Both of their expressions changed slightly. If they had been hit by that beam of light, they would likely have lost half their lives, even if they survived.
"Oh, you actually dodged that. That last move was quite interesting," the silhouette remarked, its eyes still fixed on them.
After the Snow Maiden brought Zu An to this spot, he escaped the silhouette's gaze and his body regained its mobility. Seeing the entity's movements, he wasted no time. He immediately pulled the Snow Maiden and teleported to another location.
"Its speed surpassed my movements. Hmm, it must be some kind of teleportation skill," the silhouette said, a hint of surprise in its voice. "I didn't expect such a skill to exist in this low-level world; it's quite illogical."
Zu An did not reply. Instead, he pondered how to defeat it. Even the powerful sword formation earlier had failed to harm it, and the space and time around the silhouette seemed to be distorted. He doubted any of his remaining trump cards could inflict damage.
He knew he had only one chance; he needed to be certain before acting, to prevent the entity from becoming wary.
Just then, the silhouette looked at them both again. This time, the Snow Maiden instinctively moved in a different direction from Zu An, hoping to divide the entity's attention and make it difficult for it to focus on one target.
Zu An possessed teleportation abilities, while the Snow Maiden could transform herself into wind and snow. The Great Snow Mountain had an abundance of both, making the Snow Maiden's movements harder to track. In contrast, Zu An's movements were easier to pinpoint.
As expected, the silhouette did not pursue the Snow Maiden but kept its gaze solely on Zu An.
Fortunately, Zu An could now use his Gale skill at will, and Meixi's ability periodically helped him reduce skill cooldowns. Coupled with his increased cultivation, which made him faster, he was barely able to cope.
As time went on, Zu An felt increasingly at ease, secretly sighing in relief. Although the entity's skill was formidable, as long as he remained vigilant and avoided its direct gaze, he could manage.
He seized an opportunity, instantly teleporting to the silhouette's side. Drawing the Tai'a Sword, he unleashed the Domain of Might, launching an attack.
The silhouette's form trembled slightly, clearly affected by the Tai'a Sword's Domain of Might.
As anticipated, Zu An's sword stopped three inches from the silhouette and could not advance any further.
By this time, the silhouette had recovered and turned its head directly towards him.
Zu An had anticipated this reaction and instantly teleported thousands of meters away to another spot.
He knew, of course, that the previous sword strike was unlikely to harm the entity; he had only used it to gauge its defenses up close. As he suspected, while visually the sword appeared to stop three inches away, the actual sensation when striking was that the target was infinitely distant.
"Your sword seems quite special. Even across the myriad realms of the universe, it would be considered a decent weapon," the silhouette remarked, looking at the Tai'a Sword in Zu An's hand with a tone of considerable praise. Clearly, that last attempt had surprised it somewhat.
"Just 'decent'…?" Zu An noted the entity's choice of words. The Tai'a Sword was considered a divine artifact in this world, indicating just how vast the myriad realms of the universe truly were.
"You cannot defeat me. Surrender now and cease your meaningless struggle," the silhouette's voice echoed once more.
"You can't catch me either, can you? You talk as if everything is under your control," Zu An retorted scornfully, teleporting away to evade its gaze.
"I was merely gauging your abilities. Do you truly believe I have no way of dealing with you?" the silhouette asked, looking at Zu An again.
Zu An was about to teleport away when he suddenly heard the entity swiftly declare, "This move will hit."
Zu An froze. Despite clearly having teleported away, the gaze still landed on him, instantly rendering him rigid and unable to move.
Zu An was speechless.
What kind of ability was this? A "Word Spirit" skill?
If whatever it declared simply became reality, how could he possibly fight?
He himself possessed similar abilities, like 'Key, come!', but they typically demanded a hefty price. This entity, however, seemed to conjure them effortlessly.
"Do you regret it now? Unfortunately, it's too late," the silhouette sneered, seemingly relishing the sight of its enemy's expression in that moment.
To prevent the Snow Maiden from rescuing him again, the silhouette waved its hand, and countless rays of light enveloped Zu An's direction. If the Snow Maiden dared to approach, they would both perish.
As expected, a swirl of wind and snow dissipated nearby, revealing the Snow Maiden's true form. Her face was filled with anxiety, but she found herself unable to pierce through the layer of light, utterly helpless to intervene.
The silhouette paid her no mind. In its eyes, though the Snow Maiden was powerful, she remained well within its control, posing far less of a threat than Zu An. Without hesitation, it moved to deliver a killing blow to Zu An.
Witnessing the destructive beam of light shoot directly towards Zu An, the Snow Maiden felt a surge of despair. She had just seen the immense power of that light, and it seemed Zu An's fate was sealed.
Just then, her vision blurred. Zu An's figure vanished, and in his place stood the silhouette, precisely where Zu An had been moments before.
The silhouette also appeared startled, clearly not having anticipated this sudden turn of events. Before it could react, the destructive beam it had just unleashed struck its own form.
A dazzling orb of light erupted in the area. The Snow Maiden instinctively shielded her eyes. After a prolonged moment, the light finally dimmed, and she quickly looked back at the scene.
The silhouette remained standing, not destroyed by the devastating light. However, it was not unscathed; the light around its form had noticeably dimmed. Now, its interior was clearly visible: a black, humanoid entity with eyes, but no other facial features.
Its body's outline seemed to ripple like burning black flames.
It appeared less like a humanoid creature and more like an energy life form.
"Shift and Shadow? Even I couldn't resist that. This is a top-tier divine skill even among the myriad realms of the universe. I never expected to discover it in this world," the silhouette exclaimed. Despite its injuries, its voice conveyed more excitement than pain.
Standing at a distance, Zu An's brows were tightly furrowed. He had, in fact, meticulously planned that last maneuver, constantly provoking the entity to unleash its most powerful attack, even using himself as bait. He was surprised that even using its own spear against its own shield had proven ineffective.
"I can't bring myself to kill you now. I'll have to imprison your soul and slowly extract these skills from you," the silhouette declared excitedly, clearly thrilled by such an unexpected discovery in this world.
"It's not yet decided who will kill whom," Zu An scoffed, his form moving like lightning, continuously flashing around the silhouette, relentlessly searching for a weakness.
Every skill had a counter. He refused to believe this silhouette was without weakness; the laws of the universe would not permit such an invincible existence.
The challenge now was to pinpoint its weakness.
Seeing Zu An flash around with incredible speed, the silhouette's tone became somewhat mocking: "It's useless. Such evasion is futile before me. This move will certai—"
Mid-sentence, it suddenly heard Zu An say, "What are you looking at?"
"What about it?!"
The moment the words left its mouth, the silhouette froze. It had never imagined it would say such a thing; it was entirely unintentional.
Fortunately, with its vast experience, it quickly regained its composure and exclaimed, "You possess a Word Spirit technique?!"
Its voice was filled with shock. This individual had presented too many surprises. While his inherent strength might not be weak in this world, it was utterly unremarkable in the grand scheme of the universe's myriad realms. The entity had encountered countless beings far more powerful than him in the past.
Were it not for the influence of this world's barrier, any random subordinate of its own would possess greater strength.
Yet, the skills this individual exhibited were successively more astounding, even sparking a sense of covetousness within the entity.
Seeing the entity fall for the trick, Zu An finally relaxed. The Keyboard System's products were, as expected, reliable.
He had initially thought the phrase "What are you looking at?" was nonsensical, but now it appeared to be the perfect counter to Word Spirit skills.
As long as the opponent attempted to speak, they would be interrupted by "What are you looking at?", rendering them unable to activate their Word Spirit abilities.
