Chapter
"What happened?"
Caroline was still examining the ancient murals in the tomb.
The elemental civilization depicted was exceptionally peculiar, with a variety of styles. Its houses, streets, and furnishings were all crafted from crystal and diamond, glistening like glass. This was natural, given that the white dwarf star itself was a colossal diamond planet.
"Nothing happened," Emperor Qi replied with a smile, turning his gaze to a tree. "I was just fascinated by the biological structures and forms here; they are quite interesting."
"Indeed, it's very interesting. These elemental trees are stunningly beautiful; even the plants are elementalized..." Caroline paid him no mind; their relationship was purely cooperative. She casually picked up a broken branch from a crystal tree, which also contained a rudimentary elemental core.
However, it was very weak, barely even a second-tier element. For enlightened beings who could enter this place, it held no value for collection.
The two titans conversed calmly.
Caroline continued her research. But Emperor Qi, standing behind her, grew increasingly solemn. "That sensation is growing stronger... How could there be a bloodline of my clan in the depths?"
Emperor Qi was utterly perplexed, finding it incredibly hard to believe. "My clan is not some heaven-defying race; our bloodline and genes are not strong. We don't possess the spatial bloodline of the ancient humans, nor the power of Caroline's formidable entire clan, nor the mysterious Demon Core clan. We inherently lack powerful genetic talents..."
Emperor Qi's true form was a Golden Crow. His clan was one of the Innate Ancient Gods. Their bloodline was, frankly, ordinary... far inferior to other powerful races. Yet, a bloodline connection to his own clan had appeared in this ancient ruin, which was truly bizarre.
He couldn't help but contact his wife, Ruyun, the Moon God, one of the thirteen great Innate Ancient Gods of old.
Within his inner space.
"You found the aura of our clan's bloodline?" Ruyun was equally shocked. As the former Moon God, her aptitude was naturally excellent, and with Emperor Qi's full guidance, she had already progressed a considerable distance on the path to the ninth tier.
Ruyun couldn't help but ask, "Deep within the ruins of that ancient elemental civilization, is there truly the aura of our bloodline and race?"
The mere presence of living beings in the ruins of an ancient civilization was already strange, let alone their own kin. It had been so many years since the creation of the world; all thirteen Innate Ancient Gods from that era had long since perished! Only the two of them had survived into the current age.
Emperor Qi frowned and said, "A biological race capable of surviving in these ruins? We've encountered survivors of the elemental civilization before; they were very weak and fled upon seeing us... Now, it seems our own kin are also living in these ruins. Could they be a special branch of the elemental race?"
This was a terrifying, even incredibly bizarre piece of news. Could they be elemental beings? Or, perhaps, their mother, the Dao Lord, the progenitor who created heaven and earth back then... was actually a member of the elemental race?
Emperor Qi pondered for a long time before saying to Ruyun, "It's not impossible! If you think carefully, our clan is naturally covered in energy flames, forming a thick energetic aura around us from birth... Ordinary flesh-and-blood creatures are usually covered in feathers or scales. How could we naturally be wrapped in a layer of constantly burning energy flames?"
The more he considered it, the more unsettling it became. "All thirteen Ancient Gods, including the nine Solar Golden Crows, are like this... You are, too, and so are Dafeng and Yun. Their bodies are all enveloped in a layer of energy. As Innate Ancient Gods, who preside over the order of heaven and earth—sunlight, wind and fire, moonlight, clouds and mist—our bodies glow, naturally surrounded by energy, somewhat resembling elemental beings."
In reality, having inherited the Phoenix bloodline, they naturally possessed a surrounding layer of energy flames, just like the Phoenix. However, the Phoenix's true form was a flesh-and-blood creature. While not a pure energy elemental being, the Phoenix did possess the talent to control "energy elements" and could cover itself with an elemental outer layer, making it somewhat of a semi-elemental being.
Later, as the Phoenix evolved and its bloodline became increasingly perfected and extraordinary, its energy cloak transformed into a white-gold hue, and its flame control broadened into general energy manipulation... It could indeed be considered a true semi-elemental being.
However, the Phoenix's inherent racial life structure was unique from the beginning, mimicking no one. It was fundamentally distinct from pure elemental energy beings. Its core genetic makeup was still that of a carbon-based, flesh-and-blood creature, merely enveloped by a vast, dense elemental cloak.
Yet, at this moment, Emperor Qi still found it inconceivable, pacing back and forth.
"Based on the information you've gathered from this civilization's ruins, we are still completely different from these elemental beings!" Ruyun, being very intelligent, quickly analyzed. "We Innate Ancient Gods possess true flesh-and-blood bodies, even if we are enveloped by energy flames... but there's a qualitative difference. They are true elements, completely formless."
Emperor Qi agreed, "But our clan does indeed possess characteristics similar to elemental beings... Could we be semi-elemental beings!?"
Semi-elemental?
But upon realizing this, they exchanged glances, completely stunned!
The enemy's civilization, the Lunar God Season... semi-elemental beings. It was said that they were a mysterious civilization with a vast number of semi-elemental creatures! And they, too, were semi-elemental beings... Could it really be such a coincidence?
"The bloodlines of both sides are so similar; there's almost no possibility of coincidence..." Emperor Qi murmured, a preposterous idea forming in his mind. "Could it be that there's a deep blood relationship, and our clan actually originated from..."
He immediately suppressed the thought. The idea was too terrifying. It would completely overturn his position and beliefs!
But once the thought emerged, it became somewhat uncontrollable. After all, their civilizations were at war, and their own bloodline seemed strikingly similar to the opponent's transcendent system...
He took a deep breath. He had to clarify everything. Looking at Ruyun, he said, "If before this was merely a simple exploration for ancient ruins and opportunities, now, I must venture into the depths of these ruins. It appears our clan is not as simple as we thought! Our bloodline might hold a great secret. When the Dao Lord descended upon the Primeval World and created heaven and earth back then, there must have been a profound reason behind it. I must seek out the truth and understand the cause and effect!"
Ruyun nodded, her face solemn, and softly said, "We must uncover the truth, not for anyone else, but for ourselves. When we returned to the Primeval World, our mother, the Dao Lord, had already disappeared without a trace... Perhaps, if we could meet her..."
Both their expressions were unsettled. Discovering a bloodline aura similar to their own in these ruins was simply too bizarre.
Meanwhile, in the ruin.
Caroline examined the tree, then looked at Emperor Qi. "Let's continue further in."
"Good. We must go deeper and observe the characteristics of this ancient ruin," Emperor Qi said with a smile, not intending to share this bizarre discovery with Caroline. Caroline was a staunch supporter of the Ultra Ancient Gods. Even a mere possibility or speculation... if she were to know, it would cause serious problems.
However, he had to uncover the mystery of his own origins. Initially, he had believed his clan to be quite ordinary, not particularly strong. But now... it was as if he saw layers of profound mist behind the scenes, an unfathomable mystery from ancient history.
The Lunar God Season! What connection did they truly have to them...?
In the ruins.
Xu Zhi remained calm, watching these creatures. "Before, I used the Phoenix to create a semi-elemental civilization within the Mother River, and that also led to the elemental life identity of the Lunar God Season... Now, this semi-elemental creature is also the latest version of semi-elemental life."
Although it appeared to have changed, in reality, it was still a semi-elemental life form with a flesh-and-blood core combined with an elemental body. The only true change, the integration, was the inherited memories of this ancient elemental civilization, which had been merged into the bloodline of this semi-elemental being.
"Hmm... This current semi-elemental creature has inherited memory imprints. If it's said to be a mutated descendant of pure elemental beings that became semi-elemental, there should be no issue... Forcibly claiming a lineage and deceiving the system should allow them to proceed deeper."
Although their appearance was different, the racial inheritance and imprints could not be faked. These were core elements embedded deep within the bloodline.
"Yes..."
Xu Zhi's expression was very calm. Taking the newly bred young creatures, he thought, "Now, entering these ancient ruins, there should be no repulsion. There's no need to force a breakthrough; they can walk right in... So, let's enter the deeper maze of mines and take a look..."
He began to walk inside, intending to see what lay in the depths of the ruins, maintaining a very calm demeanor, thinking: "And while I'm at it, I'll find a place to summon the 'lamp' from deep within the sun of the Mother River civilization, along with the Phoenix and the four elemental planes within it... to officially acknowledge their ancestry in this civilization."
