Two hundred thousand years had passed.
The Immortal Chaos Tomb was a continuous expanse of verdant, rolling mountains. Deep within them, a massive ball of silver lightning shot skyward, shaking the earth and filling the air with dust and smoke.
In the depths of the mountains lay a massive, smoke-billowing crater. Lei stood within it, his body covered in blood. A black iron chain pierced through Fang Xiong's abdomen. Lei was currently at the mid-stage of the Grand Luo Golden Immortal realm, having undergone four evolutions.
When the eight major tribes, including the Tumult King Tribe, attacked the Qilin clan, the Hunxie King Tribe dispatched reinforcements. Lei, then only a Taiyi Golden Immortal, was among those sent to assist. His significant contributions earned him the privilege of entering the Mother Tower for a ritual, where he successfully underwent his fourth evolution and later advanced to the Grand Luo Golden Immortal realm. While exploring the Immortal Chaos Tomb for treasure with other Grand Luo Golden Immortals, Lei unexpectedly encountered a Grand Luo Golden Immortal from Kunlun Dao Ancestor's lineage. A fierce battle ensued; one opponent escaped, but Fang Xiong was captured.
“Why did the Kunlun Dao Ancestor send you into the Immortal Chaos Tomb?” Lei asked, tugging the black chain.
“If you wish to kill me, then do so. Spare me your idle chatter,” Fang Xiong replied with a cold expression.
“How could I bear to kill you? Perhaps my future lies with you. I hope you were indeed on a significant mission,” Lei said. He then bound Fang Xiong to his back and departed.
Meanwhile, on Kunlun Immortal Island, inside Kunlun Hall. The Kunlun Dao Ancestor sat on the main seat, holding a black blade about a foot long. The blade had no hilt and its surface was covered in cracks. Fairy Longyue, her face pale and her right arm missing, was reporting to the Kunlun Dao Ancestor.
“You have all endured much this time,” the Kunlun Dao Ancestor stated. “As for Fang Xiong and the others, I will revive them using the Legacy Roster.” Among the three fragments of Dao artifacts, this particular one was quite large and could be utilized. While its power couldn't compare to a complete Dao artifact, it was significantly stronger than a top-grade immortal artifact.
Just then, Xue Yan entered, her expression panicked. “Grand-master,” Xue Yan exclaimed, “Master and the others are in trouble! They encountered a Ten-Colored Chaos Beast from the Ordos Tribe. That Dao artifact fragment was seized by the beast, and Master and everyone else perished. We only learned of this because their golden effigies in the Legacy Roster sent a report.”
“How large was that Dao artifact fragment?” the Kunlun Dao Ancestor inquired. Immortal Lord Yu Lei was not weak, but he hadn't cultivated a top-tier immortal body, so he couldn't defeat the Ten-Colored Chaos Beast. Fortunately, they could be revived using the Legacy Roster.
“It was a hilt, with a portion of the blade attached,” Xue Yan replied.
“What a pity,” the Kunlun Dao Ancestor sighed. “Never mind. Even obtaining a single Dao artifact fragment is worthwhile. Strengthen our defenses and be vigilant against Chaos Beast attacks.”
“Yes, Master (Grand-master),” Fairy Longyue and Xue Yan assented, then turned and departed.
The Kunlun Dao Ancestor gazed at the black blade in his hand and murmured to himself, “When will I acquire a complete Acquired Dao Artifact, rather than just fragments?” The Ancestral Dragon's power was immense; aside from cultivating a Dao Body, his Dao artifact, the Sky Dragon Blade, was also a major contributing factor.
In the Hunxie Royal City, Xiang sat on the main throne. Lei was reporting to Xiang, having rushed back to Hunxie Royal City as quickly as possible to hand Fang Xiong over to Kun for disposal. Fang Xiong's magical power was sealed. By destroying his physical body, a Pseudo Immortal could then use treasures or grand formations to interrogate his Nascent Soul.
Kun flew in and reported, “Old Ancestor, the Kunlun Dao Ancestor’s disciples are searching for fragments of the Ten Directions Dao Ancestor’s Ten Directions Soul Extinguishing Blade. The fragment Fairy Longyue retrieved is indeed part of that blade; it can be used as an immortal artifact and its power is certainly greater than a top-grade immortal artifact.”
All interrogation artifacts collected by the Hunxie Royal Tribe were given to Pseudo Immortals, who assisted the Chaos Beasts in interrogating high-level immortals. They had destroyed Fang Xiong’s physical body and allowed the Pseudo Immortals to use interrogation artifacts to question his Nascent Soul, quickly uncovering the full story.
“A Dao artifact fragment!” Xiang’s eyes lit up. The Ten Directions Mother-Child Tower had specifically ordered the Chaos Beasts to seek out Dao artifact fragments.
“Haha, Lei, you have rendered a great service this time!” Xiang declared. “Immediately summon the leaders of all subordinate tribes to Hunxie Royal City for a meeting. We will discuss an assault on Kunlun Immortal City. This time, I intend to sweep clean the entire Kunlun Immortal Island in one fell swoop!”
The Hunxie Royal Tribe currently boasted two Dao Ancestors, including a Nine-Colored Chaos Beast and a Ten-Colored Chaos Beast, making it immensely powerful. Seizing this Dao artifact fragment and presenting it to the Ten Directions Mother-Child Tower would undoubtedly bring great rewards, perhaps even enabling him to cultivate a Chaos Body.
“Yes, Lord Xiang,” Kun replied, accepting the order, then turned and departed.
In the central region of the Chaos Continent, a towering black obelisk, pulsating with dark light, stood majestically in the center of a vast bluestone plaza. Hai stood beside the colossal tower, his gaze fixed upon it.
After a moment, a booming, heaven-shaking laugh echoed forth. Chen flew out from within the tower, bowed respectfully towards the Mother Tower, and gratefully declared, “Thank you, Lord Teng.”
One of Chen’s descendants, a Ten-Colored Chaos Beast, had ventured into the Myriad Devil’s Tomb in search of treasure. There, it encountered Immortal Lord Yu Lei and several other Grand Luo Golden Immortals. After eliminating Immortal Lord Yu Lei and his companions, the descendant obtained a Dao artifact fragment, which it presented to the Ten Directions Mother-Child Tower. This allowed Chen to enter the Mother Tower for a ritual, where the Mother Tower empowered him, helping him cultivate a Chaos Body capable of rivaling a Dao Body.
Previously, Chen’s physical body, though powerful, was far inferior to a Dao Body. During the last Immortal-Chaos War, when Chen led two Dao Ancestors against the Ancestral Dragon, they were thoroughly suppressed. Now that Chen had cultivated a Chaos Body, he feared no one, not even the Ancestral Dragon, in a one-on-one physical combat.
“Now that you have cultivated a Chaos Body, you can attempt to establish a second fundamental law,” Teng Xiao’s voice resonated. “If you succeed, your power will increase further, allowing you to confront the Ancestral Dragon alone.”
“Yes, Lord Teng,” Chen replied.
“Hai,” Teng Xiao instructed, “continue sending people to search for Dao artifact fragments. With just three more fragments of comparable size, I will be fully recovered.”
“Yes, Lord Teng,” Hai affirmed, his mind filled with shock. He was utterly astonished that the Ten Directions Mother-Child Tower’s injuries were so severe that it required three more substantial Dao artifact fragments to fully heal.
“Is there still no news of that fellow?” Teng Xiao inquired. “If I could devour it, I would not only recover completely but also grow stronger. Facing those three entities again, I would then be free to dispatch several Sub-Towers to assist you.” The Qiankun Pagoda, the Hongmeng Roster, and the One-Word Palace were formidable. During every Immortal-Chaos War, Teng Xiao required the assistance of nine Sub-Towers to suppress these three Dao artifacts.
“Not yet,” Hai responded. “We have already increased our search parties. Once it is located, Lord Teng will be immediately notified.”
“Very well,” Teng Xiao said. “If it cannot be found, other Dao artifacts or Dao artifact fragments will suffice.”
“Yes, Lord Teng,” Hai agreed.
“Lord Teng, I shall take my leave now,” Chen stated. “I will strive to establish a new fundamental law as soon as possible.” With that, Chen departed.
