yet, the very being behind the three artifacts also came, indirectly proving that major problems exist within the heavens, both in the past and in the present.
Now, another being has arrived, and it must have a purpose!
"The small black boat is merely crossing. I know what level of being this one who speaks of Emperor bones is!"
Outside the domain, in the bronze coffin, the Dog Emperor spoke, its expression immensely solemn. Even it was afraid, filled with anxiety about the future. An unprecedented change had occurred throughout history; this world was becoming increasingly complex, and the future… was worrisome!
Perhaps, in the near future, the situation would drive even it to despair.
On New Year's Eve, I wish everyone happiness, family bliss, and most importantly, good health and that everything goes smoothly in the New Year.
Is it too short? If so, I'll write another small chapter.
