"We've already discussed this topic, and my answer is still no," the Snow Maiden said, tilting her head slightly as she stared at him. "Are you humans always so indecisive?"
Zu An was speechless.
He really didn't know what to say now. Thinking back to the two recent battles, though the Snow Maiden was severely injured, she wasn't completely without combat ability; he had even relied on her help to kill Iron Fist Locke.
So, he stopped trying to persuade her and instead took out his Heavenly Cloud Sword and Nine-Chi Mirror. He wasn't sure which of the two items was meant to reinforce the seal on this snowy mountain.
Fortunately, not long after he took them out, the snowy mountain seemed to react, and the Nine-Chi Mirror in his hand lit up.
It was then drawn by an invisible force, flying directly above the snowy mountain.
The Nine-Chi Mirror emitted a gentle light that enveloped the entire snowy mountain. The mountain, which had been covered in huge cracks and collapses from Iron Fist Locke's continuous bombardment, began to mend at a visible rate under this light. Streaks of light appeared on both sides of the cracks, and an invisible force restored them. Just as the last crack was about to seal, the Nine-Chi Mirror automatically flew towards it, entering the mountain's core like the Soul-Hooking Jade before it.
Mysterious runes lit up all over the snowy mountain, similar to the previous one, exuding a sense of sacredness.
Zu An keenly sensed an invisible wave spreading out.
The Snow Maiden spoke, "I've been feeling quite restless lately, but now my mind seems much calmer."
Zu An glanced at her, thinking, *Could this woman be the embodiment of the Great Snowy Mountain?*
Having taken care of two snowy mountains, Zu An didn't dare to delay and set off with the Snow Maiden towards the third.
"Do you remember when you came to this snowy mountain?" Zu An asked tentatively along the way.
The Snow Maiden shook her head slightly. "I only remember 'a very, very long time ago,' but I don't remember the exact date. Actually, for long-lived beings like us, time sometimes doesn't hold much meaning."
Zu An was speechless. Was this woman humblebragging? Many powerful humans had sacrificed everything for eternal life, only to gain nothing, yet these immortal beings seemed to feel nothing about it.
"So, did you come first, and then the Great Snowy Mountain appeared, or did the Great Snowy Mountain exist first, and then you appeared, or did you both emerge at the same time?" Zu An tried to understand the Snow Maiden's origin.
The Snow Maiden seemed unaware of his probing and instinctively replied, "The Great Snowy Mountain probably came first, and I came later..."
"Probably?" Zu An was startled.
"Didn't I tell you before? I can't remember many past memories," the Snow Maiden said, covering her forehead as if in slight pain.
"Then don't try to remember," Zu An quickly said, feeling a pang of heartache seeing her discomfort.
He immediately gave a self-deprecating smile, realizing he truly had a soft spot for pretty women.
While chatting, the two quickly arrived near the third snowy mountain and couldn't help but squint their eyes.
It was simply too dazzling. Their first reaction was that two suns had appeared in the sky, before they realized it was the light entity standing atop the snowy mountain. Its emitted light was even brighter than the actual sun, especially since the Great Snowy Mountain's location meant natural sunlight wasn't very strong.
"Since you've managed to come here, it seems those other fools have all been killed by you," a voice came from within the orb of light.
Zu An pulled the Snow Maiden behind a slope. "You don't seem surprised at all, Your Excellency?"
The Thorny Bone Dragon had mentioned that anyone seen by it would... Although he didn't know what would happen, it clearly wasn't good, so he took precautions beforehand to avoid being caught off guard.
"Why should I be surprised? Although those fellows had some abilities, their intelligence was lacking. They say the little bone dragon's brain is only the size of a walnut, but I think the other two weren't much bigger," the light entity's voice was cold, as if those who died were not its companions.
"It seems you've learned some information about me from them," the light entity said with interest, noticing Zu An hiding behind the slope and avoiding direct confrontation.
"You don't even care about their lives or deaths, so why would they be loyal to you? Of course, they'd reveal all your secrets," Zu An deliberately said this, trying to bluff it.
"I doubt it," the light entity chuckled. "Leaving aside the restrictions I placed within their bodies, even if you did manage to get information from them, you should have pretended not to know, instead of saying it so deliberately... Hmm, let me think. You must have learned a bit of information, but not completely, which is why you're deliberately probing, trying to get some hints from me."
Zu An sighed, "It seems you are indeed smarter than those other fellows."
"Although those fellows were foolish, they still had strength. Even the Snow Maiden shouldn't have been able to kill them. This weak world has someone with such ability..." The light entity paused. "You must be the human who killed the War Priest, the Mother of Fetus Demon, and the Master of Death, right?"
Zu An was somewhat surprised. "Now I truly admire you; you've deduced so much information from just a few words."
"You are indeed a talent, and I appreciate such talents," the light entity said after a moment's thought. "How about this: I'll give you another chance. Join me, and I can spare your life and the lives of your close friends and family. You can also conquer even vaster worlds with us. I happen to be in need of someone as intelligent as you."
"Just now I praised you for being smart, but I didn't expect you to become foolish so quickly. I already refused your previous recruitment offer, so why come with such an insincere one again?" Zu An sneered. "Speaking of which, you're clearly at an absolute disadvantage now. I've already reinforced two other seals, and as soon as I deal with this one, I can completely seal away you demons. I don't know where you get the confidence to try and recruit me."
The light entity chuckled softly. "It seems you're the one who hasn't grasped the situation. Originally, due to the world barrier, we intended to lie low for a decade or two, slowly infiltrate your world and accumulate strength, then attack from both inside and out. But who would have thought that an ambitious demon prince in your world would actively cooperate with us, helping us loosen the seal and allowing me to enter this world? From that moment on, you were destined to lose."
Zu An frowned; this fellow was being extremely arrogant.
The light entity continued, "Do you know why, even though I clearly sensed the changes in the other two sealing nails, I never went to help those fools?"
"Why?" This time, it was the Snow Maiden who spoke.
"Because as long as I firmly hold this sealing nail, you would eventually come here. I just needed to deal with you, and then re-refine the other two sealing nails, wouldn't I? If I had left, and you happened to arrive, wouldn't I have fallen for your trick of luring the tiger out of its mountain lair?" the light entity replied as if stating the obvious.
Zu An was speechless.
"You're being overly confident, Your Excellency."
The light entity sighed, "When you've conquered countless worlds and then come to such a low-level one, it's hard not to be confident."
"The snowy mountain can't hold on much longer," the Snow Maiden said, her brows furrowed. She could clearly feel the mountain groaning and could no longer bear it, so she flicked her sleeve, sending a raging blizzard sweeping from the base to the summit.
At that moment, a light suddenly flared on the mountaintop, and the roaring, swirling blizzard seemed to freeze in place.
The light entity's voice came again, "I have traveled through countless worlds and have indeed encountered Snow Maidens in some, but you are different from them. You are neither truly human nor truly monstrous. What kind of being are you, exactly?"
