Chapter 120: Game Theory

“Armsmaster.”

As the two words left Han Meng’s lips, the gun in Chen Ling’s hand suddenly flew out, instantaneously seized by Han Meng and reversed in his grip!

All this happened too suddenly, so much so that Chen Ling was stunned for a moment. He looked at his empty palm, a trace of bewilderment flashing in his eyes beneath the mask.

What kind of skill is this?

“It seems you don’t know much about the Judgment Path.” Han Meng held the gun in one hand, its muzzle pointed at the red-clothed figure in front of him, his eyes slightly narrowed. “The Judgment Path’s second-tier skill, Armsmaster, allows one to control all weapons around them. Using a gun to intimidate me… was a wrong decision.”

Han Meng propped himself up with one hand on the ground and shakily stood up. His face was still pale, but much better than before.

His gun muzzle remained aimed at Chen Ling, and he continued:

“No matter what faction you belong to, since you saved me, I won’t make things difficult for you… Take off your mask, and I’ll let you go.”

The gun pointed, and the crimson smiling face on the black mask stared straight at Han Meng, showing no intention of complying.

“Let me go?” The red-clothed figure scoffed. “Are all you Enforcers so arrogant?”

“Do you want to take a closer look at what you’re holding?”

Han Meng’s brow furrowed slightly, his gaze shifted downward, and he froze in place.

At some point, the “gun” he was pointing at Chen Ling had turned into a smooth banana… Meanwhile, the red-clothed figure unhurriedly raised his other hand and pressed Han Meng’s own gun against his forehead once more.

“Armsmaster? Is it impressive?”

The black mask was almost pressed against Han Meng’s face, its exaggerated crimson smile seeming to mock him wantonly. He dropped the playfulness from his tone and spoke with icy, murderous intent:

“This will be your last provocation against me. Do not attempt to test my patience… Enforcer.”

As he finished speaking, he tucked the gun back into Han Meng’s waistband…

Yes, he had returned the gun to Han Meng.

A look of solemnity appeared in Han Meng’s eyes for the first time. In his view, Chen Ling’s action was undoubtedly a display of power, a silent challenge, implying: “Even if I return the gun to you, what can you do?”

This gesture completely dispelled Han Meng’s intention to act. In truth, Han Meng had used Armsmaster to seize the gun partly to regain the initiative, and partly to probe the red-clothed man’s strength. However, the abilities the opponent displayed completely exceeded Han Meng’s understanding.

Among the divine paths Han Meng knew of, none should possess such bizarre skills. This confirmed his earlier suspicion that the man was a “Synthesizer”…

The red-clothed man had been provoked by his test. If he were to act again, the outcome would be unpredictable… In this situation, maintaining the current brief peace and secretly looking for clues was the optimal solution.

“Is this the ability of your Calamity?” Han Meng remained undeterred by Chen Ling, asking calmly as if nothing had happened. “To be able to merge with such a powerful Calamity without your mental will being affected, and without obvious signs of bodily mutation… How did you do that?”

“You’re talking too much, Enforcer,” Chen Ling said flatly.

Seeing this, Han Meng wisely closed his mouth.

Naturally, Chen Ling couldn’t let Han Meng probe him. He cut him off with a single sentence, then smoothed the wide sleeves of his theatrical robe, turned, and walked towards the edge of the black land, leaving only a mysterious silhouette behind.

Han Meng squinted, watching him for a moment, then also stepped forward and followed.

“Why are you following me?” Chen Ling tilted his head, his cold voice emanating from beneath the black mask.

“Humans walking in the Gray Realm will attract Calamities to swarm them, and you are the only color here. Only by following you will they not approach,” Han Meng replied expressionlessly. “Since I survived, there’s no need to rush off to my death.”

Humans get swarmed in the Gray Realm? Is that true?

Chen Ling made a mental note. Come to think of it, no Calamity had indeed approached him since he entered the Gray Realm…

Of course, Chen Ling didn’t believe Han Meng’s reason. Given Han Meng’s character, it was impossible for him to cling to others just to survive. He was following him, undoubtedly still wanting to figure out his identity.

Another gamble of acting and cunning…

Chen Ling sighed inwardly. He had merely intended to save Han Meng on a whim, never expecting such trouble to follow.

“As you wish,” Chen Ling replied indifferently.

Perhaps because of that last remark, Han Meng said nothing this time, simply walking quietly behind and to his side. The atmosphere suddenly grew somewhat stiff.

A few minutes later, Chen Ling finally couldn’t resist and slowly spoke:

“What do you think of this place?”

“Where?”

Chen Ling raised a hand and pointed to the ground.

“The Gray Realm?” Han Meng’s gaze swept over their surroundings. After a moment of thought, he said, “It’s very dull, very oppressive… and very dangerous.”

“It is somewhat oppressive… but after a while, it’s not so bad,” Chen Ling nodded slightly. The black mask tilted up, and two crimson eyes gazed at the leaden-gray clouds in the sky. “How does it compare to your Aurora Domain?”

Han Meng’s heart stirred. It sounded as though this red-clothed man had spent years in the Gray Realm… But then again, a Synthesizer’s existence was difficult; they were simply not tolerated in human domains. It was normal for him to constantly be in the Gray Realm.

“The Aurora Domain…” A complex expression flashed in Han Meng’s eyes. “The Gray Realm is indeed better.”

“Oh?”

“While Calamities are dangerous, they’re still less so than human hearts.”

“That’s not something an Enforcer should say.”

“Being an Enforcer is a responsibility to me, not just a position,” Han Meng shook his head. “I say what I want; they cannot bind me.”

The black mask turned, giving him a deep look. “It sounds like you’re not satisfied with the Enforcer system.”

“Perhaps.”

“Why don’t you choose to leave?”

“Leave? Go where?” Han Meng looked at him, his eyes narrowed slightly. “Other domains are too far, and they might not be better than the Aurora Domain… Am I supposed to join malevolent organizations like the Crimson Sky Cult or the Twilight Society?”

“Who can determine good and evil?” Chen Ling replied calmly. “Do you believe that Enforcers represent good?”

Han Meng quietly watched Chen Ling’s back. After a long pause, he slowly spoke:

“It seems you are with the Twilight Society.”

Beneath the black mask, Chen Ling’s pupils subtly contracted.

He instantly regained control of his body, not allowing his steps to falter in the slightest, and continued walking unhurriedly forward.

“What makes you say that?”
