Clang—Clang—Clang—
A bone-chilling wind swept across the desolate land. The gray sky obscured the light of day. On the dark, broken ground, a dazzling beam of light sped along the tracks from the distance.
It was a train speeding through the Gray Realm. Densely packed incantations covered the surface of the train and tracks, emitting a faint glow. As it roared past, flying sand and gravel swirled along both sides of the tracks.
At this moment, inside one of the train carriages, a young man wearing small, round sunglasses lazily yawned.
There didn't seem to be many passengers on this realm train. Since the incident in the Boundless Realm became known, people from other realms felt the turbulent times. Those able to travel across realms at this critical juncture typically had compelling reasons or were not afraid of death.
"Hello, sir, is this your luggage?" a figure asked, passing through the empty carriage and pointing to a lion dance head on the adjacent seat.
"Yes, what is it?"
"We'll be arriving at the station soon, and the train will begin to slow down ahead... For safety, please buckle it in as well, to prevent it from rolling around."
"Alright."
As he spoke, the young man flashed a brilliant smile, then pulled out the seatbelt from the empty seat beside him and secured the lion dance head to the seat.
Clang—
The train merged from one track onto another, heading straight towards the horizon.
Once the attendant was gone, the young man turned back to look out the window.
Suddenly,
He seemed to see something and couldn't help but rub his eyes, murmuring:
"Strange... Am I seeing things? How can there be two people out there??"
Looking out through the train's window, not far from the tracks, a figure could vaguely be seen walking on the dark ground, carrying another blood-soaked figure on his back, motionless, like a corpse.
One must know that this was the Gray Realm, where humans simply couldn't survive. After a short while, they would be torn to shreds by attracted calamities... unless their rank was high enough to fight their way through on their own. So, when the young man saw someone walking on foot in the Gray Realm, his eyes were full of doubt.
As he looked through the train window and saw the disheveled figure outside, that figure also saw the roaring train pass by.
"A train?! A realm train??!"
Jian Changsheng froze for half a second, then, as if mad, he sprinted towards the train, carrying Chen Ling on his back!
Jian Changsheng was utterly frustrated.
Not long ago, after Chen Ling "spouted blood all over him," Chen Ling, severely wounded, collapsed... Jian Changsheng was also dumbfounded. Cursing under his breath, he hoisted Chen Ling onto his back and ran at full speed along the train tracks.
Last time, Chen Ling also detonated without a word; if not for Chu Muyun's timely rescue, Chen Ling might not have even made it to the Mortal Realm... Although Chen Ling's injuries weren't as severe this time, with a severed arm and what looked like a gouged-out heart, he appeared even more terrifying on the surface.
"Damn you, Red Heart, are you messing with me?!"
"You said it wouldn't explode this time, but it did again?? Last time, at least there were a bunch of people around you; this time, it's just me! You really know how to make things difficult for me!!"
"I'm carrying you, but definitely not to save you... I'm afraid if I leave you, the calamities will pick up your scent and follow me. You're just a good luck charm for me, understand??"
"Damn it, can't this train go any slower??!"
Jian Changsheng's legs moved rapidly through the Gray Realm, but he still couldn't catch up to the roaring train. Gritting his teeth, he bit his finger until it bled and began to travel by using the Blood Droplet Teleportation technique.
"That's somewhat interesting..."
Inside the train, the young man watched Jian Changsheng's blood-fueled movement, lost in thought.
"His rank isn't particularly high, yet he can move freely in the Gray Realm..." he mused. "Could he be from the Crimson Heaven Sect? No, they couldn't have attained the Divine Path... How strange... Could he be a Fuser?"
"Someone!" someone exclaimed. "No, a calamity is following the train!"
Just as the young man was deep in thought, several attendants hastily ran past from the back, shouting, "Quick, tell the conductor! Speed up and shake them off!"
"The train has incantations; they should be able to repel those calamities..." one of them wondered aloud. "How can calamities still actively approach?"
"I don't know!" another replied. "Those two calamities are covered in blood; they look absolutely terrifying!"
"We absolutely cannot let them get close to the train, or everyone on board will be in mortal danger!!"
The attendants didn't have such keen eyesight and mistook Jian Changsheng and his companion for calamities. But they couldn't be blamed for that, as there were no other options for those who could move freely in the Gray Realm besides calamities. Even if there were (like the Crimson Heaven Sect and the Fusers), they were even more terrifying than calamities!
Furthermore, with Jian Changsheng carrying a blood-soaked "corpse" and running wildly, spewing blood, he didn't look like a good person by any stretch of the imagination.
Clang—Clang—!!
Amidst the roaring of the whistle, the train accelerated once more!
Jian Changsheng, who had almost reached the tail of the train, was abruptly pulled further away, making his veins bulge with anxiety!
"Seriously... are you messing with me?!!" Jian Changsheng's eyes widened as he cursed aloud.
Yet, he had no other option. If he couldn't board this train, he would have to walk all the way to the Celestial Axis Realm... still carrying the half-dead Chen Ling on his back.
Unwilling to give up, Jian Changsheng simply cut another gash on his wrist and surged forward again in a crimson blur, frantically approaching the train like a blood demon from hell!
His eyes were bloodshot.
"It's getting faster!!"
On the train, the attendants cried out in terror.
"What's going on? Can't we shake it off?"
"Speed up! Speed up again!"
"We can't; the Celestial Axis Realm is ahead!" another attendant exclaimed. "If we speed up any more, we won't have time to slow down. We'll overshoot the platform and crash into other parts of the realm!"
"Then what do we do???"
Panic spread through the carriage, and chaos reigned everywhere.
Seeing this, the young man by the window furrowed his brow deeper, and after a moment of hesitation, let out a long sigh... He unbuckled the lion dance head's seatbelt and stood up, walking straight towards the back of the train.
"Sir...!"
"Don't mind me, just keep going," the young man said. He pushed up his small round sunglasses and turned back to give everyone a slight smile. "I promise you, it won't catch up."
With that said, he walked towards the last carriage without looking back.
His black Tang suit gradually disappeared from the attendants' sight. They exchanged glances, their eyes filled with deep bewilderment...
Faster!!
Jian Changsheng's eyes were blood-red, having pushed the Blood Droplet Teleportation technique to its limit, slowly closing the distance to the train's tail...
Just then, the metal door at the tail of the train slowly creaked open.
