Many traces? Did they mark the path that person walked, or the places where he fought, leaving indelible imprints? It sparked contemplation.
"What terrifying ruins, indescribable and horrifying," the Old Emperor's voice drifted back, traversing space-time and the Sea of Sacrifice.
He seemed a bit lost in thought; even now, recalling those events made him appear somewhat dazed.
This was terrifying. So much time had passed, yet the memory of those old events still left him in this state, which was truly shocking and unsettling.
What situation could unnerve even an Immortal Emperor? What kind of ruins were they, and how terrifying could they be?!
"Indescribable, dangerous, and daunting," the Old Emperor added.
Everyone listened intently, eager to learn about the past.
However, he didn't elaborate much, only telling them that, given their current level of evolution, touching upon those taboos could lead to ominous events for them in the future.
This was chilling. Separated by countless great worlds, spanning the Heavens and the Sea of Sacrifice, could traces from that place truly become sentient? Would bizarre incidents occur and target them?!
People found it utterly incomprehensible and somewhat preposterous.
"It's not about you now, but in the future," the Old Emperor's indistinct voice came from beyond this world. "One day, if any of you become strong enough, misfortune might arise from today's contact."
"Senior, we truly want to know," Nine Dao One pressed persistently.
"Brilliant Emperor's blood, arms, fingernails, claws, solidified worlds, a silent cosmos; in another area, a hazy figure blocked the once brilliant path of evolution; and in yet another, time flowed backward, history replaying in reverse, unfolding and re-enacting itself..."
The Old Emperor spoke slowly, vaguely describing a few things.
From his description, it was clear that more than one Dao-End level being had left behind fragmented bodies and blood. Even more terrifying, the primordial grand cosmos had been overturned, undergoing all sorts of bizarre transformations.
"I can only mention a few words feebly," he explained, "otherwise, the true scenes would directly manifest, and even I would find it hard to shake them off; they would follow me like shadows, extremely troublesome."
Upon hearing these words, everyone was truly shocked, their hearts palpitating, and their scalps tingling with dread.
Indescribable scenes, once mentioned, even briefly elaborated upon, would they truly reappear?
Even an Immortal Emperor couldn't escape them? They would be followed?
This was terrifying to the extreme!
And this was only a part of what he mentioned, just a few vague, disjointed words, not touching upon the true essence of things.
For a long time, everyone remained silent.
How could they even begin to understand this?
Every individual, including the Dao Ancestors, felt insignificant, not even qualified to know or understand certain matters.
However, Nine Dao One was still unwilling to give up. He didn't ask about the traces but brought up "that person" again.
"Senior, where did he go exactly? Can you tell us?" Nine Dao One asked earnestly, almost pleadingly. This seasoned monster had never shown such an expression before.
For many years, he had always been overwhelmingly powerful. Today, to seek information about that person, he was willing to do anything.
"I don't know; I am also searching," the Old Emperor gave this answer. "And some matters are beyond your involvement; stepping into them could be worse than death."
Then, though his voice was ethereal and faint, one could still sense his gravity as he solemnly warned, "Do not seek it out!"
If even traces were like this, how much more so the person himself? Untraceable!
"Senior..." The Dog Emperor also bared its fangs, showing great audacity. It also wanted to ask about the hidden details regarding the Three Great Emperors, wondering if this person knew anything.
However, before it could say more, a change occurred.
"Hmm?! Indeed, I shouldn't have told you those things just now. Something ominous has appeared, following me like a shadow!"
There was trouble at the Sea of Sacrifice; the Old Emperor had encountered difficulty.
"One truly cannot speak carelessly. An enemy has actually pursued me. It seems I cannot return to my homeland for now!"
Clearly, something far more serious had occurred.
"Senior, are you alright?" The beings from the heavens were concerned. A Dao-End level guardian had finally appeared, and it was the former Immortal Emperor who held the world in his heart. No one wanted anything to happen to him; they were greatly worried.
"What kind of enemy?" The half-darkened being on Earth finally spoke again, no longer silent.
"Back then, I guarded the Land of Misfortune, waiting to hunt mice," the Old Emperor informed them. "Now, a cat might be pursuing me, seeking revenge for those mice."
This being was quite confident and flamboyant, viewing the countless pathways leading from the source of the Land of Misfortune as mere rat holes. This was clearly a taunt, likening Dao-End level monsters to rats.
Now, he said a cat had pursued him, which indicated he had encountered an extremely terrifying foe!
"No, this is... a fierce tiger!" The Old Emperor was extremely serious. Even though he hadn't yet seen the opponent in the Sea of Sacrifice, he had already sensed everything.
Upon hearing this, everyone gasped in cold air. He must have encountered a peerless great fiend, otherwise, he wouldn't use such a term!
"You're not going to fall, are you? After this, I will be reborn and free." The half-darkened being on Earth asked, its emotions complex, knowing its true self had encountered great trouble.
"Over all these years, what great storms haven't I weathered?" the Old Emperor retorted. "It's just a fierce tiger, nothing much. Judging from the traces left by that person back then, he must have encountered an even more terrifying 'ferocious tyrannosaurus.' These current issues are nothing!"
Even after encountering a peerless fierce tiger, the Old Emperor still didn't lose his composure, remaining calm, and even found the mood to jest. One could only say this was due to his unrestrained and audacious personality, not because the enemy posed little threat to him.
In fact, he was in big trouble!
All the Kings and Dao Ancestors of the Lesser Netherworld were anxious, worried about him.
"Something isn't right," the Old Emperor whispered. "It seems those traces really are quite strange. I mentioned them, and they truly manifested, then brought forth misfortune!" Then he acted!
"What are you... doing?!" The half-darkened being on Earth shouted.
"You and I were originally one," the Old Emperor said. "Now, let us go fight!" The Old Emperor intended to take it with him, to merge into one.
"You said you didn't tamper with anything," the being countered, "yet you and I are separated by the Heavens, spanning the Sea of Sacrifice, like ancient times from the present. It should have been difficult for you to influence the current world, yet now you can directly take me away?!"
Next, people saw vast expanses of black mist rising from the blue planet ahead, constantly expanding, boundless and immense, almost filling the entire cosmos.
But in an instant, it faded, rapidly blurring until it completely vanished!
"I didn't lie to you," the Old Emperor said. "We are of one mind and body; uniting now will make us stronger. There is no distinction between the main body and a clone. Come, let us go to battle together!"
At the same time, he left a final message, transmitting it to everyone in the Lesser Netherworld.
"What you have seen and heard today will not benefit you. If beings from the Land of Misfortune and the source of strangeness were to learn of this, it could bring unpredictable trouble upon you. After all, I cannot return now."
It was hard to say how many years a battle of that caliber would take to conclude.
After all, it had taken him more than one epoch just to find the general vicinity of the Land of Misfortune.
The opponent's pursuit had likely also consumed a vast amount of time, which for ordinary beings would already be ancient history.
At this point, the Old Emperor let out a soft exclamation, saying, "Life is but a dream; memories, sever!"
In an instant, the minds of all the Kings went blank. Their thoughts completely froze, unable to process anything. Their soul-light stiffened, and they remained fixed in place.
Some memories in their hearts, recent imprints, and so on, were all wiped away!
Only the memories of New Emperor Gu Qing and Dao Ancestor Nine Dao One were preserved. Their cultivation levels were relatively high, so the Old Emperor did not cast a spell on them.
Because if everyone in the heavens knew nothing about those matters, it wouldn't do; it would be equivalent to losing a chance to partially grasp the truth.
Furthermore, Chu Feng did not lose his memory. At the crucial moment, the stone jar within him glowed faintly, with Dao patterns intertwining, protecting his true spirit.
The Old Emperor didn't pay attention to him; after casting the spell, he vanished, unconcerned with the outcome.
Chu Feng strongly suspected that if the Old Emperor reappeared, it might be hundreds of thousands of years in the future.
Worse still, people might never see him again in this epoch.
This meant that everyone had lost their connection with him. Only beings from the future might have a chance to interact with him.
Is this what Dao-End level beings are like? Their appearance and disappearance might be quite normal for them.
However, as time flowed and the world underwent profound changes, the beings across the heavens had long since gone through countless generations, even several shifts in civilizations!
"What happened? Why do I feel like I've forgotten something extremely precious and important? How can this be? My mind is completely blank?!" A peak Immortal King growled.
"Something definitely happened. This Emperor feels violated! Who touched my soul?!" The Dog Emperor bared its fangs, looking incredibly fierce. Its instinctive intuition was too sharp.
Then it pounced, insistently badgering Nine Dao One to tell it what had happened.
"Later!" Nine Dao One was extremely serious. He gazed up at the sky, desperately wanting to look through the Heavens and across the Sea of Sacrifice to witness the epochal battle unfolding.
"It's useless to think about it." Chu Feng leaned closer and secretly transmitted a message to Nine Dao One, saying, "Senior, do me a favor. There's a supreme treasure in the Lesser Netherworld; it needs to be collected!"
He was very excited. He had been planning to acquire that supreme treasure for a long time, but a formidable shadowy presence on Earth, like a terrifying shadow, shrouded the entire Lesser Netherworld cosmos, preventing him from returning. Now, this was a rare opportunity!
Moreover, he had finally returned to his homeland and could see some old acquaintances, settling affairs of the mortal world.
