As his Fire Spiritual Root had reached its limit and would not undergo further changes, Chen Mobai did not visit the Sacred Tree Secret Realm to acquire the Great Art of the Eternal Life Sect during this Nine Yang Body transformation.
He only returned to the Immortal Sect briefly, communicating with Zhuang Jialan in the Extreme North Grotto-Heaven. Learning that the Purple Cloud Palace ruins were being excavated systematically, he felt reassured.
Naturally, he also remembered to call Shi Wanyu and her daughter.
"Dad, when are you coming back?"
Unlike Shi Wanyu's reserved affections, Chen Xiaohei was much more forthright.
"Soon, once I handle a few things here..."
Chen Mobai could only offer that response. He had not attended the Immortal Sect's year-end conference because, during that assembly, Nangong Xuanyu had formally gained recognition from the Kaiyuan Hall and assumed control of the military's authority.
Furthermore, Gongye Zhixu had revealed his Nascent Soul cultivation at the conference. He was originally the Deputy Head of the Immortal Affairs Hall; had he returned to that post, he would have had to wait for Ying Guanghua's retirement to assume leadership, which certainly did not align with the interests of the Heaven-Mending lineage.
Thus, at this conference, the Heaven-Mending lineage leveraged its influence to directly propel him into a position on the Kaiyuan Hall's rotating committee.
Although Ye Yun'e tried her utmost to intervene, without the support of the Dancing Weapons and Jumang lineages, and given Gongye Zhixu's strength as a Nascent Soul cultivator and his extensive network, an overwhelming momentum had already built up, rendering it impossible to resist.
If this trend continued, it was highly probable that all three major halls of the Immortal Sect would eventually fall under the complete control of the Heaven-Mending lineage.
Ye Yun'e was furious about this, believing the Dancing Weapons and Jumang lineages to be remarkably short-sighted.
She reasoned that if their three lineages had united, they could have, at the very least, prevented Gongye Zhixu's ascent.
However, the Dancing Weapons and Jumang lineages had, long ago, established their primary strategy: to await the maturation of their own potential for God Transformation.
They believed that once Chen Mobai and Wenren Xuewei achieved Nascent Soul cultivation, their two lineages would gain the opportunity to challenge the Heaven-Mending lineage within the three major halls.
Consequently, they adopted a stance of neutrality, observing the power struggles within the three major halls from the sidelines.
This strategy also served to buy time for their own God Transformation talents to mature.
It was precisely for this reason that they agreed to Chen Mobai's departure from Wangwu Grotto-Heaven to focus on secluded cultivation in the Extreme North Grotto-Heaven.
"Senior Sister Pei appears to be doing very well."
After his call with Shi Wanyu and her daughter, Chen Mobai held a remote meeting with members of the Dancing Weapons lineage. He learned that after his departure, Pei Qingshuang had admirably taken up the mantle for both their lineages in Wangwu Grotto-Heaven, skillfully maneuvering against the Heaven-Mending Kunpeng, which earned her his profound commendation.
There was, however, also unwelcome news: at the recent year-end conference, the Dancing Weapons lineage lost two more councilors in the Kaiyuan Hall, as they had reached the legal retirement age.
While one loss was perhaps manageable, the other individual had been a deputy minister wielding significant authority within a key department of the Immortal Affairs Hall.
With this retirement, the Heaven-Mending lineage naturally seized the opportunity, wasting no time in installing one of their own Golden Core councilors to fill the power vacuum, rather than allowing the Dancing Weapons lineage to appoint their replacement.
Had Chen Mobai been present, he might have been able to reclaim it through negotiation.
But as it stood, they had no choice but to concede.
Another illustrative example was the Jumang Daoist Academy.
They too had a councilor from a powerful department retire. However, because their lineage had voted in favor of the Heaven-Mending lineage during Nangong Xuanyu's ascendancy to the Palace of Righteous Law, coupled with Pei Qingshuang's presence, Ying Guanghua extended considerable courtesy, allowing the Jumang lineage to select their own replacement.
Within the three major halls, the influence of the Dancing Weapons lineage was contracting year by year. The Jumang lineage, while striving to minimize its power losses, could only retain certain core authorities, lacking the capacity to appoint its own personnel to many peripheral positions.
In stark contrast, the Heaven-Mending lineage was undergoing a significant expansion, steadily encroaching upon the positions held by the other three lineages.
The Kunpeng lineage could only just manage to protect its own interests.
The only fortunate aspect was that the Heaven-Mending lineage conducted all these maneuvers strictly within the established rules.
They consistently waited until the term of a core figure from one of the other three lineages concluded before making their move. Naturally, if any individual exhibited improper conduct during their tenure, the Heaven-Mending lineage would not hesitate to remove them directly and replace them with one of their own, citing legitimate reasons.
In response, after concluding the internal meeting of the Dancing Weapons lineage, Chen Mobai issued directives for the next few years.
He instructed all their members to maintain impeccable conduct and avoid giving the Heaven-Mending lineage any pretense for action.
And then, to wait patiently...
After the meeting, Chen Mobai called Wenren Xuewei, initially planning to discuss the matters concerning the three major halls with her.
However, Wenren Xuewei stated that she had already entrusted these affairs to Pei Qingshuang.
She was currently focused on her cultivation, and with the aid of the Great Chinese Scholar Tree and Fifth-Tier water-vein spiritual energy, she expected to break through to the eighth layer of the Golden Core realm in approximately two or three years.
One could only say she was a true genius; even in the Heavenly River Realm, she would be capable of contending with the Daoists and Saintesses of the Sacred Lands.
When serious, her cultivation progress was almost on par with Chen Mobai's, despite his reliance on elixirs.
"I hope that by the time we meet again, both of us will have successfully formed our Nascent Souls."
Chen Mobai pondered for a moment, then subtly laid the groundwork.
He wanted to avoid shocking her should he suddenly return having achieved Nascent Soul cultivation.
"I'll take that as a good omen," Wenren Xuewei replied with a smile.
After their call ended, Chen Mobai rang Pei Qingshuang, and his first words were an apology.
"Senior Sister Pei, the Azure Frost Sword might be needed for a few more years..."
He had been unflagging in his efforts in the Heavenly River Realm this past year. As soon as the Twin Purple-Green Swords were sufficiently recuperated, he would ascend to the Ninth Heaven Gang to condense the Touzi Fire.
Thanks to the full cooperation of the Twin Purple-Green Swords, he had condensed twenty wisps of Nine Heaven Clear Spirit Purple Splendor Qi this year, which sublimated into one-fifth of a Touzi Fire.
Now, with seven days of cultivation, he could condense a complete strand of Pure Yang True Qi.
This involved five days of condensing True Qi and two days of recovering Pure Yang spiritual energy.
This accelerated pace was only possible because he spared no expense, utilizing top-grade and supreme-grade spirit stones.
Otherwise, the recovery period would be significantly longer.
With Qing Nv as his Dao Companion, Chen Mobai no longer needed to personally supervise the charging of spirit stones; he could simply leave them at Tianpeng Mountain.
In about two more years, he would be able to condense eighty-one strands of Pure Yang True Qi.
This quantity represented the pinnacle for Pure Yang Scroll cultivators within the Golden Core realm.
However, since Chen Mobai's Pure Yang True Qi was cultivated rapidly rather than meticulously condensed by himself, it would still require further refinement using the Lamp Burning Art.
Still, he needed to wait for his Primal Chaos True Qi to reach completion, so this additional time was well within his expectations.
While the Three Light Divine Water provided a safety net, Chen Mobai undoubtedly aimed for a single, successful attempt. Therefore, he intended to prepare himself as thoroughly as possible when attempting to form his Nascent Soul.
At the very least, he wished to ensure perfection in his essence, qi, and spirit.
Although Pei Qingshuang truly missed the Azure Frost Sword, since Chen Mobai had requested it, she could only continue to lend it, especially given their close friendship.
After conversing for a bit longer, Chen Mobai ended the call.
He pulled up his contact list once more, reviewed it, then proceeded to call Meng Huang'er and Yan Bingxuan separately.
Meng Huang'er's tone was, predictably, filled with pleasant surprise when she received his call.
"Hmm, it's alright, I'll take care of myself. I believe you will definitely form your Nascent Soul and return triumphant. Even if it takes decades, or a hundred years, I will wait for you..."
The first part of Meng Huang'er's statement had touched Chen Mobai.
However, the latter half left him somewhat displeased.
What did she mean by that?
He would need decades to form his Nascent Soul?
He could attempt Nascent Soul formation in as little as ten years, perhaps a bit longer, but certainly no more than twenty.
Given his profound foundation, the likelihood of success was exceedingly high.
He found Meng Huang'er's words somewhat inauspicious, as if she were implying his first attempt would fail.
"Alright then, for the next decade, I may be entering deep seclusion, so our contact will be less frequent..."
Chen Mobai's tone flattened slightly.
"Understood, then you focus on your work. Cultivation is important."
After Meng Huang'er finished speaking, Chen Mobai acknowledged her with a hum and ended the call.
He seemed a little displeased?
Meng Huang'er keenly sensed the shift in Chen Mobai's tone during his last two sentences, leaving her perplexed. She had thought her earlier words would perfectly resonate with a man feeling frustrated in his political career, and that such emotional support would only deepen his affection for her...
As Meng Huang'er meticulously analyzed every word of her conversation with Chen Mobai, strategizing how to improve for their next interaction, Chen Mobai had already dialed Yan Bingxuan's number.
"My teacher called me, saying they're hiring me back to the academy to teach courses in the Elemental Qi department. After sixty years of service, the Natural Academy will grant me a Water Elemental Golden Core Elixir."
Yan Bingxuan informed Chen Mobai of this development, and he, upon hearing it, concluded it was a good option.
He had initially brought Yan Bingxuan to Wangwu Grotto-Heaven with the idea that, under his protection, she could expand Xuanshuang Company and thereby secure a spot for outstanding societal contributors within the Immortal Sect to acquire a Golden Core Elixir.
With his assistance, this endeavor would certainly have been unproblematic.
However, he was now considered to be in a state of decline.
To other members of the Immortal Sect, he had been ousted from the center of power, relegated to watching snow and fishing in the extreme north.
Without his protective umbrella, Xuanshuang Company's development had been severely constrained over the past two years.
Were it not for the support of the Dancing Weapons lineage, it might even have operated at a loss.
After all, the Heaven-Mending lineage was undeniably the foremost in the Immortal Sect when it came to elemental qi mastery.
All of Xuanshuang Company's technology originated from the Heaven-Mending lineage's authorization.
Even without resorting to unfair tactics, merely through legitimate commercial competition, Xuanshuang Company found itself struggling in Wangwu Grotto-Heaven.
Under these circumstances, allowing Yan Bingxuan to continue pouring her effort into this would be a regrettable waste of her youth.
Upon learning of this, Yan Qiongzhi arranged a path to Golden Core formation for Yan Bingxuan, who was both her junior and disciple.
"I believe you should go. Although I expect to return in about ten years, there's truly no need for you to struggle here in Wangwu Grotto-Heaven during that time. Teaching students at the Natural Academy would be beneficial; consider it a change of pace."
As Chen Mobai finished speaking, Yan Bingxuan responded with a somewhat dejected "oh."
In her view, Xuanshuang Company represented the culmination of her and Chen Mobai's hard work.
She had poured all her efforts into it, aiming to expand and strengthen the company so that it would be recognized throughout the Immortal Sect.
But now, if she were to go to the Natural Academy, the company would effectively cease to operate.
This felt to her like a very inauspicious sign.
However, given Chen Mobai's "expulsion" from the Palace of Righteous Law and his subsequent relocation to the extreme north to watch snow and fish, this was indeed the best choice for her.
"It's alright. When I return, I will work with you to develop Xuanshuang Company into the Immortal Sect's foremost malevolent qi liquid energy company."
Chen Mobai, discerning Yan Bingxuan's mood from her dejected tone, immediately offered a reassuring remark that lifted her spirits.
"Hmm, the Natural Academy periodically brings new students with Ice Spiritual Roots to the Extreme North Grotto-Heaven to experience the purest natural ice spiritual energy. I'll see if I can become a team leader for one of those trips and come visit you."
Yan Bingxuan's words brought even greater joy to Chen Mobai.
"Then please let me know in advance before you come, as I anticipate being in deep seclusion for the next few years."
It was peculiar how Yan Bingxuan, typically a woman of few words who communicated in concise sentences, always found herself opening up when speaking with Chen Mobai.
By the time the call ended, Chen Mobai checked the time; it was already the next morning.
He stretched, clicked his Turtle Treasure again, and returned to the Eastern Wasteland.
Tianpeng Mountain had been transformed into an alchemy base by Qing Nv. Besides the standard alchemy equipment, she had also directed the disciples of the Five Elements Sect to excavate a medicinal pool.
That day, Qing Nv had just supervised Yan Jinye in refining a batch of Meridian Guarding Pills, while she herself had successfully refined another batch of Return to Truth Pills.
Chen Mobai had learned the value of this particular elixir at the Big Dipper Conference.
Consequently, upon his return, he instructed the Five Elements Sect to spare no expense in collecting the necessary ingredients. With additional "assistance" from Huantian Valley, they finally amassed enough for another batch by year-end.
This elixir didn't even require the aid of Chen Mobai's Touzi Fire. With Qing Nv's skill as a Fourth-Tier alchemist, having refined the Outer Path Golden Core, she could produce ten perfect pills effortlessly.
"Unfortunately, we are still missing one primary ingredient for the Spirit Yuan Pill," Qing Nv said with a hint of regret as she handed the Return to Truth Pills to Chen Mobai.
Although Chen Mobai was already at the ninth layer of Golden Core, he could still enhance his spiritual power, which was why she constantly aimed to refine Spirit Yuan Pills for him.
The higher one's cultivation, the faster their spiritual power recovers.
However, Chen Mobai was not overly concerned. After all, his cultivation had advanced rapidly enough, and he was still meticulously refining it using the Lamp Burning Art, so the timing of the Spirit Yuan Pills was not critical.
After all, his Primal Chaos True Qi still needed ten years to reach completion.
By his estimation, even without relying on elixirs, but solely on diligent cultivation with spiritual energy and spirit stones, he would still be able to perfect the Pure Yang Scroll's Golden Core by that time.
Furthermore, this would ensure the Pure Yang True Qi's quality was flawless.
"Coincidentally, the person dispatched to pick up Yan Shaoyin from Jinwu Immortal City has returned. Perhaps the Wind Spirit Vine has already reached Beiyuan City."
Chen Mobai was reminded of this matter when Qing Nv brought it up.
After the Big Dipper Conference concluded, Yan Shaoyin remained at the Star Heaven Dao Sect for some time, seemingly delayed. Only recently did he send word through the Star Heaven Grand Merchant Association that he had reached Jinwu Immortal City.
As his cultivation was essentially crippled, traversing the desolate ruins alone could be dangerous, so Chen Mobai dispatched members of the Five Elements Sect to escort him.
In fact, a slight delay would have been acceptable, as he could have then traveled with the main contingent of the Star Heaven Grand Merchant Association or awaited the return of Yue Zutao and others from the Five Elements Merchant Association.
However, Yan Shaoyin's message conveyed a sense of urgency, stating that an important matter required his swift return.
Although Chen Mobai found it curious, he realized Luo Xue'er was available within the sect and dispatched her to retrieve him.
Upon arriving in Beiyuan City, even before meeting Yan Shaoyin, Chen Mobai heard news from Luo Xue'er that made his expression turn grim.
"Sect Master, Elder Chu has suddenly disappeared without a trace," Luo Xue'er reported. "I inquired among those near the sect's shops, but no one had any information, only that he suddenly vanished one day."
Since Luo Xue'er was traveling to Jinwu Immortal City for the retrieval, Chen Mobai had naturally also instructed her to meet with Chu Zuochu to ascertain if he had secured the Wind Spirit Vine.
Chu Zuochu would certainly not disappear without reason.
Someone must have been behind it.
But who?
A rogue cultivator? A demonic cultivator?
Or...
Chen Mobai's previously cheerful mood was now cast under a shadow. However, as Chu Zuochu had been his former senior from the Divine Wood Sect and had shown him considerable care, his disappearance could certainly not be left unexplained.
The only certainty was that Chu Zuochu was not yet dead.
Dedicated personnel guarded the soul lamps at Jumuling, and had Chu Zuochu's lamp shattered, it would have been reported immediately.
This incident, however, reminded Chen Mobai of Fu Xingzhou, who had also been missing for a long time before ultimately dying at the hands of Kong Lingling, becoming a sacrifice for the birth of the Heavenly Demonic Sacred Fetus.
"Please invite Master Chef Shen from the Heavenly Feast Pavilion to speak with me."
The Five Elements Sect possessed virtually no intelligence network outside the Eastern Wasteland, so Chen Mobai's only recourse was to invite Shen Shanqing from the Heavenly Feast Pavilion, hoping to utilize his connections to locate Chu Zuochu.
"Sect Master, you wouldn't believe what happened after this Big Dipper Conference," Yan Shaoyin began, somewhat excitedly.
As Luo Xue'er went to invite Shen Shanqing, Chen Mobai received Yan Shaoyin, who had been waiting for some time. Upon seeing him, Yan Shaoyin excitedly bowed, then could not help but begin speaking.
"The Daoist Son and Saintess from the Grand Void Ethereal Palace were both present this time," he explained. "After consuming the Three Light Divine Water, they actually managed to successfully form their Nascent Souls right there within the Star Heaven Dao Sect. The final, climactic item was the Nether Ancient Grass, a ten-thousand-year-old spirit herb nearly reaching Sixth-Tier, which the Star Heaven Dao Sect harvested from a terrestrial evil spiritual point deep within the desolate ruins. It is the most crucial primary ingredient for refining the Rejuvenation Pill, and it is said that the Saintess of the Daoist Moral Sect ultimately acquired it. There was another major incident as well: the Sand Master of the Flying Sand Sect, after obtaining the Three Light Divine Water and departing, was pursued by a mysterious cultivator. A fierce battle ensued, culminating in Zuo Dongdu's tragic death. The Flying Sand Sect was utterly enraged; their Grand Elder, a perfected Nascent Soul cultivator, personally visited the Star Heaven Dao Sect. Subsequently, Venerable Star Cloud approached the Nascent Soul cultivators from the three major Sacred Lands, and together they investigated the site of Zuo Dongdu's demise. The conclusion reached was that a great demonic Nascent Soul cultivator was responsible for the act. The Eastern Li Demonic Path is far too rampant," he lamented. "No one knows which of the Eighteen Demonic Sects was responsible..."
Chen Mobai was greatly astonished by Yan Shaoyin's account.
He hadn't realized that by departing so early, he had missed such significant events.
One could only conclude that this generation of Sacred Land Daoists and Saintesses truly lived up to the Golden Age. It was likely that the two from the Grand Void Ethereal Palace could have formed their Nascent Souls much earlier but, for prudence, waited until after acquiring the Three Light Divine Water to attempt it.
If that was the case, Yuan Zhen, as the Saintess of the Nine Heavens Demon Eradication Sect, should also be able to successfully form her Nascent Soul on her first attempt, right?
With that thought, Chen Mobai's mind turned to the Daoist Moral Sect.
The Daoist Son of that Sacred Land was reportedly the first to achieve Nascent Soul formation, with talent and aptitude said to be no less than Ye Qing's.
As for the Saintess of the Daoist Moral Sect, she was even hailed as the future foremost alchemist of the Eastern Continent.
It was rumored that even during her Foundation Establishment stage, she had already deciphered an unprecedented elixir formula from the immortal texts and jade slips passed down through the Daoist Moral Sect.
All three major Sacred Lands were producing exceptional talents, yet the One Yuan Dao Palace alone had been in decline for over a century since being sealed off after its conflict with Revered Ming.
It seemed only he could eventually rescue it.
As these thoughts crossed his mind, Chen Mobai also recalled Zuo Dongdu, the Sand Master, dying at the hands of a demonic cultivator. He mused that if he truly were to go to the One Yuan Dao Palace and inherit the title of Daoist Son, while he would instantly become a prominent figure in the Eastern Continent, he would undoubtedly also draw the attention of the demonic path.
That seemed a bit too dangerous.
Perhaps it would be better not to go to the One Yuan Dao Palace just yet, and instead diligently cultivate and expand the sect's influence here in the Eastern Wasteland.
It would be more secure to first achieve God Transformation with the Pure Yang Scroll before receiving the One Yuan True Monarch's ascension secret art inheritance.
With his decision made, Chen Mobai abandoned his earlier notion of immediately seeking out the One Yuan Dao Palace in the Eastern Land after achieving Nascent Soul formation.
While the Eastern Wasteland's resources were somewhat limited, the surrounding Yunmeng Lake, Desolate Ruins, and neighboring Dongyi offered potential. If he could unify and gather resources from these areas, it should be sufficient to support his cultivation up to God Transformation.
As he was pondering this, Luo Xue'er entered, accompanied by Shen Shanqing from the Heavenly Feast Pavilion.
"Master Chef Shen, there's a matter I'd like to ask for your assistance with..."
Chen Mobai immediately relayed the news of Chu Zuochu's disappearance.
"Since Sect Master Chen has expressed this, I will certainly do my utmost," Shen Shanqing replied, nodding to indicate there would be no issue. He could not, however, guarantee results, as his connections in Dongyi were limited.
"By the way, since we're discussing some events from the Big Dipper Conference," Chen Mobai began, feeling it would be impolite to simply dismiss Shen Shanqing after their brief discussion, "does the Heavenly Feast Pavilion happen to know any of the inside details regarding the three major events Yan Shaoyin just mentioned?"
As expected, Shen Shanqing, hailing from the Eastern Land, indeed possessed insider knowledge unknown to Chen Mobai and others from the Eastern Wasteland.
"The Grand Void True King?"
Chen Mobai immediately sought clarification on this unfamiliar term.
"This was one of the great powers who, alongside the Water Mother, first opened up the Heavenly River Realm," Shen Shanqing explained. "It is said that the void forming the very foundation of this realm was created by him, after which all existence came into being. The Grand Void Ethereal Palace was specifically established to venerate him. Even on our Eastern Continent, several temples house his divine effigy."
Hearing this, Chen Mobai was filled with solemn reverence.
This sounded even more formidable than the Celestial Venerable of the Eternal Life Sect.
Truly a powerful sect from the Central Continent, boasting Sacred Land branches even in the Eastern Continent and recognized as the paramount superpower in the Heavenly River Realm.
However, this also reminded Chen Mobai of something else.
His Turtle Treasure, it seemed, had been acquired by his predecessor Liu Lingpei from a divine statue called the Grand Void True God. Could there be a connection between this and the Grand Void True King?
Could it possibly be him?
Would that not imply the Turtle Treasure might belong to the Grand Void Ethereal Palace?
With this thought, Chen Mobai resolved to keep a respectful distance from the Grand Void Ethereal Palace in the future, ideally remaining entirely out of their notice.
"The elixir formula the Saintess of the Daoist Moral Sect inherited from the immortal texts and jade slips was for the Rejuvenation Pill," Shen Shanqing continued. "It is said to extend one's lifespan by several sexagenary cycles. Consequently, the upper echelons of the Sacred Lands are all diligently gathering the necessary medicinal ingredients, eager to refine it."
A completely new longevity elixir held immense appeal for any cultivator, particularly the venerable ancestors of major sects.
After all, even God Transformation True Monarchs harbored a fear of aging and death.
However, Chen Mobai merely listened to this as an interesting anecdote, not taking it to heart.
He was still young, with a long lifespan ahead of him.
Should he achieve God Transformation in the future, the Immortal Sect's most prized Great Chinese Scholar Tree fruit would also be within his grasp.
Regarding the Daoist Moral Sect, Chen Mobai had only one concern: the Saint-Attaining True Spirit Pill, which could assist in God Transformation. When would they refine it, and could he acquire some?
However, to be involved in the allocation of such elixirs, the position of Five Elements Sect Master would likely not suffice.
The prestige of a Sacred Land, like the One Yuan Dao Palace, would still be necessary.
This thought left Chen Mobai in a quandary.
"As for Zuo Dongdu's death, while it was publicly attributed to a demonic cultivator, the truth uncovered by the actual investigation was quite different," Shen Shanqing said, piquing Chen Mobai's curiosity.
"Oh, what truth could compel the three major Sacred Lands and the Star Heaven Dao Sect to collude in concealing it?"
"Essentially all major powers in the Eastern Land are aware of this," Shen Shanqing explained. "The site where Zuo Dongdu died was covered in quicksand and chaotic Five Elements spiritual energy. Many cultivators, upon stepping into it, found their Five Elements spiritual power becoming uncontrollable and disordered. Only one divine ability in the entire Eastern Continent is capable of causing such a phenomenon."
At this point, Shen Shanqing paused, simply looking at Chen Mobai.
"Is this truly the case?" Chen Mobai asked, instantly grasping the unspoken implication and feeling a jolt of alarm.
"Our Heavenly Feast Pavilion headquarters also dispatched personnel to investigate personally," Shen Shanqing affirmed. "Although the information reached me much later, I can therefore guarantee that what I have is confirmed intelligence. While the Grand Elder of the Flying Sand Sect was furious, under the persuasion of the three major Sacred Lands, he could only swallow his anger and depart from the Eastern Wasteland."
"He just left?"
Chen Mobai was somewhat surprised. In his view, if a Nascent Soul cultivator from one's sect was killed, a thorough investigation should be launched, and at the very least, a visit to the One Yuan Dao Palace would be in order.
