Somewhere in the Immortal Realm, a vast, boundless sea stretched out under a clear sky, with the wind blowing in gentle gusts.
Two streaks of light appeared in the distant sky, then flashed and stopped, revealing the figures of Wu Nianshan and Wu Nianfeng.
Wu Nianfeng flipped his right hand, and a square blue token appeared in his palm. When he infused it with immortal energy, the token emitted a dazzling blue light, shooting a beam that disappeared into a void.
The void rippled, revealing a gap about a zhang (approximately three meters) wide.
Wu Nianshan and Wu Nianfeng flew into the gap, which then closed behind them.
From their vantage point high in the sky, Wu Nianshan and Wu Nianfeng could see an immense island below, where mountain peaks vied for splendor and ancient trees towered.
"We're finally back," Wu Nianfeng said, "but it's a shame we couldn't get our hands on that immortal vine."
"There was nothing we could do," Wu Nianshan added, a look of disbelief on his face. "Who would have thought that a Grand Unity Golden Immortal from the Dao Clan Wang Family would be there? Their Ten-Orifice Secret Method allows cultivators below the Grand Luo Golden Immortal stage to fuse laws."
"Whatever you have to say, report it when you're back," a dignified male voice from the island boomed.
Wu Nianshan and Wu Nianfeng acknowledged the command and transformed into two streaks of light, soaring towards the massive island.
Soon, they arrived at a sprawling estate, where a rosy-faced elder in a green robe sat on a green stone stool.
They were respectfully reporting to the elder.
"The Dao Clan Wang Family! Law fusion... No wonder the Wang Family has achieved significant victories in both Immortal Chaos Wars. Were you followed on your way back?" the green-robed elder asked.
"Ancestor Yilin, we checked repeatedly and were very careful," Wu Nianshan replied. "There was no one tailing us. It's just a shame we made the trip for nothing."
Wu Yilin nodded. "It's best that you weren't followed. And this trip wasn't entirely in vain; we might have dealings with the Wang Family in the future, so it's good that you've gotten to know some of their core disciples."
"Ancestor Yilin," Wu Nianshan asked curiously, "our family has been reclusive for hundreds of millions of years. Do we still need to remain hidden?"
"There are benefits to remaining hidden," Wu Yilin explained. "The Wang Family and even the True Dragon Clan are merely overt powers; many forces are stronger than them. Our Old Ancestor has yet to complete their rebirth. Once the Old Ancestor returns to us, perhaps we won't need to hide anymore."
Just then, a loud alarm blared, echoing across the entire island.
"This is bad," Wu Yilin exclaimed, his expression changing. "A powerful enemy is approaching."
Outside the massive island, Yang Feng stood high in the sky. His aura was unfathomable, indicating he had already ascended to the Dao Ancestor realm.
"Yueying, Yuexue, are you not here?" Yang Feng's voice, though not loud, resonated for billions of miles around. "I have returned."
The void before him rippled, opening into a massive void from which a shapely woman in a golden dress and a tall, slender man in a green robe emerged. Their auras indicated they were both Dao Ancestors.
"Who are you?" the woman in the golden dress asked, puzzled.
"Yueying, have you forgotten the Dao Soldier Tree we planted together?" Yang Feng asked softly, a look of reminiscence on his face. "It's me, Wu Santong."
"Old Ancestor! Is it really you?" Wu Yueying exclaimed, her expression agitated.
"It's me, Wu Santong, the Old Ancestor of the Dao Clan Wu Family," Wu Santong said, enunciating each word. "I have returned. The treasure I placed under the third floorboard of the ancestral hall is still there, isn't it?"
"Welcome home, Old Ancestor."
Wu Yueying and the man in the green robe bowed deeply, then made a welcoming gesture.
Wu Santong nodded and flew into the void. Wu Yueying and the man in the green robe followed, and the void closed behind them.
In a secluded estate, Wu Santong, Wu Yueying, and the man in the green robe sat in a green stone pavilion, with Wu Yilin standing nearby.
"Old Ancestor," Wu Yueying asked curiously, "where have you been all these years? Why are you only returning now?"
"It's not that easy to achieve rebirth," Wu Santong replied. "I was born in a small family in a minor realm within the Eastern Profound Continent Cluster, and my name was Yang Feng. After finally ascending to the Immortal Realm, I found myself in the territory of the Dao Clan Wang Family. I cultivated until I reached the Grand Luo Golden Immortal stage before I began searching for the contingency plans I had laid out. I then used the resources from one of these plans to advance to Dao Ancestor. Strictly speaking, I am no longer your original Old Ancestor; I have simply inherited his memories."
"To us, you *are* our Old Ancestor," Wu Yueying stated firmly.
"The Dao Clan Wang Family?" Wu Yilin interjected. "Our clansmen just had dealings with some of their core members."
"What happened? Yilin, explain it in detail," Wu Yueying instructed.
Wu Yilin nodded and recounted the events in detail.
"I see," Wu Yueying said. "So, this time, we owe much to the Wang Family."
"Since you acknowledge me as your Old Ancestor," Wu Santong said, "I'd like to know how many Dao Ancestors our Wu Family currently has."
"Including you, Old Ancestor, our Wu Family has seven Dao Ancestors," Wu Yueying explained excitedly. "Ancestor Yuying has the highest cultivation at the mid-Dao Ancestor stage, having comprehended five Fundamental Laws. Following your orders, our Wu Family has remained secluded, and we have finally awaited your return!"
Wu Santong nodded and instructed, "Send someone to contact the Wang Family and inform Fellow Daoist Wang about my situation. Tell them not to send anyone to look for me anymore. Send them a batch of fifth-grade immortal materials as a token of my gratitude. Without the Wang Family's protection, I might not have been able to smoothly cultivate to the Grand Luo Golden Immortal stage. Most of the contingency plans I left behind were discovered. Fortunately, one wasn't, which allowed me to quickly advance to Dao Ancestor."
"Yes, Old Ancestor," Wu Yueying acknowledged.
On the Chaos Continent, at Green Lotus Immortal Island.
On Shenji Peak, Wang Qingfeng, Wang Yixin, Wang Yier, and Wang Yunyue sat in a green stone pavilion, sipping tea and chatting. Wang Qingfeng held a green storage bracelet in his hand.
"Including this, we've now discovered three contingency plans left by Dao Ancestor Fuyue," Wang Qingfeng said with a smile. "Two are in the Immortal Realm, and one is in the Xuanyang Realm."
The Treasure Hunting Hall had discovered an ancient cultivator's grotto-heaven in the Mi Luo Immortal Domain. The restrictions were incredibly potent, requiring Wang Yier and several Grand Luo Golden Immortals to join forces to break through them. They had obtained over three thousand fifth-grade immortal materials, suitable for alchemy, talisman crafting, artifact refining, and formation setup.
"Indeed!" Wang Yier remarked. "We don't know if Dao Ancestor Fuyue achieved rebirth. It's quite a coincidence that Ling Yin was passing through that area."
"I had sent her to the Mi Luo Immortal Domain for a task," Wang Yixin explained. "Perhaps someone discovered the outer restrictions you set up, and she rushed there after receiving the news."
Wang Yier nodded. "That's certainly plausible. By the way, has she returned yet?"
"No, not yet," Wang Yixin replied. "By the way, Ancestor Qingfeng, can that mutated Primordial Spirit Treasure be upgraded to a Dao Artifact?"
Among the three thousand-plus fifth-grade immortal materials were also five mutated Primordial Spirit Treasures, one of which was a top-grade Immortal Extermination Cannon.
"It's hard to say," Wang Qingfeng replied. "This treasure seems to be a mutated Primordial Spirit Treasure that accidentally merged with an Immortal Extermination Cannon, which is why it's so unique. My artifact refining skills aren't as good as Father's, so it's better to leave it for him to handle. I'll stick to refining Dao Artifacts with fifth-grade materials."
"Heh heh," Wang Yier chuckled. "If this treasure can be transformed into a Dao Artifact, it would be a formidable weapon, highly effective against Chaos Beasts that have only comprehended a single Fundamental Law."
"Let's hope so. Your Treasure Hunting Hall has done well this time. Keep up the excellent work and strive for new achievements. Pay close attention to any ancient Immortal Court relics and ruins, and report any findings immediately."
"Yes, Ancestor Qingfeng," Wang Yier agreed.
After a few more instructions, Wang Qingfeng dismissed them. He then entered a secret chamber to begin refining Dao Artifacts.
